I'm saving the best for last, Martin Scorsece's Hugo. For me Hugo doesn't need to be presented in 3D, both because of the movie's theme and the irrepressable Scorsece. He gives a master class in movie making while all along entertaining you with a wonderful story. It is old fashioned filmaking at it's best. Magical, albeit somewhat dark, Hugo is the story of the history of film. It is the story of inspiration, of purpose and belief. Scorsece pays homage to the early filmakers and, at the same time, promotes the importance of film preservation. At no point do you feel that you being lectured to, quite the contrary, you are transposed, transfix and transported to the magical land in far off Paris, France. It is a labor of love and a masterpiece by the wizard of film Martin Scorsece.
