Gee whiz, I really should have asked earlier:

What are the best SCI-FI films of the year?

Getting close to halfway through the year. At the end of the calendar, sometimes it is hard to recall all the great films from the early part of the year, getting overshadowed by the summer blockbusters and award season royalty.
So let's take a moment to recall and list which films have been your favorites so far this year.

So far my list is:
The Promise
Gifted
Colossal
Megan Leavey
John Wick 2
Brimstone is listed as 2016, but has a release date in 2017, so including it.
The Mummy
Baywatch (not because of greatness, but due to not much else better)

As I look at it, none of the ones I was most looking forward to have panned out. I was hoping to list 10 films, but either they have been lame so far, or I already forgot some good ones. Help remind me.

Other films mentioned in this thread:
Logan
Wonder Woman
Hidden Figures (released 2016)
Transformers 5: The Last Knight
Spiderman
Autopsy of Jane Doe
The Belko Experiment
Dark Tower
Logan Lucky
Before I Fall
Wind River
Valerian
Guardians of The Galaxy 2
Atomic Blonde
Alien: Covenant
The Last Jedi
The Big Sick
Dunkirk
Bad Batch
Baby Driver
Book of Henry
War of Planet of the Apes
Detroit
Bladerunner 2049
Gotti
Justice League
Wonder
Thor 3: Ragnarok
Una
The Shape of Water
3 Billboards Outside of Ebbing, Missouri
Snowman
Molly's Game
Mudbound
Battle of the Sexes
Coco
It
Get Out
Kingsmen 2
Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul
Jumanji 3

It looks like I really dropped the ball with updating the OP in the Fall. I got really busy around then. I think I have it updated now, seem to have every one included. Let me know if I missed some.

My list for best, or Top Ten Sci-Fi films of 2017:
The Dark Tower
Colossal
Bladerunner 2049
Transformers 5
Valerian
GotG2
Alien: Covenant
The Shape of Water

Dark Tower and Colossal are on their own plateau. Bladerunner and Transformers halfway to the next lower plateau. I have heard some complain about the editing of Dark Tower, but it seemed to me the transitions were in line with the overall cadence and pacing - not like an Uwe Boll work. I've only seen it 2-3 times, and at that time only had Colossal to compare caliber to.

If Logan, Wonder Woman were Sci-Fi, they would fit at the bottom.
I have not seen Thor, Justice League, Apes, Jumanji.
Bad Batch and Last Jedi were disappointing.

What are yours?

lol... Uwe Boll is freakin' awesome.

I find his movies to be entertaining like The Room, but because of his supercharged ego it's even better. Nothing about the guy makes any sense, especially how he was able to keep getting so much money and such good actors into his terrible movies. When he started boxing critics that shit on his work, I had a dude-crush on the guy. He's seriously one of my favorite Hollywood type people.

I could watch Bloodrayne once every year. Not only do you get to see Kristiana Loken at her peak in one of the sexiest outfits ever in cinema, but you get to look at a (probably) drunk Michael Madsen phoning it in so hard that every line he says is priceless.

Do Right, Be Right. :)
