I just came back from seeing Logan (solid movie, near great), but I'm here to talk about the Deadpool 2 trailer.

Look at it carefully, the one where he jumps into a phone booth to change into DP (hilarious by the way), there's a shout out to our beloved Firefly

Just thought I'd mention it.

I might have seen a similar thread to this, but it may have been in a non-specific forum, thus quickly buried.

What do you think of those symbols below the poster on the right?

Can't really make out the symbols, although they look like the number 2.
It may be for Serenity sequel, but that's just a wild guess.

I think I mentioned in the original DP thread that Ryan Reynold's passion to not just do this project but do it right was on par with how I heard Joss talk about Firefly and doing Serenity.

Guess I didn't realize it was that obvious !

More likely, somethings are just more self evident, they need no further explanation. What the fans did , to get the BDM had to be a lesson for Deadpool fans. And Ryan too. I love how he had no clue of the character, and then simply fell in love , from the very start.

Same for many of us, I suspect. Depicted perfectly when Mal first saw her, across the lot of used space ships... there she was.

So Josh Brolin is cast as Cable.

Not up on the whole Cable back story, save for what I see on YouTube and such.

I'm a bit hesitant on the sequel. I mean , how does one follow up a insanely successful 1st movie ? There's a formula there which nailed the perfect balance of being campy, funny, and still worth seeing the story unfold. Much of the appeal, imo, was the introduction of Deadpool ( v 2.0 ) , as he should have been done, as well as the self evasive humor.

So now what ? Just repeating what they did the first time will seem lame, but then they can't go full 'serious' like and make it like any other movie.

Hell, as long as they have fun and all, I think it'll do just fine.

I had THE most ridiculous, lame Deadpool dream ever. Supposedly, it was a screening of the new Deadpool. However, the movie was shown in a 1950's / 60's style movie theatre - straight back chairs. The movie was utterly lame. And short. No Cable, which made me wonder if this was some sort of test screening.

There was a black woman , in police uniform, in the audience, who was suppose to have been a feature character from the 1st movie....

We as fans were suppose to know who she was. Kinda like a Dopinder character.

No one knew her.

People started leaving about midway in the screening. It was so terrible.
Before I knew it, the theatre was totally empty, and i was sitting there alone, wondering what had just happened.

I read online that at a recent screening the audience went bananas, and it got high marks on exit questionaires. Plus, after the screening they only had 5 reshoots.

That, to me, is encouraging.

Was the first abbreviated DP?

Although Ryan was pegged, seems like Morena would be the most likely target of DP. I don't recall Registered Companions sharing that action.

I've probably been watching too much late night talkshows. DP is a sex act.

Select to view spoiler:

double penetration. In the sex montage, Ryan received Morena's strap-on, which gays call "pegged"

Pretty amazed to see a fairly uncut version of Deadpool airing on FX. First showed up this week, leading into the season 2 premier of LEGION. What took me aback is how much language, violence and yes, even bum shots of Ryan Reynolds made it to screen. I didn't see his and Morena's sexy calendar girl montage, but just about everything else was left in.

And then it was reshown on Thurs nite too. Love that flick.

I did understand that you had referred to the thread topic.
But, as an aside, I wondered if that abbreviation had been used for the original. I had not recalled that, but it's not like the film shied away from sex topics.

I don't know what iFruit ads you speak of.

I just realized:

Nathan is featured guest at a Firefly Convention in American Housewife on 9 May and 16 May.

Morena's Deadpool 2, with at least one Firefly shoutout, comes out 18 May - which might actually be 17 May.

Is there some larger Force at work? Any thing else upcoming?

Anybody know if Morena is scheduled for late night shows upcoming?
And is Adam going to push some The Last Ship product?

Zazie Beetz is on a Jimmy tonight.

Morena is on Corden now. Along with Steven Tyler - didn't he sing a tune on Pilot Serenity?

Wondering if Reggie will have a Sci-Fi question.

She reveals an action scene which was cut because of her.

I saw a clip of Reynolds, dressed as DeadPool, on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert. He took over the monologue and told a few Trump jokes...he was somewhat funny and definitely irreverent. He was even bleeped as he threw in a couple of curse words. (it's on You Tube).

I might mention some Spoilers, but I will try to keep them hidden.

I will not pretend to be on the exact same wavelength as those who raved about Deadpool, but i Did enjoy it, far more than most superhero fliks, and I knew nothing about him prior to the film.

But whatever appeal was found in the original carries no letdown in Deadpool 2. How could they possibly have the same irreverence yet maintain the freshness? I expected those fans would not suffer any stale or staid rework of story or humor. But they pulled it off, IMO.

I did really enjoy the performance by Brad Pitt. It made me wonder if he was offered the role, or if he requested it.

I'm not sure of the purpose of the scene of Alan Tudyk and Matt Damon discussing toilet paper, but it did remind me of the scene in Terminator 2 when T-1000 arrives near the cop.
Funny thing: in the past few days the IMDb entries for these 2 roles have changed from Redneck #1 and Redneck #2 to now being Redneck #1 and Redneck #1.

I had thought Celine Dion was going to make an appearance.

I will assume that Deadpool fans will be satisfied with this installment.

If not mistaken, I think DP called Cable Thanos at least once. When filming, I wonder which one was scheduled to be released first.

Several times I thought Cable's Bear was The Last Mimzy, but that is likely just me.

Even if you're not a big fan, I think you'll enjoy DP2 unless the raw language bothers you. I expect this to be a Top 10 film of 2018. So much goes on, lots of inside jokes, that you likely won't catch it all in one viewing. But there are several scenes or shots that won't be as spectacular on small screen.

I don't think this is a SPOILER: I did enjoy DP's limp arm trick.

Just saw it last night. I enjoyed it.

I did think it was a slightly less entertaining because it felt like more of the same. I mean I don't really know what else they could do, but it just felt like I'd seen this magic trick before.

Also, the one thing I was worried about was a child actor. Sure enough he was my least favorite part of the movie. I liked every other new character they introduced except him. When will hollywood learn?

Overall, I'm glad I saw it and I think it's a decent sequel. I just don't know how many times they can tell similar jokes and keep getting laughs.

It was a short filmed to go along with the release of Logan, to sustain interest in Deadpool I suppose.

I mostly agree with you Zeek. I felt as though there was many stops and starts throughout. Morena was awesome, but the story needed something more cohesive to pull it all together. Yes, there was a theme about family...but it felt disjointed somewhat.

But, I had a good time. Funny, funny, funny!

Just saw a plug for Once Upon a Deadpool, a new film coming out for Christmas.
Apparently Ryan Reynolds decided to make a PG-13 version of Deadpool for kiddies, so he kidnapped Fred Savage to help tell the story.

Seems to maintain the same humor and irreverence. With more original content added.

If you saw the 1st one and weren't impressed with more than ' it was OK ', then I doubt you'll like DP2. I thought 2 was still good, and even enjoyed Once Upon a Deadpool, but that's just me. I think DP is a freaking masterpiece of the super hero genre, but if all you see is 'OK', then prepare to be underwhelmed from here on out.

I really like DP1. The only other Marvel movie I got any enjoyment out of was the first Guardians of the Galaxy. I'm sure I'll see DP2 one of these days. Not so sure about GotG2 though.
