Film's producer announced he is running for president of Mexico. I fear he will be quickly assassinated.
But think about if he and Trump are President at the same time.

I wonder if Trump convinced him to run, when Trump held that Private Screening at his Club in Jersey.

Today, TN updates UK, Australia, NZ. Also started moving around things, placed North America into the list.

BOM added El Salvador - but without details. Still no Australia.

You're not going to mention the $26.9 Million that Bruce is reporting SoF now has overseas?

Did you not see that or my previous post? Or are you just tempering your expectations that this was a math mistake on Bruce's part?

That page is a mess right now, just like when I am building a post or table, and are interrupted. I see the figures do not add up, and are missing about $20M, but I defer comment until I can see what he is trying to show.
For him to move the North America figures into the international page is a huge change for his site - maybe SoF caused him to change? I assume it is a massive undertaking for him to do. Likely not done in minutes.

I'm not including the marketing budget. I never include the marketing budget for any movie before applying the 2.0x and 2.5x Rule of Thumb to the movies.

Quote:

5 years after the Production Budget was completed, as part of the Production Budget of this film.

Again, that's not what I'm doing. Part of PRODUCING a movie is DISTRIBUTING the movie. It makes no difference if it's 1 year, 5 years or 100 years after the movie was filmed and edited. If Angel Studios needed $500k in 2023 to secure distributing rights, and it raised that money on a crowdfunding platform to do so, that is part of the Production Budget and not part of the Marketing Budget.

As I stated before, if Angel Studios comes out and shows that they paid that money back plus some, as I've seen before you stated this event took place, then the Production Budget was actually less than the original $14 Million that it cost. I will simply need irrefutable proof of these events taking place.

I told you that I don't remember where I got it from. I did not make it up, but aside from a few Christian blogs now I don't see this information anywhere.

I told you that I don't believe in the Mandela Effect. I simply can't find any source that I consider would be unbiased and legitimate that states the budget was only $14 Million today when at the beginning of this thread I had found such an article that I felt met that criteria. My mistake was not citing the reference at the time and/or archiving an article of the statement.

Mandela Effect merely describes Libtards.

I know what the Mandela Effect is, and I don't believe it for a second.

The inability to read and comprehend what somebody said is also something that Libtards do.

You're not a closeted Libtard yourself, are you JSF?

Here's my reply to your previous two posts. I turned my double-post on the last page into this, but it was right at the end of the page and you'd since posted twice. I wanted to make sure you see it:

und-Freedom-producer-hails-success-14m-budget-film-moves-second-place-box-office-Mission-Impossible-having-grossed-85m.html

Producer states it is a $14M film. But, of course, how would HE know anything?

This, believe it or not, may have been the article that I saw way back when I put $14 Million as the budget.

However, now with the Crowdfunding for Distribution purpose (which I've already explained is part of the Production Budget and not the Marketing Budget), and with every other legitimate website in the world saying $14.5 Million was the budget, I will need actual proof of the events that took place and this additional money that was crowdfunded was returned if I'm going to lower the budget back to $14 Million. Not just some statement that isn't even a quote in a single article.

In the end, this could be better for SoF's chances of taking and maintaining the number one spot for 2023 if it leads to actual reciepts that people were paid a dividend off of this crowdfunding and the budget actually shrinks.

Meanwhile... If those International numbers that Bruce posted today are legit and don't get removed, it might be moot. If today's additions are due to 1st week BO numbers for the 18 Latin American countries Angel Studios said it was #1 in this weekend, the 2nd week is going to be really high as well. If it follows trends and makes even half as much in its second week in those countries, it beats M3GAN by next Sunday without taking into account any takes from other theaters we already have tracking for.

And with Talk To Me finally slowing down, it might not have to make much more than 1,508% of its budget to maintain first in the end.

So now I've read all three of these articles:

So this IS regarding marketing and "Print & Advertising" expenditures. This is very different from the story I heard that they raised $500k for acquiring distribution, which would fall under Production Budget.

