Quote:Originally posted by SHINYGOODGUY: According to Box Office Mojo Ragnarok just made $121M this weekend, surpassing even industry estimated levels. That's domestic levels. Of course it doesn't come close to the Avengers opening weekend which grossed $207M, so it has some catching up to do if it's going to challenge their take. The second week of The Avengers had a 50% drop off, so let's see what happens to Thor: Ragnarok. But Disney is laughing all the way to the bank, so I don't think they will care too much. Besides Thor: 'Rok cost $40M less to produce ($180M), so there's that. Director Waititi caught the essence of the Avengers with his irreverent take on the Thor saga and the overall Marvel Universe, but time will tell if it can deliver at the box office. SGG

SGG Avengers was 5 1/2 years ago? Time flies. Anyway, Avengers released on 4 May, and this Thor on 3 November. Different Box Office context.
