I just started watching this series a couple of days ago thanks to netflix since i can stream it all. Love the show so far but just noticed how there are also movies made during the middle of seasons. SO what is the order your supposed to watch everything in. I just finished season one when i saw there is a show now called caprica which is set before battlestar galactica. So should i start by watching caprica first? I don't really care which way they were meant to be watched but what do u guys suggest? My plan was just to watch season 1 through 4 and then watch all the movies at the end and then start watching caprica. Or mix the movies in-between seasons or something. But again i have no idea and any help would be appreciated thanks.

These are the movies i found are there any im missing?

Battlestar Galactica: The Story So Far (2009)
Battlestar Galactica: Razor (2007)
Battlestar Galactica: The Plan (2009)
Battlestar Galactica: Caprica (2009)

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

"The Story So Far" is just a recap done prior to the beginning of Season Three I believe. You can skip that one, and I also recommend you skip "The Plan." It mainly points out that Ron Moore and David Eick had only a minimal plan for the series, and it is full of ret-cons.

I assume you started with the mini-series from 2003 before going on to Season One. Continue with Season Two up to Episode 12, then watch "Razor," even though it was not broadcast until after the end of Season Three. After that, continue with the episodes in order.

Caprica is complete. It was canceled after its first season of eighteen episodes. It is perfectly alright to wait and watch that after you have finished with BSG.

EDITED COMMENT: I just remembered that "Razor" has some flashback scenes from episodes that come after S02E12, and I can't recall right now how many eps that might entail, so maybe it is best to watch that after Season Three after all.

Yeah, Caprica works best if you watch it well after BSG proper.

There's another series (well, a pilot, technically, but likely to be picked up), called "Blood and Chrome," but it's not out yet.

This should cover it:

v=list&season=All&tag=container;episode_list_header

Start with the episode at the bottom and work your way to the top. Enjoy. I actually think BSG was a pretty decent show. Not outstanding, but it was good.

There's a Firefly in the sequence where Laura Roslin is first told she has cancer in the mini-series. If you look out the window above her head you'll see it go by kinda quickly.

Congratulations! You are the one millionth poster to mention that well known easter egg, from the effects wizards at Zoic Studios!

If you can also find the Enterprise from Star Trek, you win a prize!

Well im done with the show watched all the episodes. And im so very disappointed by how much season 3 and 4 sucked. Also what kind of ending is that to the show. The show turned into to a political nightmare. They were essentially at war the whole time yet they had time to fight amongst each other and cause strikes. Adoma seemed like a big pussy same with his son, his son should have been air locked along with baltar when he defended him. Marshal law should of been declared and any ship against should have been taken by force and everybody air locked(in war there is no room for politics and people rights u do as ur told or die). Kane style she was a bigger man then anybody on this show. The show was oright though season 1 and 2 and last season were good. Wish i would of only watched the part 1 and 2 of the 3 part finally. The last episode made me lose any respect i built for the characters. Can someone explain 2 things i missed i guess. Is baltar and caprica gods or something? And is thrace a cylon or what and why was that never explained?

Ps: sorry if my rant offended lovers of the show.

Yep, killing anyone who disagrees is a great strategy for a people facing extinction....

As for your questions - they real ones were not Gods. The "head" versions of them were part of or working for a higher power, by whatever term you wish to use.

And no, Kara wasn't a Cylon, she was in essence a ghost or angel sent back to get them on track.

I get why some people are bothered by the theological aspects of the show, but they were upfront with it from the very start.

Personally, I thought the political angles were what made the show great. Having everyone get along under such extreme circumstances is just a wee bit unbelievable.

All u would have to do is do it a couple of times and nobody would stand up to.

If proper power would have been established i think the fleet could have avoided a lot of unwanted death and terrible events like new caprica.

Sure, by violating the ideals they seek to preserve.

The strikes and things of that nature seemed pretty believable to me. I mean they basically said those people were forced to work day in and day out with no vacation and no chance of a career or life really. I'm not sure how much time passed for the fleet but it seemed like a long time. I think it's almost more unrealistic that it took so long for them to strike. It's not like the military could afford to use a bunch of troops keeping the crew of the other ships in line. What would they have left to fight the cylons with?

Kara's return was probably my only real complaint. They never explained it well enough.

I don't really believe everyone would be so willing to give up technology either but I understand that they pretty much had to brush past that to get the ending they were shooting for all along.

I'm with you on this one, especially about the creators being upfront from the start. I remember in a very early episode Head Six tells Baltar that she is an angel sent by God (or something like that). The fact we don't take it seriously (like Baltar) or think much of it is our fault. Six is perfectly serious when she tells him.

I agree as well about the strikes and political fighting. It would have ruined the show if they'd all got along 'Star Trek style' as one big happy family.