This is still no proof that the budget of the movie itself was $14 Million. I need an actual quote from somebody at the studio saying specifically that it was budgeted at or under $14 Million if I'm going to make that claim.

However, what this DOES do, if there is a statement saying that this was the ONLY money required for Marketing purposes is actually make the Marketing Budget for Sound of Freedom the 20% return on 5 Million (or 1 Million dollars), which means that the only money that it needed to make was the production budget +1 Million and theater takes.

I wonder how that would calculate here?

That RoT of 2.0x or 2.5x applies to big budget movies and I don't think is an accurate model for low-budget movies.

Hear me out...

The Rule of Thumb, regardless of how much it actually is now in 2023, is to factor in not just the Marketing Budget of a movie, but how much a theater makes for every ticket sold. Since Marketing budgets are almost unanimously nebulous as well as the theater takes being next to impossible to figure out due to certain studios getting better deals than others and international showings making it even more complex, this is little more than a general rule to go by vs. the reported production budget.

But what happens when the production budget was next to nothing?

Well... to be sure, the same studio isn't going to spend much at all on marketing the movie and they're going to hope that good word of mouth promotes the film (and in the case of M3GAN, Sound of Freedom and Talk To Me they become viral sensations that didn't require much marketing).

But the theater take on movies like Sound of Freedom, M3GAN and Talk To Me with their micro-budgets is going to be a lot higher of a percentage of the production budgets than Disney movies with their insane $200 Million plus budgets as well.

I wonder how much SoF, M3GAN and Talk To Me actually make for the studios once the theater's takes are taken into account. The theaters aren't going to show these movies for free or show them at a loss just because the budgets to make them were small.

I've never considered this problem with low-budget movies before. I don't think that most folk who ever talk about and use the Rule of Thumb ever use it for small budget movies as we've been doing here. They're always talking about big budget flops put out by the major players.

I did consider it with HIGH budget movies that do extremely well though. I think that Barbie, Super Mario Bros and Oppenheimer actually grossed quite a bit less for the Studios than the 2.5x Rule of Thumb would indicate just because of the sheer number of tickets that were sold to get them that high. That wasn't just great business for the studios, but it was great business for the movie theaters too.

I think the best course of action is to just apply the Rule of Thumb(s) evenly across all movies until more information is available to us for the industry as a whole, regardless of if we have additional info for a specific movie.

That's what I'm doing with Barbie, despite the fact we know full well it had a Marketing budget of $5 Million more than the Production Budget and it would automatically make the 2.0x Rule of Thumb entirely fictional in that specific case.

If you start tampering with individual movies like that, you open up an insane can of worms. A rabbit hole, really. With rare exceptions like Barbie and Sound of Freedom, we will probably never know the actual marketing budgets for movies, and I doubt we'll ever get actual dollar figures for the theater takes on any movies. If we change the way we calculate what a movie needed to break even on an individual basis in one-off cases like this just because more data has been presented for a specific case (only when a movie is successful, I might add), then you just break the Rule of Thumb entirely and trying to track anything becomes a pointless endeavor.

I had intended to point out yesterday that it was the 70th day of release.
And still in wide release.
And I expected that it would surpass $200K over the weekend.
And only a few days ago SoF ranked 10th for $ per theater. The higher 12 were all newer releases.

3. Talk to Me - 1,400% (+0)
4. Super Mario Bros - 1,360% (+0%)
5. Insidious: The Red Door - 1,163% [FINAL]

SoF needs 54% to beat M3GAN. (About $8 Million)
SoF is 55% above Talk To Me.
SoF is 95% above Super Mario Bros.

It appears that those International numbers posted on the-numbers yesterday were correct.

There is now a "Rest of World" entry showing $18,441,127 properly, and there were more international numbers posted since yesterday to raise the international total to $27,592,574.

