This was a wonderful film.

I only saw the trailer last night, and it seemed like a Jason Bourne style action flick.

I have never read any of the Gray Man novels, although I have read all of the Bourne books, starting in the 1970's. The author of Gray Man was chosen to continue the Tom Clancy series of novels.

Turns out, this really was like Bourne films, except better, more style and panache I thought. The back story of Bourne was fairly novel to start with, then developed retroactively. Gray Man as told in the film is practically a copy, with Sierra copying Treadstone.

Ana De Armas did even better than in 007. She seems to be charging through a new phase of career, action babe - and she is doing very well with it.
Ryan Gosling is more believable and better performing than Matt Damon.
The Chris Evans character seemed less so, could have been played by Gary Oldman or similar.
The action and chase scenes are very good.

If I am to quibble, I do get annoyed by overly dark lighting in cinematography in recent films, and this is along those lines. With better lighting, I would have rated it 5 stars within the genre.

If you like the Bourne or John Wick films, you are sure to like The Gray Man.

So Chris Evans is the bad guy?

Probably his most believable character yet.
