Box Office: Hollywood Cooking Up Record-Breaking Thanksgiving Feast. With 'Moana 2,' 'Wicked' and 'Gladiator II' on the table, domestic revenue for the five-day holiday corridor is expected to hit an all-time high north of $300 million.

$300,000,000 for Wicked Part One (2024) and Part Two (2025). Variety predicts it will dazzle. I suspect it will fizzle.

I agree with your prediction on this one.

Especially when the lady playing the wicked witch has been spreading cancer on Twitter.

Not exactly Rachel Ziegler levels of cancer, but it should be enough to put a musical nobody wanted to see in theaters in the red.

Also, as a 45 year male I can appreciate what people see in Ariana Grande. I wouldn't be taking any kids of mine to see her. I don't think they possibly could have chosen somebody worse for the roll of Dorothy.

They are selling the Hype again, Hollyweird reports about itself that it has a few more 1.5 Billion Dollar Movies before the Christmas or New Year...

...please ignore what's happening to RedOne.

$3.16M on Tuesday

Total domestic gross stands at $36.93M.

does it have legs, what excuses will they have? its doing great on i-tunes or download flix, maybe straight to DVD, claims of toy and t-shirt sales, VOD route?

Moana 2 is one of the few movies out for the rest of the year that I predicted would make at least enough to bump the Chinese movies down the top 10 list. Until I see signs otherwise, I don't think this should be hard to do at all.

I think they're in for a HUGE disappointment with Gladiator II almost for sure, and though I think Wicked will do better it won't be a huge success if it does manage to break even.

They'd better get ideas of any of these movies making $1.5 Billion out of their head. If any of them hit $1 Billion I will be amazed. Moana 2 is the only movie on the rest of the 2024 slate that has even the slightest chance of making over $1 Billion.

I wonder how many people didn't go see Red One because of Chris Evans.

I didn't even know he was in it, and this is the type of movie I would NEVER watch on my own for any reason anyhow. But I thought it was funny when my old man said that he would have taken my brother to see it this weekend to support the local 2-screen theater while he was there, but because Chris Evans came out with most of the other pathetic ex-Avengers team to tell people to vote for Kamala he's not going to ever watch a movie with any of them again.

There is no Dorothy! Ariana Grande is the Good Witch! Ariana Grande (who plays Galinda, aka Glinda the Good) and Cynthia Erivo (who plays Elphaba, aka the Wicked Witch of the West).

Ah. Okay...

Sorry. I'm not up on my Broadway musicals or the Extended Wizard of Oz Universe.

Quote:

Ariana Grande is perfect for the role because: "before Grande was a megafamous pop star, before she was even a breakout actress on a Nickelodeon television show, she was a theater kid. The “thank u, next” singer charmed in a local production of Annie at 8 years old, and landed her first big gig at 15, as an original cast member of the Broadway musical 13. Though she swiftly moved onto the screen (in the teen show Victorious) and up the charts (with a handful of high-selling albums), Grande remains known for her love of the stage, still managing to do projects like 2016’s Hairspray Live! She is also, famously, a mentee of Kristin Chenoweth, Broadway’s original Galinda, and has commented on Galinda being her dream role since she first saw Wicked as a tween. If Grande’s Broadway tenure and her musical legend of a mentor weren’t enough to prove her theater-kid bona fides, Grande has also shown a breadth of musical knowledge that only a true stan of the stage could possess."

Yeah... But this.

That's a particularly cute outfit she has on in the 3rd video. It's the same one my dominatrix wears while putting me up naked on the stretcher and stomping on my balls in between the whippings.

Half of the dads in that audience doing their best to think of baseball stats and war so they don't sport chubs with their daughters standing right next to them. Yanno... because they brought their daughters to a burlesque show.

I'm not a parent, but I know I wouldn't be taking my impressionable daughter to see anything Grande is involved with if I were.

Quote:

Maybe the movie can be as lucrative as the Broadway musical:
In 2016, Wicked surpassed $1 billion in total Broadway revenue, joining The Phantom of the Opera and The Lion King as the only Broadway shows to do so.

Doubtful.