That's why it went up since yesterday. It only made $45,021 in the US on Monday.

Angel Studios was not involved until spring of 2023.

The producer had created his very own studio decades ago, so that he could create "films of impact" like this one.
He is the Producer of Sound of Freedom.
He clearly has said, numerous times, that the production Budget was $14M - but you say that is not good enough. We should prolly ask the overlords of google Libtards for guidance on what we should think.
He IS the studio.

If trends continue, I expect SoF to gain another 50% this week (end 20 Aug), and another 30% the next week (end 27 Aug), making it about 1315%.
Using Oppy as a guide, 1/5 of the International Box Office comes from UK, Australia, Mexico. i expect $18M from these 3, which would make it about 1445% when these are tallied. Australia starts trickling in after 24 Aug, and UK/Mexico after 1 Sep.

----------------------------
Bruce's predictions for the weekend do not show SoF in the Top Ten.
------------------
Today is the 57th day of release for SoF. 8 weeks.
No figures yet posted for Monday night SoF.
Sunday my local theater did not have any showings of SoF, but did for Fri, Sat, and the rest of this week. Theater counts did not change as listed.

I have "targets" that I expect from International, due to various factors. These are a reminder for me. They are likely to be wrong.

$14 M for UK
$7 M for Mexico, Australia, Brazil
$5 M for Peru
$3 M from NZ, Colombia, Argentina

These add up to $49 M. If they make half of that, plus another $4M from the rest of the world, then that would be $29M, and SoF would pass by Megan's 1505%.

I am not sure about some releases. Which countries are English speaking? I'll conjure that Spanish speaking countries will get a dubbed version of the film. Some countries with other languages, I don't know if they are being dubbed, or just released as "Foreign Language" film, like in art houses.

Updates from Bruce for International, plus BOM International are incomplete, missing, or conflict.

For 6 Sept, SoF is back in the Top Ten for $ per theater.

SoF needs 54% to beat M3GAN. (About $8 Million)
SoF is 55% above Talk To Me.
SoF is 95% above Super Mario Bros.

It appears that those International numbers posted on the-numbers yesterday were correct.

$8 Million is nothing now.

If Talk To Me is finally going to slow down, Sound of Freedom shouldn't even have a problem taking 1st place in this tracking even with the $14.5 Million Production Budget.

Most of that $17 Million it got the other night would have been from those Latin American countries that hadn't already been given initial numbers. I'd already tracked update for Australia and the UK as well as the Croatia numbers. The only thing that we know wasn't counted was the 3rd update for Mexico (there were two at the-numbers, but BOM has Mexico at almost $7.5 Million now). It's unclear if that $17 Million included this $3+ Million unreported on Mexico or not.

Even if it does include Mexico's unreported gross, That's still about $13.5 Million in new money, plus the $1 or so Million new in the last 24 hours. At a 50% drop (which is very conservative given most of those original numbers were likely only for the 1st weekend and the updates will be for a full 7 days), that's another $7-8 Million virtually guaranteed just in their 2nd weeks.

Sound of Freedom is now a $230 Million movie. That's the absolute bottom going forward. This will put it up close to 1,600% with the $14.5 Million budget figure. If it somehow manages $240 Million, that would be over 1650%.

UPDATE: Wow. Right after I posted this the Mexico numbers were updated at the-numbers to $7,535,143.

So yeah... all that new money did include what he hadn't added to Mexico's numbers. "Rest of World" now reads $14,882,127.

Still though... Mexico's probably good for at least another $1.5 Million next week and $750k the following week, so that's going to be around $14 to 15 Million just from Mexico and the 17 other Latin American countries in the next two weeks. Even more than that if it doesn't drop off 50% each week.

Talk To Me is going to get a bump soon-ish. We still don't have Monday's numbers for it. It needs $232k for a bump. It's not likely to get that on Monday, but it could on Tuesday and certainly does by Wednesday. TTM also tends to get international updates pretty sporadically during the week instead of on Sunday/Monday like most other flicks.