And to further answer Alps they may have been at war all the time but they weren't always fighting. There were long periods of no attacks where relatively normal life would continue for most of the people, especially the non-military.

I love BSG, (Not as much as FF!) but i think it worth having on dvd.
The religious and political aspects interested me..
it would have been a rather short show if it was just about the cylons.
In all, I think they done the SciFi genre well. And, if anyone ever mentions it, we can alwasy tell 'em to watch FF after they finish.. :)

The space battles were AWESOME!

I agree though that they dropped the ball(into a volcano) with seasons 3 and 4.

BSG was my 2nd favourite show of all time but after seasons 3 and 4 I cant even go back and watch the first 2 seasons because I know whats to come.

That covers about everything I was going to say.

BTW, I'm split on the whole Netflix thing. My wife and I have it and really enjoy watching TV shows from beginning to end. We just finished the first season of Lost. But then again, we started it last week. I think TV shows were, to a degree, meant to be watched over a length of time and canon-balling several seasons all at once might not be such a good idea, especially with shows like BSG that present some pretty heavy and complex issues. Instead of mulling them over, we just get our knee jerk reactions and move on.

I guess that isn't really a comment on Netflix, so much as it is the devouring of a production that took the better part of a decade in a couple of weeks.

I don't use Netflix or anything like it but I get what you're saying as I can get through TV shows pretty quick too. Sometimes having that gap and discussing parts with other people can lead to a greater understanding of the show, seeing things from another POV or just picking up on bits you missed.
The advantage of watching episodes close together is that it's still fresh in your mind. Lost is a good example and BSG is another. After several years (if you've never rewatched any again) you can't remember everything that went on in the first couple of seasons. Even from season to season things get forgotten because your mind is off the show and onto others.
This is why I always catch up with rewatches every few seasons for the longer running ones. In fact the best way nowadays is when they release the DVD shortly before the next season airs, a perfect chance to catch up.

I use both Netflix and HuluPlus, but I don't generally watch any one show continuously through a season. I'll usually watch one or two episodes on one night each week, watch something else the next night, etc. Currently, there are only two nights I normally watch broadcast TV: Monday, with Chuck, The Cape (while it was on), now back to The Event, and then Castle; and Friday for Fringe.

I'm giving it a bit more time before I rewatch BSG, maybe a couple of years. Hopefully it will still be available streaming at that time, if not I can always rent the discs from Netflix.

Absolutely - the great thing about this show was the way it raised uncomfortable moral debates. If the show had a central theme it was how much of our freedoms, rights and principles should we give up in an extreme crisis? I also love how Adama and Roslyn are so believably incompetent and hypocritical when their principles clash with their emotions.

Also, although the middle of Season 3 was indeed saggier than Lee Adama's fat suit, I thought the New Caprica sequence - with "our heroes" driven to terrorism - was brilliant, and really brave.

Ok, gonna talk about the ending now so shields up:

However - I didn't like the ending, because it was too explicit: I'd rather it had left more dangling threads instead of resorting to Deus ex Machina to tie everything up. We could have been left debating what Starbuck was (Jesus, or a product of Cylon resurrection technology? The way they handled here disappearance could have been far less messianic) and we could have done without Baltar and #6 cropping up in the 21st century and effectively declaring themselves as angels.

Part of me wishes that they'd taken the Blake's 7 option and have everybody die in the crossfire when Galen finds out what Tori did...

Starbucks disappearance was one of two things that bothered me about the ending, other than that I thought it was great (maybe a little too neat but I can live with that). I would have prefered her to go off with Sam so the others would never know what she really was. Then she could disappear or just go into the sun so nobody knew. But to just have her vanish next to Apollo was a bit weak.
My only other problem was that the Galactica should have gone out fighting rather than limping listlessly into a sun. It was almost a character in itself that gradually became more battered as the years went by. It didn't get the 'classic' Trek plot device of being fully repaired by the next episode. It should have had a better send off.

Blake's 7 was a truly excellent ending but I wouldn't have wanted to big a killing in that scene. Maybe one other and an injury. At least Tori got it, I never did like her character but I don't think we were supposed to.

The clashing of their principles/morals was a strong point and they handled it well sometimes going in a direction you didn't expect even if it was only for a short time. Like Adama's return after his shooting. You expect him to be the nice guy and put things right but he doesn't. He's pissed off and he follows Tigh's lead. Great stuff.

DREAMTROVE

I was frankly annoyed at the Blake's 7 ending. It didn't seem right, it was too pat. These weapons had been around all show, and if it were that easy, it would have ended a lot time ago, it was just the BBC wanted done with it, because they hated sci-fi because it was too low brow, and whenever a science fiction show become successful, they'd find a way to undermine it, just like they did with soaps.
