EXAMINER.COM - Nathan Fillion, star of ABC's crime drama "Castle," is also in James Gunn's upcoming movie "Super." Fillion has tweeted the trailer, which you can watch here by clicking the box on the left. He also has a message for the high-priced brand:

That looks great.
I was worried when I first heard about it that it would be a rip on Kick-Ass but my fears were unfounded. I'd watch this just because cutie-pie Ellen Page is in it so adding Nathan is the cherry on top. His outfit looks hilarious.

Looking forward to this.

How is that not a rip off of Kick Ass exactly? I mean it doesn't look like it's a direct copy but it's pretty much the exact same concept. It still looks funny and worth watching but I don't think there's any way they're going to avoid the comparison.

There will be comparisons made and rightly so. Both feature normal folks who wear costumes to fight crime, but IMO Kick-Ass was a funny, OTT movie with a darker edge and some serious moments in it that looked into what made these people do the things they do, even if it doesn't go really deep it's there. For Big Daddy and Hit Girl it's about family and defending that family. For Kick-Ass, to me, it was about finding a place where he fitted in, where he wasn't the victim.
Super appears to be more of an OTT comedy/spoof with less of a darker side. It may even be spoofing Kick-Ass. Of course I only have the trailer to go on at the moment.

I differentiate them in the same way as I would Serenity and Galaxy Quest. Not the best examples but it's all I can think of right now. Both are spaced based scifi featuring the crew of a ship. Both have action and comedy but where they differ is that Serenity has far more depth and delves into the characters deeper. Galaxy Quest is a comedy which heavily spoofs on Star Trek and is played for laughs. Both are standout movies in their own right.
Would anyone say Serenity is a rip of Galaxy Quest? I don't think so.

Just my opinion on what I see.