The percentages for both should be pretty close to tied again by the weekend with a slight edge given to SoF, but I think TTM is pretty much running out of gas even internationally. The only thing it's got going for it now is the 3x plus percentage bumps when it gets them.

I find it very hard to believe it's going to pull in another $4 to $5 Million over the next two weeks. It's pulled in $10 Million since August 28th, and about $7 Million of that was in the US, and the 18% drop it got last week was only due to Labor Day Weekend. (It dropped 51% this last weekend).

My guess is $1.5 Million Domestic this week (including the weekend that just passed), and $800k Domestic next week, with another $420k internationally this week and $225k internationally next week.

That's going to be just shy of $3 Million, with the $900k made in the US already accounted for so it will be subtracted from that. At most, Talk To Me gets about $2.5 to $3 Million more by the 24th of September (and I'm being VERY generous here), or roughly another 66% bump. With the 22% it's likely going to get tonight, let's call it 1,488%. It may only have 1,466% by September 24th though.

By that time, SoF should be around 1,558%. Maybe even as high as 1,572% or even 1,579% depending on the additional business it does in all the non-Latin American countries showing it.

I'm calling it now. Once this Sunday's international numbers come in, SoF takes 1st place on the 2023 list for Worldwide Gross vs. Production Budget.

It may take Bruce until next Tuesday to get them all updated and on his list, but that's a fact, Jack.

Well... I still think $230 Million is the floor for Sound of Freedom, but according to BOM's update this morning, the release date for all of those Latin American countries was August 31st.

If that's true, it's already had its 2nd weekend in theaters there and those numbers are from a LOT more than just the 1st weekend up until now.

Throw my prediction out that SoF takes first place this weekend now. That's not likely to happen.

It might get another $4-$5 Million by the weekend. Maybe somewhere around 1,482 to 1,489% by Sunday and should maintain 2nd place by around 20%. If it gets half that by the following weekend it could be around 1,503% by the following Sunday, which would just be $1 Million or so shy of dethroning M3GAN and taking 1st place if Talk To Me hasn't already done so (which I still don't think it will have).

I dunno. Finding out that these Latin American countries have all been allegedly showing it since August 31st kind of sucked the wind right out of the sails. And since we have little info on most countries for the opening weekend, it's hard to even gauge how these movies are still doing or how they're going to do moving forward. It could do better or worse than I just said it would.

With BOM showing Opening Weekends for Columbia ($1,098,931 of $2,507,576 total) and Mexico ($3,486,358 of $7,477,850 total), we can gleen a bit of info though.

Opening weekend for Columbia was 43.8% of the total box office through September 12th, which is when Bruce states the numbers were reported.

Opening weekend in Mexico was 46.6% of the total box office through September 12th.

Barbie's opening weekend in the US was 42.5% of its first 12 days Domestic.
Super Mario Bro's opening weekend in the US was 41.2% of its first 12 days Domestic.

On the flip side...
Blue Beetle's opening weekend in the US was 53.2% of its first 12 days Domestic.
The Little Mermaid's opening weekend was 48.2% of its first 12 days Domestic.

SoF seems to be more on the Barbie/SMB side of that equation in Latin America than on the side of the box office losers here. We also don't know if those numbers were up-to-date on the 12th when they were reported either. They likely weren't and just included data up through Sunday which would be Day 10 instead of Day 12.

The math here to make an accurate prediction for the next update with the little bit of info we have available to us now is a bit complex though and I don't feel like diving much deeper into it. We just have to wait until after next weekend and see what lies in store.

Gobs of new figures showing at BOM, after I posted last night.

Some number are goofy.

UK figures dropped by about 24K, from 11/12 Sep to last night. Similar at The Numbers.

Colombia figures jumped up about 50K today, after updating from the weekend on 11/12 Sep.

