... Is what I'd title my article if I were an indoctrinated Millennial brainlet working at Variety.com and had this information at my fingertips.

Though it's not final because there are still some movies from 2023 that will be in theaters for another month or two and Bruce will probably be making minor adjustments to some of the international numbers on them until August of next year, we're pretty much at the end of the 2023 Top 100 Worldwide Box Office results now.

So before I get into some interesting details (in the Hollywood Thread) and why and how Disney saved Hollywood in 2023 here, first take a look at the list below...

The very first thing I'd like to point out to you is that as of 01/04/2024, you can see in the very last row and very last column that Hollywood's Net Profit for all 74 US released movies that had hit the Top 100 Worldwide in 2023 was only $77,462,743.

That's not a typo. That's not incorrect math. That's a fact, Jack.

Take a moment to soak that in and get a good laugh.

Now... This was the final number AFTER adding back Disney's Peter Pan & Wendy, which cost a staggering $170 Million to make, but they decided (wisely) not to even bother releasing it in theaters and they just dumped it on Disney+ as quietly as they could get away with.

So... How did Disney save Hollywood in 2023?

Well... Had they released Peter Pan & Wendy in the theaters, the 2.5x Rule of Thumb would have been applied to it, and instead of only costing Disney $170 Million on the lost production costs when it was thrown directly to streaming, it would have started its theatrical run with a deficit of $425 Million to overcome with marketing costs and theater takes to consider.

That's an additional $255 Million that wasn't subtracted from the final Hollywood Totals.

And when we're already looking at a pathetic total 2023 Hollywood profit of only $77,462,743, well...

What do YOU think the chances are that Peter Pan & Wendy would have made more than $177,537,257 in theaters if it were released?

Notice the lack of news from the entertainment press on how bad Paramount is doing AND, how well little Angel Studios is doing.
