What? Are you taking lessons for Lying By Omission from MSNBC?

The whole post:

Bruce predicts only a -27% drop for some reason this weekend on Weapons, even with a projected $66.8 Million for Conjuring. I would have thought there would be some serious overlap between the two and Weapons would have been buried under it.

So far, he's not right. It's dropped -44% from Friday to Friday, but looking just at F/F drops rarely paints the weekend picture, so I guess we wait and see.

ETA:

Well... he does mention this at the end of his prediction article...

Quote:

With all the returning films coming out of a slight uptick thanks to Labor Day last weekend, we might see some steep drops on the chart when we get the numbers on Saturday and Sunday. The model partially accounts for that, but drops of 40% or more for all the returning films are quite likely, in my opinion.

... which is basically what I said on the 2nd regarding Fantastic 4's smaller than expected Labor Day Weekend drop:

Quote:

I fully expect FF4 to end up taking a larger than normal dive next weekend to make up for this temporary bump it got with zero new competition.

ETA2:

And a deeper look at Friday's numbers in general appear to support this theory all around.

Friday to Friday drops:

Weapons: -45%
Freakier Friday: -47%
Caught Stealing: -71%
The Roses: -68%
Fantastic Four: -43%
The Bad Guys 2: -62%
Superman: -62%
The Naked Gun: -70%
F1: The Movie: -55%
Jurassic World Rebirth: -66%
Nobody 2: -81%
Toxic Avengare Unrated: -90%
Honey Don't: -90%
Lilo & Stitch: -93%

Which was in reference to the last paragraph of the previous post:

Quote:

Oh well. WB should be more than pleased at this result even if it nosedives now. It's done well.

Weapons fell -49% for Weekend 5. Bruce's model said it would only fall -27%.

Weapons made $5,370,000 on weekend 5, which was right in between the $5-$6 Million I predicted it was going to make on Weekend 5.

I was right... again.

Bruce's model was wrong... again.

Who is going to make the movies when nobody pays to see them?

Every single streaming service on the planet including Netflix has done nothing but lose money every quarter they've been in existence.

If they don't figure out how to get asses back in seats, they'll just stop making anything new for you to pirate.

The two movies I liked in the last year were low budget and no dialogue:

1) Myth of Man (2025)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt31272547/

2) Flow (2024)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4772188/

The world would be better if there was less talking and fewer high budget movies.

King author, this piece of sicko degenerate filth keeps getting movie deals and has a movie The Long Walk. He used to also write under the pseudonym Richard Bachman, a short story The Fifth Quarter was published under the pseudonym John Swithen, the Long Walk was published under the Bachman author name.

For teenagers and kids reading his books his horror might seem original but he seems to have stolen a lot of material or got inspired by other works. King seems to have taken material from other authors such as the dark fantasy Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury, King acknowledges the influence of Bram Stoker, Shirley Jackson, Don Robertson's novels Robert A. Heinlein's book The Door into Summer, writings of Joseph Payne Brennan and a fan and influenced by the work of John D. MacDonald.

King is neither a great writer nor is he original

You ever hear about Richard Bachman's book RAGE?

It was like a blueprint for school shootings back before school shootings were a thing. I think he published that either before I was born, or right after I was born.

Then there was the child sex scenes in his book "IT" that didn't make it to either of the movie versions they made, for obvious reasons.

ETA: King wrote RAGE while he was in High School in 1970. He didn't release it until after he was publishing books under his own name.

its beating the previous Japan toon Demon slayer that came out during Covid, it looks like it will kick the ass of 'Lightyear'

Demon Slayer is fighting to keep pace with How to Train Your Dragon

This Japan anime is doing good in cinema it is beating most other foreign langauge box office records in North America and maybe Europe also

Thunderbolts is $190,000,000
F1: The Movie $189,000,000
Weapons $147,000,000

Worldwide it is already in the Top12 Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie
$386,894,092 so it already has a chance to beat Captain America remake Brave New World

I expect it to try push toward getting a Top10 if it does another foreign langauge movie will knock a US Hollywood movie out of the Top10 on the USA's home turf despite Trump's attempt at saving Hollyweird culture and economics with his tariff and sanctions

Yeah. I hadn't heard about it until a YT video about it popped up in my feed the other day. It wasn't the one I sent you, because I couldn't find the one that I'd watched when I looked for it later.

