Firefly has a wonderful cast of players.

One of these is Morena Baccarin, who plays Inara Serra.

Morena's most recent starring role is in the film Elevation, which was released in Cinema Theater. She also produced the film.

This is the sub-forum called "Cinema"

Anthony Mackie. Top billed player of Elevation.

You and all your references that fly over my head. I have no idea what Elevation is.

I pity the fool who puts themselves through all of that crap just to try to mine out an extremely rare gem or two every year.

Godspeed, friend.

I hope that the overall quality of movies improves for you over the next few years.

Well...

My condolences on Morena's poor casting decision.

I hope for the fandom that she has learned a lesson from her mistake and that she has opportunities to make new mistakes going forward.

6ix, you'll waste words on defending the politically motivated thesis that Disney movie ticket sales are going down because their movies are too woke for Trumptards. The real reason sales are down is because Disney movies are on TV for FREE while still in the theater.

Twenty years ago, movies arrived on TV only 3 months after premiering at the theater. Now it is two weeks, or less. An article from 2005 about the self-destructive error Hollywood was only beginning to make:

Hollywood’s Death Spiral, Part 2
Are movie theaters facing extinction?
By Edward Jay Epstein | Aug 01, 2005 9:13 AM

https://slate.com/culture/2005/08/hollywood-s-death-spiral-part-2.html

The $64 billion question in Hollywood these days is what to do about collapsing the boundary between a movie’s theatrical and video release — the so-called video window. Gradually, this window has shrunk from six months to four months — and, in the case of many children’s movies — to three months. Even worse, DVD releases are often announced while a movie is still playing in the multiplexes. As a result, more moviegoers now wait to buy or rent a movie on DVD, which leads to shorter theatrical runs and a fall in worldwide theater attendance, which in turn puts more pressure on the studios to shorten the window even further.

. . . Back in the 1940s, when studios owned the movie houses and television was not yet available, more than 60 percent of the population went to the movies every week. Today, about 9 percent of the population goes. Just as the movie houses replaced vaudeville houses, home theaters with high-definition television could replace the multiplexes if the death spiral continues.

Spoiler Alert! The Death Spiral Continued For Another 20 Years! Movie theaters are not dead, yet. But in another 20 years the walk-in theaters might be as few as Drive-In movies are now.

You keep saying that, but I'm the guy who's predictions are coming true, aren't I?

I don't even give a shit about movies and TV Shows dude.

Hollywood was the canary in the coalmine.

And it told me all about how Democrats were going to be thoroughly destroyed in the 2024 election and how they would be eradicated soon afterward.

Tick Tock, keep on going through life never learning any lessons or ever admitting that you were wrong about anything and enjoy all your pirated movies, scumbag.

I can make predictions. Each new Avatar movie will sell fewer tickets than the previous one. See, I am right already, proving that TV is taking audiences away from movie theaters:

Dec 18, 2009 Avatar $785,221,649 $2,923,706,026
Dec 16, 2022 Avatar 2 $684,075,767 $2,312,413,227
Dec 19, 2025 Avatar: Fire and Ash
Dec 21, 2029 Avatar 4
Dec 19, 2031 Avatar 5

Occam's Razor would suggest it's just because sequels tend to make less money.

Also, both movies were completely forgettable and mid-tier under the flashy CGI. The first movie was an Event. The 2nd movie still made a lot of money, but the excitement around it was nowhere near the level of the first movie. Short of some new major innovation unveiled during showings of the 3rd movie, that reaction is going to be impossible to replicate outside of the Avatar movies, let alone inside of them.

I suspect the third one will do quite a bit worse, now that everybody realizes in retrospect that they've watched two movies they thought they enjoyed but realize they don't actually remember anything about.

$8.5 Million this weekend.

First sub-million day was Thursday. Every day this week will be somewhere around $500k, and it won't gross over a million on Cheap Seat Tuesday.

Just hit $370 Million now. The only thing that might possibly still get this over $400 Million is the international audience not dropping as fast as the US box office did. There was at least $10 Million more there than I would have expected.

In a normal year, Blacktain wouldn't have had 5 straight weeks without any competition, even this early in the year. And I don't expect Snow White next week to hurt what's left of this run at all.

The media cope is just gross on this one...

‘Captain America: Brave New World’ Is Officially One of the Highest-Grossing Action Movies in US Box Office History

https://collider.com/captain-america-brave-new-world-box-office-milest
one-highest-grossing-action-movie

Quote:

Captain America: Brave New World has been the subject of plenty of criticism since its Valentine's Day 2025 release, with audiences and critics alike mixed in their response to the latest entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, the movie has still managed to dominate much of its time in theaters, topping the box office charts for almost all its run despite earning perhaps less than the folks behind the film had once imagined. Currently, Brave New World has earned a global total of $372 million, split between a domestic haul of $179 million and $193 million from overseas markets.

