Paramount is launching a new animation division. http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=79386

Would it be too much to ask for them to do an animated sequel (or two, or four) to Serenity?

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

If Universal and/or FOX will give up the rights you mean?

Ugh. I must be tired. I read Paramount and thought Universal.

I still like the idea of animated Firefly, though.

Yeah, an animated firefly would be great, as long as it is done in a reasonably realistic way, which excludes cartoon style such as jimmy neutron and the likes.

I think they'd have a lot of work doing a series which has anatomically correct humans and a good depth in it.

In other words, I don't think a CGI series would really work, and it's hard to find a drawn style which would suit the live-action series.

In the end, any new series would only work if it was in the same universe, with maybe some guest stars from the original, but otherwise with new characters. That way, nobody could be disappointed by bad decisions in story-lines regarding our big damn heroes.

Hi Bram!

Yep, there was a day when I was totally against ANY animated FF incarnation...but it's been so long I ALMOST forget my reasons.

But I'm on board... now. Bring it. Just do it justice and do it awesome!!

I'd kill just ta hear Mal get dark and serious again, and Jayne to say something stupid...Hell, they all have great voices...

Actually, this being Paramount makes me wonder if Final Frontier might actually have a chance.

You need a wider sample size: there are a lot of good animation styles out there that would work; check out Generator Rex, Ben 10, Metajets, G.I. Joe Renegades, Young Justice, or Avatar: The Last Airbender, and that's not even getting into anime.

(And I don't see what the problem would be with CG; Clone Wars and Transformers Prime both look like they could do the 'verse justice.)

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

If the animation was done right, if they could get the cast to do the voices, if the feel was the same, they weren't afraid to show violence, and Joss and / or trusted writers were doing the scripts I could get totally behind it.

I wouldn't even mind if it was only an audio drama series. At least then the series could really be about the stories, without having any visual effects (animated or live action) to get in the way.

I've recently wondered what would happen if Firefly went the H2G2 route.
