I saw an article in a newspaper about the GG, and I was not so much shocked as disappointed.

First off, no nomination for Patty Jenkins, the director of Wonder Woman. I thought, are they kidding me?....surely she'll get an Oscar nomination, but I didn't expect very much since WW is a comic book movie (not serious enough I guess). That, for me, was the biggest surprise. But here's another surprise - Wind River got bupkiss! I don't understand it, only thing I could think of is that it came out earlier this year, and people may have forgotten about it.

Below, a list of the GG nominations:

018/index.html

I would say, that for the major categories in movies that there is a horse race between 3 Billboards and The Shape of Water.

Best Picture - Shape of Water

Best Actor - Gary Oldman

Best Actress - Sally Hawkins/Frances McDormand (I wouldn't be surprised if they call it a tie)

Best Supporting Actor - Richard Jenkins (although Sam Rockwell was fantastic)

Best Supporting Actress - Octavia Spencer

Best Screenplay - The Shape of Water

Best Orginal Score - The Shape of Water

The HFPA must go by some really different standards than do the Oscars because they left out Wonder Woman, Wind River and some others that I'm not aware of. Although the above list has some impressive movies, I'm not so sure that they have left out some really good movies from their list.

No Jewels, Gary Oldman is nominated for Darkest Hour. I have not seen it, but I'm guessing he will win.

Just a hunch.

And yet, people still watch them or even devote a sliver of their concentration on them. I just don't get it. Not judging... We've all got our quirks.

The last thing I would ever want to do is sit through a few hours of the truly over-privileged people telling me their opinions on things.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

I know, no judgement. Just a passtime, like baseball, movies, line dancing...it's not taken seriously. There's too many things in this world that mean more to me.

It's like smoking a cigarette, or judging a beauty contest. Just a nasty habit.