Mexico figures don't add up. The cumulative total from a week ago was 3,976,143 and this weekend they report another 3,836,818. Which would add up to 7,812,961 - not including the weekdays of last week. But they now report 7,477,850. BOM and UK are similar here.

Australia did finally show up on BOM, but no details of the weeks or weekends.

Sound of Freedom International Box Office.

I think I need to start a new table for this. Data is hard to come by, is not transparent, and seems to fluctuate a bunch. I will need to use Box Office Mojo for source data, and work from there. If other data becomes available, I will try to reconcile that.

Legend:
Each nation's entry is comprised of 2 lines.
In the first Identifier places, the order is by the stated Release Date. Next is the Country Abbreviation.
In the line below that, the Maximum number of theaters I could find for a film in that country. Then the day which they start their weekend, according to their Box Office Results. This is either Thursday or Friday.
The remainder of the columns have weekday figures in the top line, and weekend figures in the 2nd line, plus the subtotals.
The column labeled Date Range has the range of dates for those figures.
Next column is Box Office for those dates.
Next is the Rank of that Box Office figure.
Next is Theater Count.
Next is $ per Theater Average.
Next is the Rank of the $ per Theater figure.
Next is the Total, for weekdays only.
Next is the 7 Day Totals, which is both lines added together.
Next is the Rank of that 7 Day Total Box Office (when available, or calculated).
Next is the Cumulative Total for that Country.

Then are selected figures from the Prior week, to reference for comparison.

Data is culled from Box Office Mojo. Countries with Asterisks are using data from The Numbers - mostly because that data is not available on BOM.

Fields highlighted green are values greater than the prior week. Box Office, rank, theater count, $ per theater, rank, weekly total or subtotal.
Figures highlighted red are intended to be placeholders for fields which are waiting for updated or current data.

Oh, hey...

I forgot to thank you for the little trick when making tables here. That was really smart using black zeros to make spaces since this website ignores space inputs after the first one.

Did you see my two tables in the Hollywood thread? There's some really interesting info on the industry as a whole in 2023 I've collected there.

2. Sound of Freedom - 1,455% (+0%)
3. Talk to Me - 1,400% (+0)
4. Super Mario Bros - 1,360% [FINAL]
5. Insidious: The Red Door - 1,163% [FINAL]

SoF needs 54% to beat M3GAN. (About $8 Million)
SoF is 55% above Talk To Me.
SoF is 95% above Super Mario Bros.

That's right. Zero change from Monday.

SoF needs $700k for a bump.

Talk To Me needs $106k for a bump which it either got on Monday or Tuesday. We still don't know because there's been no updates for that since Sunday. It only got $98k on Friday though, so it might not have made what it needed to until Tuesday night.

With those two being the only ones still making any money, and no likely contenders that I've heard about coming out for the rest of the year, this race got a lot less exciting outside of any international updates.

I'm fairly sure that Super Mario Bros. was retired from theaters on Friday. It didn't have any numbers on Bruce's theater counts update on Thursday and it hasn't had any new numbers added since September 7th.

Well... There may be one more.

That Taylor Swift Eras Tour movie is coming out on October 13th, and people think it's going to make over $200 Million.

I don't see any production budget number thrown around by anybody out there right now. Who knows how much or how little they're going to claim it cost to make that? It's not as if it's a scripted thing that has any special effects or even acting involved. And it's not as if they had to put on a bunch of concerts to make the movie, since it was just filmed footage of a tour that grossed over a Billion dollars this year (if ou don't include the insane prices people paid for scalped tickets).

One thing to keep in mind though is that Taylor Swift is considered an actress since she was in CATS, and she is a member of the guild. She was only able to release this during the writers/actors strike is because she agreed to an interim SAG-AFTRA contract: https://www.sagaftrastrike.org/_files/ugd/c68f5e_5b698b94503c47008b3e9

Quote:

What is an Interim Agreement?
An Interim Agreement is a strategic tool that includes all terms and conditions for producers looking to employ our members on their specific independent
productions. Interim agreements offer rigorously vetted independent productions the ability to sign an agreement that consists of the terms of our last offer to the AMPTP before we went on strike.

