There's no point in trying to bring down the rest of us just because you've given up.

So fiction is okay when it comes to hot characters you'd like to date - so noted and glad for the distinction, thank you.

This is an open and honest discussion by "people" aka Browncoats who are very passionate about this very subject. The fact that we happen to use Firefly lingo to express it is just fun, that's all. I feel the need to spread the word, until I deem that it's time to not. You are more than welcome to contradict me until it's time to stop. Rock?

TWO
The Joss Whedon script for Serenity, where Wash lives, is Serenity-190pages.pdf at www.mediafire.com/folder/1uwh75oa407q8/Firefly
Quote:For anybody who missed it, here's a few of the previous fan campaigns: There's been FireflySeason2.com - now defunct - previous thread http://whedonesque.com/comments/9347 - which was registered in an address on Fox's lot with somebody claiming to be in contact with joss and the actors to get the rights off Fox. It was unrealistic balls. There was 2009's MySerenitySequel.com - now defunct - with aimed to collect $50 x 400,000 people.. This is the same math as HelpNathanBuyFirefly.com are using, as it happens. Also browncoatsriseagain.com - now defunct - previous thread http://whedonesque.com/comments/9309 - which was collecting money via Paypal until one of the producers talked them out of it and got the money returned. There were also some things called Operation Blue Hands, Operation Full Burn etc. gossi | February 21, 17:28 CET

Makes you wonder why, doesn't it?
Quote:Originally posted by Corncobb: Well, I'm intrigued. Not ready to commit to pledging or anything yet, but as soon as Joss or Nathan is on board then so am I. Okay, it may be a long shot. That doesn't mean it's not worth a try. Nobody ever accomplished anything by not bothering to try. "Gorramit Mal... I've forgotten my line."

Quote:Originally posted by Channain: And if it turns out it is misleading or malicious in anyway, I will be the first to say so. In ALL CAPS on each and every venue I've already posted my support. There will be fire, and there will be brimstone. You can rely upon that. What you should reconsider, though, is the idea that Nathan wasn't kidding about doing an Internet series. He would be crazy to give up a gig as good as Castle, but he's also doing a voice-over for the Green Lantern. Doing Firefly on the Internet would be a side venture - a guy has to do something during the hiatus, right? Why not devote his time to regaining a role his still treasures? Unless you're a personal friend of his and can say for a fact that he said to you, "No, I didn't mean that," then any doubts you have about his actions are as superfluous as my confidence in him. FYI, I haven't met him either, nor do I have the pleasure of calling him my friend. But then I give that title to a very distinct few. So as much as you object to me being misleading, I object to your unfounded opinion about what a perfect if very visual stranger would or would not do. Given that, and a healthy dose of reality, I can support this venture. I supported Serenity and I still believe that without the Browncoats there wouldn't have been a movie. I will even accept that we didn't do as much as we'd like to think, but without people to buy the tickets, we still wouldn't even be talking about it in these terms.

I mean Two's post just shows that these are getting lumped together as just the next in a list of similar failures. When the time comes that we really can make a difference we'll be the browncoats who cried wolf. Maybe this is the time it will work and here I am being jaded. Do we really want to breed feelings like that?

Quote:Originally posted by two: What really makes me wonder is what FOX replaced Firefly with. Did the next show in Firefly's timeslot do worse? And what then replaced the replacement? Did it also do worse than Firefly? If we knew about those replacements, we could rationally judge FOX based only upon business considerations and audience numbers. My non-rational judgment, without need for numbers, is FOX failed.

Quote:Originally posted by ecgordon: Fastlane moved into the Friday night slot on Jan. 10, 2003, but it had aired nine episodes previously on Wednesdays before Firefly was canceled. It did get a full season of 22 eps but wasn't renewed after that. I don't recall what was in that time slot for the 2003-4 season. EDIT: According to wikipedia, there were two sitcoms in that slot in the fall of '03, "Wanda at Large" and "Luis," followed by "Boston Public," then BP was moved to the earlier hour in early '04 when "Wonderfalls" premiered.

Quote:This is a horrible campaign. I don't think Nathan would want to be involved with this in any way. Too many expectations and potential problems. You want to do this all in good fun then make it a "mail Nathan lottery tickets" game. Even that might not go over so well with him.
