CBS NEWS: Hasbro to cut 1,100 employees, or 20% of its workforce

https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/companies/hasbro-to-cut-1100-employees
-or-20-of-its-workforce/ar-AA1llRHJ

The decision comes after softer-than-anticipated toy sales through the first nine months of 2023, with the difficulties expected to continue into next year, he wrote. Hasbro makes toys and games including Monopoly, Dungeons & Dragons and Play-Doh.

Oh. Monopoly, Dungeons & Dragons and Play-Doh, huh CBS NEWS?

Yanno... speaking of Monopoly, there's a couple of Disney brands that Hasbro has been making for the last decade plus too. You may have heard of them?

Star Wars? Marvel? Ringing any bells?

No?

Well... I suppose I can't fault you there since they are kind of niche properties and they haven't become a household name in America yet.

Oh well. I'm sure that has nothing to do with Hasbro failing anyway. I mean, according to the article...

Quote:

Inflation and the resumption of student-loan payments are taking a bite out of many households' disposable income, Morgan Stanley wrote in a recent research note looking at sluggish holiday retail sales.

Of course! Student-Loan payments. *head slap*!!! I'm so lucky we have the News outlets out there to tell us what to think because thinking is so hard!

I'm really glad that CBS is telling us that inflation is taking a bit out of many households' disposable income because it really felt like that was happening but they kept telling us that inflation didn't exist or was transitory and they're always right about everything! I must have just been imagining inflation until today.

And stupid me again... I was going to blame Hasbro's failure and the loss of nearly 2,000 jobs this year alone on this... but thankfully CBS NEWS just deleted this video from my brain!

Thanks CBS NEWS!!!!

For real... Hasbro should file a lawsuit against Disney for ruining their company with The Agenda too.

Play-Doh huh? That's what I bought for the Toys for Tots box at work. (I loved that stuff has a kid) Maybe I can get some Star Wars crap cheap and throw that into the box.

So you hate kids, huh?

For real though... You might find some decent characters to give them. Even with the Marvel brand too. They've destroyed most interest in both brands that characters that people would have actually wanted don't sell out and end up at Ollies these days. I've paused some of these videos and seen the standard size action figures as cheap as $3.99 and even $1.99.

I'm sure you know what characters to buy if you see them and which ones to not bother with.

If they can figure out how to redo Transformers a cartoon or game or movie tv series they are back in business. The original brothers are dead and Power Rangers and Dungeons and Dragons is not as popular anymore, its not the 60s, 70s or 1980s...but I think it survives they keep selling Monopoly, Play-Doh, Twister for kids Uni College stoner drunker and My Little Pony and other board games, some of its other brands might die. Big call though and will predictions come through in the end, 'Barbie' movie got big money WB Mattel Ruth Handler family, Transformers Hasbro Paramount Michael Bay was another franchise, every StarWars and Comicbook thing had their own toy makers, you have trends and fads like Beanie Babies, Pokemon etc Hot Wheels ...also Political Fallout, Wars, Gasoline Price, maybe its the 'Recession' nobody wants to talk about.

They probably should have bought the toy license for Dragonball Goku toons, Mario, Sonic, Anime, Japan Video Games, Horror movie characters, South Korea weird stuff like Squid Games.

The reason I put something into that box (A pack cost around $5) was so everyone wouldn't think I was a Hum Bug...which I am. BUT, a lot of people have thrown cheap crap into that box, most of the crap in there I'm sure only cost a few bucks. Merry Christmas.

I just wanted to make clear that I was just making a joke that you hate kids because you were going to buy them Star Wars toys that can't sell at Ollies.

I wasn't trying to insult you. Not sure from your reply, but if that's how you took it I didn't mean that.

Needy children do not need price tags to enjoy toys, or play with them. I learned long ago that when I let children pick their own gifts, they do not automatically gravitate to the most expensive.
kids who whine about the price of their toys are NOT the Needy Children which Toys For Tot is intended for.

Thank You, sincerely, for your contribution. Some unfortunate and Needy Child will be happy for your gift.

Merry Christmas, Mr. Humbug. And Semper Fidelis.

Yeah. That's a really nice thing you're doing. And prices don't matter.

That's why I wanted to be clear that I was just making a joke if that didn't translate over the internet. You're one of the few people on this board who's never said anything shitty to me, and I don't want you to feel like I just did that to you, especially when it's about you doing something nice for kids on Christmas.

(The REAL) Spider-Man figures might be pretty hard to come by at Ollies, but Thor and Iron Man seem to have a surplus in these videos, and it appears there is quite a lot of old Star Wars character figures remade that are on the Ollies shelves as well. Just stay away from the Shun Chi, The Eternals and any New Star Wars characters and they'll probably be thrilled.
