I saw this last Friday, which was probably opening night. Cinemaplex had about 4 or 5 screens showing this. I practically had the place to myself. Couple in front of me, 4 or 5 behind me, this is about 9:30, light rain had decreased to sprinkles.

Well, they went down the rabbit hole of Irony with Dead Reckoning, and this was "Part II" of that film. So they were still stuck with the albatross of fighting against the enemy, which was essentially Fake News - while their very own production was shut down for the Fake News of Covid, delaying release for years, so the the reality of Fake News already gaslighting them until the release was AFTER Fake News had already pwnd them.

When planning this release date, they did not foresee that Trump would win 2024 and their Election Re-Steal would fail, and Trump's blitzkrieg against Fake News is melting down and collapsing all of the Fauci lies, Covid lies, Fake News narratives.
Their timing for this release was just crap amidst reality.

Perhaps they moderated this a bit. Although constantly mentioning it, and trying to sell us on the gaslighting, it actually feels like they tried to tone it down a bunch - to make themselves less fools. I felt they made a big effort regarding this, but I have no keen insight about it.

So, they attempted to minimize the irony. How woke was it?
The time is 2026 - either 15 years after 2011 or 14 years after 2012, I forget which reference they used. The sinking of the sub was 2011 or 2012. This film is still occurring a short time after the last, which I don't recall if that one laid down a timeline.
The President is still a Black Birthing person - she now has a grown son, but doesn't seem to be married.
The apparent Commanding Officer of CVN-77, USS George H W Bush is a woman, directly from Central Casting for a lesbian. (the wiki page for CVN-77 tries to imply it entered service with female CO, but Adm Nora Tyson was Strike Group Commander, and never Captained GHWB - perhaps it has never had female Captain, except in MI:FR.)

Otherwise, Final Reckoning has some entertaining scenes.

Now, can we get on with The Edge of Tomorrow sequel?

I'm hearing Top Gun III now.

I really hope that's not true.

Apparently, he was scheduled to do an Alejandro Inarritu film now, then remake of Clint's The Gauntlet - with ScarJo and Dir McQuarry, then Broadsword, again with McQuarry, and an untitled SpaceX film.

But he now pulled out of Gauntlet to be replaced with Top Gun 3.

WARNING! There may be spoilers in these posts!

I saw it Tuesday. Loved it. When we left the theater, I didn’t think I needed to see it again at the theater. But later, I wanted to see it again in a theater. Haven’t wanted to see a movie more than once in a theater in quite a while.

I thought it was ironic that Ethan picked the George H. W. Bush air craft carrier because President George H. W. Bush was a Director of the C.I.A who became president and President Erika Sloan was also a C.I.A Director.

Checked the internet in our reality and A.I. says only Director of the C.I.A to become President was President George H. W. Bush. Checked at least one other source on the internet.