I grew up surrounded by Stephen King. Both my Dad and Mom were huge fans of his writing, and it was about the only thing they had in common.

They're both 3 times Trump voters and are just as sick of King's shit as we are.

I troll that dude constantly on Twitter.

Demon Slayer from Japan beating US Hollywood movies on their home turf, Japan anime is winning in North American theater vs US movie releases, World Wide with total now at $484 + M
the cartoon movie might beat Angels & Demons a 2009 American mystery thriller film based on Dan Brown's 2000 novel of the same title, sequel to Da Vinci Code
the Japanese toon is moving strong, it has a shot at being the highest grossing foreign film in cinema, 'Anime' has become a big hit

What Is It About Robert Redford?

By Richard Rayner | May 10, 1998

https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/1998/05/18/robert-redford-profile-e
xistential-cowboy

Robert Redford told me a story recently about John Huston and his 1948 film “The Treasure of the Sierra Madre.” The movie, based on a B. Traven novel, is about three American treasure seekers who find gold in the mountains of Mexico, go crazy, and end up trying to kill one another. Redford saw the film as a child of eleven, and regards it as one of the most meaningful cinematic experiences of his life. “The Treasure of the Sierra Madre” is uncompromising in its emotional intensity and its depiction of a character—Fred C. Dobbs, played by Humphrey Bogart—made paranoid and homicidal by his appetite for money. “Huston was interested in greed and power,” Redford said. “I, too, find them appealing, because greed and power make things go. The wheel finally turns on greed and power. They’re the motives that are important to know. All systems that control us, whether political or financial, or simply an industry that controls a town, run on greed and power.”

Charles Robert Redford, Jr., born in a Spanish-speaking neighborhood of Santa Monica on August 18, 1937, was the only child of a Scots-Irish milkman who later became an accountant and who, in the early nineteen-fifties, moved his small family into a tract home in the San Fernando Valley, in search of a better life. “It didn’t seem like a better life to me,” Redford said. “It seemed like a step down. Back then, the Valley was a big oven with nothing in it, a great sea of nothing, an ocean with no ships on it, and at night if you went out there were very few lights. I spent my time wanting to leave. So it was sports and getting into trouble. And cruising and getting into trouble. Drag racing on Van Nuys Boulevard.”

Redford was a gifted athlete but bone idle. He also hated school, and often skipped it—a rebellion against his family, many of whom were educators. He had twin great-aunts who were both teachers, one a Republican, the other a Communist and a follower of Emma Goldman. They died within ten days of each other, both run over, one on the East Coast, the other on the West. His uncle, a Rhodes Scholar, had a contract to play baseball for the St. Louis Browns, enlisted, and was serving in Patton’s Third Army when he was killed by a German sniper in Belgium. “Don’t get me going about my family,” Redford said. “It’s a lot of bad luck.” His father was obsessed with not having enough money. “When I was born, my father earned thirty-five dollars a week. I remember hearing that figure most of my life. It was jammed down my throat, or up my ass. Somebody who’d worked so hard for so little didn’t take kindly to his kid lying in the grass staring at clouds. He’d say it over and over again, ‘Thirty-five dollars a week, thirty-five dollars a week, thirty-five dollars a week.’ I obviously wasn’t going to amount to much. It gave me an edge. I went out looking for it, the wildest possible edge, and I went after it with a vengeance.”

His mother died when Redford was eighteen, and soon after he left the Valley to attend the University of Colorado (he started as a prelaw student and then changed to art). “I wasn’t happy. I was drinking, and talking all the time about going to Europe, dreaming about Utrillo and Matisse and Braque,” Redford recalls. “I wanted to be in that place, where they’d been. I’d wanted out of L.A., but Colorado wasn’t far enough. I had a teacher, Richard Dudley, who said, ‘Don’t talk. Just go do it.’ ”

So in 1956, Redford dropped out and left. “Around the time I went to Europe, I got interested in who I was. I felt as though a film had been ripped from my eyes. I’d done sports, I’d done trouble, and suddenly something clicked into place. I went everywhere with a pad, sketching, drawing pictures, making notes. A consciousness is what happened to me.”

