Fletcher: They were marvelous. DS9 was one of the best memories of my working life, of my day-to-day working life. They were the most professional cast and crew imaginable. It was like playing a symphony for the 99th time. They all knew their jobs. They were supremely professional. Being in the makeup trailer was something out of… science fiction, really. It was just amazing. Things took hours, but they were all so deliberate and they knew their jobs and they made you feel secure. It was marvelous. I had some of the longest hours I ever had working. I think one day we worked 21 hours.

Louise Fletcher had memorable roles in the cult sci-fi movies 'Strange Invaders' and 'Invaders From Mars'. R.I.P.

My brother and I checked my dad's neck every morning for weeks after watching Invaders from Mars.

As a remake, Invaders From Mars wasn't all that bad ....good campy fun! However, the 1953 original was truly terrifying for a kid to watch. Lots of scary images that haunted me for years, including the dreaded neck thingy.

Yanno what? I've never seen the 1953 version, although I was aware it existed because when we watched the 80's version my dad rented he told us he'd never seen that one but he saw the 50's version. I'll put the original on my to-watch list.

I wouldn't count out the 80's version as just camp though. It was absolutely terrifying for me and my brother when we were kids. Although I did re-watch it in my 20's and like most things that scared me as a kid I got a good laugh at how cheesy they really were.

My dad let us watch all sorts of things that terrified us like that. I remember watching The Thing (80's version) with him and I had to be around 5 years old. My folks were still married when we watched Poltergeist, so I would have only been 4 years old. It wasn't until I re-watched They Live with my dad and my youngest brother who had never seen it before last year that I realized why I go to cover any time I hear a helicopter... It's because I watched They Live when I was 6 or 7.
