Awesome, Quirky, funny and then some. Irreverent in every way.....it broke all the rules, but also colored within the lines.....it delivered a message without being sappy or maudlin, cliched or trite.

Let me tell you, that's not easy to pull off. Tim Miller should be commended and awarded something for this work - a story told in a bold and unique way (after all he was nominated for an Academy Award for Animated Short Film).

By the way, Morena was awesome. She is, as you all know, a gifted actress and thrives when in the right hands. Reynolds was in his element and was completely flawless, thanks mostly to Miller's direction, as he waltzed through this
whimsical film with the irreverent storytelling technique. 4th Wall, gone!
Where is it? Shattered in pieces on the floor, and then magically brought back
to life with a wink and a nod.

There was a line in the movie about 2 jigsaw pieces fitting together perfectly,
as I write this it becomes clear that this movie was just that - a jigsaw puzzle
that we see come to life and grab the audience by the balls - "Come with me, we're
going to have some fun." But I also get why they released this film on Valentine's
day - the Radiohead song, CREEP, comes into play in my head. This is a special nod
to those who people just quite can't figure out - teenage angst and "normal" get
their comeuppance, but it's served up with a smile and a shit emoji.

The beauty part is that you don't have to be a fan boy to enjoy the bit of
tomfoolery flashing before you up on the screen; it's all in the storytelling, dialogue, acting, and the fast-paced action. You may even go a second time,
because you may have missed a brilliant line due to your fellow moviegoers
laughter. So run, don't walk, to the nearest theater, check your critical mind at the door, sit back and let it wash over you.

By the way, stay past the end credits, it will complete the FUN!

Tim Miller, Thank You!

Thanks for the review, I'm going to check this flick out. They're already saying it's going to break box office for February AND, FOX has already green-lit the sequel.

Ditto everything what SGG said. Do NOT go to this movie if you're trying to avoid having a good time. I laughed from the very start.

Was I missing something, or did that ship in dry dock at the very end look like a wrecked Helicarrier ? It was really tore up, and that was before the finale'. Guess they're gonna need to the Helicarrier store and buy a new one ! Must have been one of the 3 from Captain America - Winter Soldier, perhaps ?

I thought the movie was surprisingly fun. As you said, Morena was very good in the movie.

I thought it was awesome. They really nailed the tone, comedy, violence, and action necessary to pull off the character. I really thought they did a great job jumping from scene to scene to make sure there weren't any dull and slow parts. I definitely want to see it again. I think I missed a lot due to all the laughter in the theater, but it was still awesome without catching every line.

It couldn't technically be a hellicarrier as this is a Fox production and they don't own the rights to SHIELD. I think it was a nod to a hellicarrier though and they left it vague enough that they can't be sued. I heard they also did that with the thug Deadpool recognizes as they're fighting. That's apparently a guy from the comics (I don't read them) that Deadpool is friends with but he's a Hydra agent and they don't own the rights. So, they only used is first name. So, Marvel can't sue.

The only thing I felt was missing from the movie was an explanation for why that lady puts matches in her mouth. I hope I missed a line, but I feel like they can't just leave something that strange and that just so conveniently saves Deadpool like that hanging without any explanation.

I don't see why Marvel would / could sue, as it was a product of Marvel enterprises.

And as for the matches... I have no idea. Could be there is no further backstory. It simply is what it is ?

I agree on both counts................

Plus I liked how they showed how he became DeadPool while explaining the process. If there was a flaw, I didn't see it. If this were a book, it was
fantastic from cover to cover............

When I came out of the theater, there was a line already formed for the next showing - guys and gals lined up, teens and older folk and people like myself (distinguished gentleman, Ha!) that loved comic books as a kid. Great to see.......

And now studios will not be afraid to make R rated films that release any time of the year and not just in the summertime............

I read somewhere that Disney wanted no part in developing DeadPool, so they
allowed Fox to film it. Now Fox is laughing all the way to the bank with a
herniated disc from carrying the hefty bags of MONEY..............

It was rumored that Ryan Reynolds himself leaked a piece of the film unto the internet, and that's what caused all the buzz about the movie, smart move. Now, if only the suits at Fox could leave them alone with the sequel.

"I really thought they did a great job jumping from scene to scene to make sure there weren't any dull and slow parts." (Zeek quote)

You noticed that too. I really got a kick out of how they told the story and had no trouble following the storyline. Brilliant editing kept the pace moving along.

Another thing that I noticed that didn't detract from the movie's storyline, and this was very subtle.................the chemistry between
Ryan and Morena was so spot on, it never got in the way. She was awesome
and just as kick-ass as in Firefly (God she's so fine). And Reynolds was
fantastic.

The writing was so damn good, but so was the directing, acting and editing.
A Homerun blast that cleared the Green Monster! (was that too much, I could never tell).

There are clever ways to show back story, and then there are confusing, disjointed or far too obvious ways of doing it. I think how it was done in Deadpool was one way that worked.

I'm just glad the movie did so well opening week. Ryan Reynolds is a hoot. Saw the google talk interview w/ him, and he showed Joss like love for this project. It's easy to get jaded when actors only mouth enthusiasm for a role, a project, what ever, - Hey, it IS a job, after all - but Ryan says he's been after this movie to be made for 11 years. Hearing him speak and seeing how he has promoted this movie, I believe him.

And the damn thing has worked, too, which is doubly sweet. It means we'll be getting more Deadpool, down the road.

If only that love and commitment could translate ... well, never mind.

I'm happy for Ryan and the DP fans.

You know I have to say it: Where is Auraptor and what have you done with him?

Kidding aside, you have touched upon something that's kind of a pet peeve
of mine: actors droning on about how great their movie, project, cast are and having absolutely no real interest or sincerity.

I believe you are absolutely right. Reynolds is genuinely happy that this
film/character has resonated with the DP fans; but I think it's more than that. He really wanted this to work because he put his heart and soul into
it. I saw him on Ellen and you could see he was giddy and bubbly, that man was on a high - not from Pot or Acid - he was HIGH ON LIFE (WHAM!)

He was one happy human, and that was good to see. So I'm with you.
