Reading the synopsis, it sounds like the backstory portion of Ghost In The Shell. James Cameron has been working on this since before 2005?

Bird Box with Sarah Paulson is a possibility, must check in on it with more details.

And Alicia Vikander has not let me down yet, so Euphoria I'll need to check out, 2 Feb.

Well, I had lost track of Bird Box. But I guess it is coming out, around now.

Looks like Nomis release date of 28 Sept was only for L.A. Film Festival's final night.

Some additional scenes shot in Winnipeg in Jan 2018. At end of November, US distribution bought by Saban Films.
So wide cinema release must be in 2019.

Apparently Between Worlds has a release date of last Friday.

I had not heard of it before, but it looks interesting.

Finally watched a few movies since my brother was in for the holidays. An old classic, a hidden gem, and a mediocre new flick.

The first was Empire Records. Like most of the things you have nostalgia for from your childhood, it didn't age particularly well. It did manage to bring back memories of high school, but mostly served to make me remember just how old I've gotten since then.

The second was a re-watch of a flick that might be pretty well known to Firefly fans but not to many other people. My brother had never seen or even heard of Tucker and Dale vs. Evil with Alan Tudyk, but Netflix new-ish video preview feature picked a great few lines of the movie and sold my brother on watching it. We had a few good laughs and were quoting scenes from the flick all week.

The third was kind of a compromise. I really can't stand the horror genre these days, but they're pretty much still my brother's favorite genre. I was really only in the mood for comedy. So we watched Little Evil with Evangeline Lilly and Adam Scott. It wasn't really scary or funny, but it did offer up a few laughs.

I just looked on IMDB and Little Evil was made in 2017. So I guess I still haven't seen a movie from 2018. Three days left and I've got a Netflix account now. Any recommendations on a made for Netflix movie from 2018 that was good? I can't imagine that any non-Netflix movies they have from 2018 are worth watching.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

I've never even heard of Colossal.

Yeah. I'm pretty sure that Netflix wouldn't have any of those movies yet. They usually like to take quite a bit of time to let the DVD sales go on before they put them on streaming services if they did well in the theaters.

I only used my KODI stick for one single TV episode all year back around April, so I'd have to upgrade the whole thing to get it working. I hear they must have been cracking down on the servers and that Article 13 had a lot to do with that. Everybody I know who uses it says that it's very hit or miss these days if they can even watch anything at all.

lol. Joke's on them if they think that means I'm going to actually pay to watch any of this drek. If it's not on Netflix, I'm fine with watching YouTube on my downtime.

Synopsis:

Quote:

Sam (Andrew Garfield) is a disenchanted 33-year-old who discovers a mysterious woman, Sarah (Riley Keough), frolicking in his apartment's swimming pool. When she vanishes, Sam embarks on a surreal quest across Los Angeles to decode the secret behind her disappearance, leading him into the murkiest depths of mystery, scandal and conspiracy in the City of Angels.

The bits I saw of it gave off a real David Lynch vibe to it. I was napping the other day while YouTube was on auto and woke up to RedLetterMedia reviewing it and they both loved it and said it was a shame that nobody's ever heard of it. I actually didn't watch much of their review because it looked so good to me that I didn't want it ruined.

I'm hoping it's as good as I think it might be. It's pretty rare these days that something piques my curiosity like this.

I think I'm going to see if it's on Netflix tonight. If I watch it, I'll let you know what I think.

Looks as though it was originally shown at some film festivals in 2018, but wasn't going to get a proper release to the public until sometime around now in 2019.

But it also seems that there were some problems shopping it around and it didn't see much of a theatrical release? Maybe just a limited run in some theaters?

I'm also getting conflicting info about whether or not you can stream it yet. Some websites say it's not available anywhere to stream or to purchase on disc format yet, while others say that you can stream it on Amazon for $4.99 now.

I'm sure the Pirate Bay already has it. I'll give Hollywood some time to figure out how to properly monetize it and get it out to the public before I just go the easy route. If this film is what I believe it is going to be when I finally see it, I really don't like the idea of watching it for free. With all the mindless drek that Hollywood churns out with ridiculous budgets, it's a shame that a smart movie can't even get a proper release. Watching it for free is sending the wrong message to the powers that be.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

I get the same feeling for Nomis.

The synopsis seemed vague, which was the same as what you posted. That's why I asked you.

Not sure if it is similar to Lady In The Box (2001), or maybe Lady In The Water (2006).
Lady In The Box did star Mark Sheppard, the year before he was in some little work called Firefly (twice), and he was also in Fastlane, which replaced Firefly in the Death Slot.

I'm not really bowled over by Elvis' granddaughter, but maybe she gets to shine in this one.

Well... I wouldn't be very excited if it was an M. Knight production. I don't think it's anything like Lady in the Water. Like I said, what little I allowed myself to see put off a pretty strong David Lynch vibe. Probably more like Mulholland Drive or the Lost Highway than anything M. Knight put out. Maybe a little Donnie Darko thrown in.

A critical review I did read for the movie said that it's something that you may have to watch 3 or 4 times to really "get it", and with a run time of well over 2 hours, that's just not the type of movie that's very marketable to the dumbed down audience of regular theater goers in 2019.

I realized that Riley Keough would be the step-sister or something of the Michael Jackson kids that the SJW Krotty guy assaulted.

Hmmmm...

It's already been a year since I made this post, huh?

Guess I'll cross this one off the list finally.

Another great movie. I'll probably watch it again soon since it's definitely one of those flicks that would benefit from a 2nd watch. I'm 2 for 2 in 2 nights.

I guess the upside of extreme discretion when it comes to watching anything is that when you finally do, they're really, really good.

I don't want to mention a single thing about it and you should go into it not knowing anything. There is a 5 minute scene in the 3rd act that is one of the greatest things I've ever seen in film.

What a shame that this film didn't get a wide release. At least I know that nobody I know has seen it and I'll have plenty of opportunity to watch it again while introducing other people to it.

This too, along with The Hunt, will be an adored cult classic. The comment section in YouTube seems to already echo that sentiment. Just have to get the word of mouth out there since Hollywood likes promoting shit while letting true classics like this come and go, virtually unseen by the public.