He had, in effect, a crash course in European politics. He met French communists who attacked his naïve certainty in the virtue of the American system. In Paris, he lived in a derelict house, still bomb-damaged, with a bunch of students and artists. He went to Vienna, where he helped refugees from the Hungarian rising. On New Year’s Eve, in Rome, he was spotted by Ava Gardner as she swept into a restaurant, and she kissed him on the lips. In his telling of his own story, in his self-mythology, I suspect, this period has assumed more and more importance for Redford the older he’s got. He told me that he went to Europe feeling embarrassed and stupid, less experienced than many of his generation, and much more ignorant, and came back, feeling ten years older, as if he knew secrets they didn’t. He did not return to the West Coast but became a student at the Pratt Institute, in Brooklyn, and met and married Lola Van Wagenen, a seventeen-year-old Mormon from Provo, Utah. His acting career began in 1959, with a walk-on. He played a basketball player in a comedy, and wasn’t required to speak a line. He was twenty-two.

“There was an arrogance when I started to act,” Redford said, recalling those first unlikely parts he played—a sociopath, a criminal, bad guys. “I felt I could do it. I hadn’t had much experience, but when I got into it, when I shifted from art to acting, something happened very naturally, and then I took it seriously and worked hard at it, and then I developed a curious confidence about it. I could do it. And I knew I could do it better than a lot of people. And I don’t know why.”

He went on a big apology tour over that Kirk comment. I doubt it was any more genuine than when Rosie O'Donnell made her big apology only a week earlier, but these are two of the last people you'd ever expect to be issuing apologies for their behavior. Times have changed. They know this now.

We'll be watching both of them.

Stephen King’s ‘The Long Walk’ Bombs At Box Office Following Charlie Kirk Comments: 33-Year Low

FUCK YOU STEVE.

I hope the Kirk Estate sues you into oblivion for spreading your hate and your Legacy Media lies.

Do you realize that King did no work on The Long Walk? But he got paid, anyway:

The Long Walk is a 2025 American dystopian survival thriller film directed and produced by Francis Lawrence from a screenplay by JT Mollner. It is based on the 1979 novel of the same name by Stephen King (under his pseudonym Richard Bachman).

Stephen King wrote The Long Walk between 1966 and 1967 as a freshman in college, but it was not published until 1979 under the pseudonym Richard Bachman. He began the novel as a teenager, completing his first draft at 19 years old. He is 77 years old today, born September 21, 1947. Next week, he will be 78. It shows that Hollywood is silly to make that novel into a movie, but King doesn't care.

By the way, Charlie Kirk's resurrection after burial in the Pet Cemetery (or Pet Sematary, alternate Stephen King spelling) will not be made into a movie because who buys tickets to movies about some dead Angry-Poor-White-Trash/Propagandist/Trumptard?

The Charlie Kirk/Turning Point USA story would make a stupendous Hollywood movie.

It's Hollywood material. Turning Point USA is ART! Let's consider that the other founder died from COVID in 2020. Two people start a conservative organization to push COVID conspiracies and pro-gun ideals, among other things. One dies of COVID. The other dies of gun violence. It's so on the nose that it's actually cliche, which is perfection for Hollywood!

Don't care.

But he did come out and apologize, admit he was wrong, and admit that he got sucked in by propaganda without fact checking it.

And the fact that King has "Fuck You" money and didn't need to apologize but still did shows us that as big of an asshole as Steve is, and he is a gaping asshole, he's still a better man than either you or Ted are.

Demon Slayer Japan Anime a big US opening and it has nice music

...but....doing 'Elio' numbers now, even Thunderbolts didnt crash this hard and its the wrong time of year for box office

Huge drop on Demonslayer 2025 First Wednesday and First Thursday

it can still beat The Fantastic Four remake Worldwide and can stay in the Top10 unless another bunch of Pixar / Disney toons are coming before Christmas or a movie like Tron Ares does great numbers

Stephen King's 'The Long Walk' did $1,070,759 on Wednesday...it could be sub 1 million already? they wont even release the Thursday numbers

Good call. They put the numbers out after you posted this...

$895,698 for Thursday (Day 7)

$18 Million worldwide on a $20 Million budget. It probably doesn't need $50 Million to break even being a low-budget Lionsgate film and it probably wasn't very heavily advertised, but it probably won't hit $40 Million anyhow.