Yes. It dominated the worst opening of a post-covid and non-covid related year's box office of all time and then you judge every movie ever made before it on the numbers they made in their year of release and no inflationary adjustments are made.

What was it up against again in the box office? What movies have been in theaters so far in 2025?

Nobody even remembers. What an accolade.

Quote:

It is this domestic total that marks Brave New World's latest box office achievement, having already surpassed Captain America: The First Avenger both domestically and worldwide

First off, The First Avenger was released in 2011. It grossed $176,654,505 in America years before Marvel started dropping multiple billion dollar movies each year. Adjusted for inflation, First Avenger made $250,589,149.79 in the US box office. A number that Blacktain will never come close to reaching.

Secondly, The First Avenger cost $40 Million less to make, and at a time when you only needed to make 2 times the budget to break even. The entire run worldwide was $370,569,776, or $525,663,158.75 when adjusted for inflation. On a $140 Million budget (adjusted to $198.5 Million today), that means it saw a profit of $128 Million for Disney in 2025 dollars.

Conversely, Blacktain Anti-America cost $180 Million at a time where you need 2.5 times the production budget to break even. That means it needs to get $450 Million just to break even today, and it's not even going to come close to that.

Quote:

and taken the likes of Harrison Ford to new box office heights.

HA! You heard it here folks. This movie was Peak Harrison Ford...

Though they unsurprisingly don't go into ANY specifics on that blatant lie, there's no doubt their logic behind that obviously false statement relies very, very, VERY heavily on not factoring inflation into any of their numbers and hoping their stupid readership remains too stupid to know how they're being lied to every time Collider writes an article.

Quote:

Thanks to the most recent daily figures showcasing that Brave New World took home $781,000 on March 12, the latest MCU entry has now officially entered the top 100 highest-grossing action movies of all time at the US box office. Brave New World has now overtaken the former holder of the #100 spot, Men in Black 3, albeit by just over $100,000. Next in line for Cap to overtake is 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine, with the coming weekend likely to see Brave New World rise to at least #90 in the list.

Once again, nobody is factoring inflation into any of this. I doubt it made the Top 1,000 of all time if you did. Nobody is impressed that it's going to beat X-Men Origins: Wolverine, even if they are too stupid to understand that you're comparing this huge box office bomb to another terrible movie that came out 16 years ago. And the mere fact that XMO: Wolverine was number 99 on the all-time Top 100 list of action movies where it certainly has no place at all is a hilarious example of just why you don't make an all-time top grossing movie list without adjusting for inflation first.

That movie grossed $374,825,760 worldwide on a $150 Million budget at a time when you only needed twice the production budget to break even. Adjusted for inflation, Wolverine made $557,480,309.47. A number that Blacktain Anti-America will fall short of by $150 Million. Everyone knows that X-Men Origins: Wolverine was a trash movie that gets ridiculed relentlessly online even to this day, and that it was considered a major flop by the industry at the time. And here you are in 2025, simping for Disney and trying to tell people this movie did good because it beat XMO: Wolverine 16 years later, without adjusting anything for inflation.

Make this make sense.

Also, you don't want to bring up Men in Black 3 at all, dummy. It did a hell of a lot better internationally than it did in the states and it made $654,213,485 worldwide on a $215 Million budget back in 2012. It grossed worldwide $250 Million more than Blacktain will make despite 13 additional years of inflation under Blacktain's belt, and it saw a profit of $224 Million for Sony Pictures. I didn't even have to put that one through the inflation calculator for it to put the smack-down on Blacktain 13 years later. Those are all 2012 numbers for MIB3.

Get fucked liars. The world you thought you were living in 6 months ago no longer exists. You're all about to be laid off.

And it's all your own fault.

Blacktain Anti-America doesn't crack $5.5 Million this weekend and comes in 15% lower than Bruce's prediction.

Worldwide Total now stands at $388,596,912 on a $180 Million budget which requires $450 Million to break even.

It very likely doesn't see a day above half a million this week, save for possibly Cheap Seat Tuesday (I'm throwing that in there because it actually did make over $1 Million last Tuesday when I said it wouldn't break $1 Mil per day last week).

Even at 50% drops from here on out, it probably still doesn't crack $400 Million like I said it wouldn't, but it really is probably too close to tell at the moment. Especially since I haven't been tracking internationals at all and I really have no idea how much money that's still bringing in. In the event that it does manage to clear $400 Million, it will not be by much.

Pathetic and a huge loss for Disney either way.
