This was the type of movie where you turn off critic mode. Sure there were a few stagnant moments, and some awkward transitions, but it WAS Funny!

You gotta give credit to Schumer for her first movie script, it had moments of utter comedic brilliance. But it also had a few bumps in the road. There was even one scene where you could see Schumer trying to make herself cry, but overall not bad for a novice screenwriter.

John Cena, HI-larious!

LeBron James, for the most part, didn't actually suck.

Bill Hader, well this was Schumer's vehicle.

Anyone else see this Trainwreck? (see what I did there? play on words!)

I never saw it, but what do the critics say? www.metacritic.com/movie/trainwreck

New York Post, Sara Stewart, Jul 15, 2015
100 metacritic score
It’s very funny and sweet and even a little weepy, and it has maybe the best scene ever filmed of dirty talk gone wrong. In other words, it’s a Schumer/Apatow production — may there be more of them to come.

ReelViews, James Berardinelli, Jul 16, 2015
88 metacritic score
As written by the brash, funny, and often vulgar comedienne Amy Schumer, Trainwreck is brash, funny, and often vulgar. Its raunchiness is a perfect match for the man who made "The 40-Year-Old Virgin" and "Knocked Up."

The A.V. Club, Jesse Hassenger, Jul 15, 2015
83 metacritic score
Unlike many comic vehicles and just as many big-city romances, it’s a real, and ultimately rewarding, piece of work. A big-studio romantic comedy infused with actual human feeling is just as rare an accomplishment as the perfect comedy sketch.

Here are a couple of the reviews that are closer to the truth than most:

"It’s very funny and sweet and even a little weepy, and it has maybe the best scene ever filmed of dirty talk gone wrong. In other words, it’s a Schumer/Apatow production — may there be more of them to come."
Sara Stewart - NY Post

"Amy Schumer proves her cinematic bona fides in Trainwreck, a strikingly assured feature film debut in which she proves herself as authentic an actress as she is deft as a writer."
Ann Hornaday - Washington Post

I picked these two because it fits in with my thoughts of the film, her writing and acting chops. This was her first try and it wasn't a bad one. It was better than most of the dreck that Hollywood puts out there and hilarious to boot. I liked it, flaws and everything notwithstanding. I just hope that she keeps her edge and is not sucked in by the Hollywood elite bug, judging from her stand-up routine and late night show appearances, I'd say there's little chance of that happening.