I don't know, nor do I care what any of their terms were before they went on strike, but it stands to reason that everybody involved in the creation of this "movie" was paid quite a bit more, from cinematography to the cutting room. But I have a feeling this has more to do with residuals that everyone involved would get for streaming after it's out of the theaters and that might not be taken into account when providing a production budget number.

I can't even begin to imagine what something like this actually costs to make, but it they were to come out and claim the production budget was only $15 Million or less, that could put it at or close to the top of the list for the year.

I know I just said that we can't treat movies like Sound of Freedom or Barbie different because we know more about their marketing budgets than all the other movies in fear of breaking the Rule of Thumb, but this "movie" might have to be more highly scrutinized than others, since first and foremost it's not really a movie at all, and if she's agreed to an entirely different way of paying everyone that relies heavily on paying people involved for streaming residuals after-the-fact when none of the other movies on the list this year have those concerns, this could be the beginning of a much higher Rule of Thumb if the guilds end up getting what they want going forward before the strike is over.

'Sound of Freedom' Star Jim Caviezel Compares Donald Trump to King David

by Shannon Power, 9/14/23 at 6:14 AM EDT

Actor Jim Caveziel thinks former President Donald Trump is a lot like the biblical figure, King David.

The star appeared on Steve Bannon's War Room podcast where he talked about Trump watching his film Sound of Freedom, in which he plays Tim Ballard, a former Homeland Security officer who started a non-profit aimed at ending child trafficking.

Sound of Freedom has faced accusations of being QAnon adjacent, but despite its controversies, has become the 10th highest grossing film in the U.S. so far this year.

During the podcast, Caviezel recalled how he described the film to the former president and asked him to watch it.

He told Trump: "When you watch this movie, you will be at peace and at rest because you more than anyone have done incredible things."

Caveziel continued by bringing up religion and said Trump was "private about his faith" but was "getting it done for our Lord and savior."

"When you go back to David, Trump is like that. Here's a boy that was called out and many people didn't like him including his own — I'm talking about David now — own father. And he was selected by God," he said.

"I believe Donald Trump was selected by God almighty... he probably didn't think he was the best guy [to be president] or maybe he thought he was the best guy, because, in my opinion, he's pretty great.

"A guy like him will be able to sit there and watch this [Sound of Freedom] and feel safe and peace, and I think that a lot of people that watch this that are following God, feel that way."

David is featured in the Christian Bible as a shepherd and harpist who went on to defeat Goliath in a battle and become a prophet of God. Some parts of the Bible also say Jesus is a direct descendant of King David.

In the Hebrew Bible, David is considered the third king of Israel and wrote the Book of Psalms. He also features in the Quran as a prophet of Allah.

Trump hosted a Sound of Freedom screening at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, in July where Caviezel was in attendance.

"Thank you all so much, that was incredible," Trump said to the crowd at the screening following the film's ending.

"Jim, that was unbelievable," Trump added after turning to Caviezel.

"It's something that I'm not sure if you're supposed to enjoy or learn, it's a combination, but that was a great movie. Now I understand why it's doing so well.

"It's setting records by the way, it's eating the biggest movies out there, they have some of the big summer blockbusters and this is knocking the socks off of them. So that's pretty good.

Trump concluded: "I hope everybody had a fantastic time, I did, It's an incredible inspiration. You guys do something very special."

Avatar 2 doesn't count because it was from 2022.

It's also supported STRONGLY by the Latino community, both inside and outside of America.

With blacks in major Democrat ran shitholes protesting and holding signs that say Build The Wall, and Latinos getting to see that Democrats are all pedophiles and child groomers, I'd be a little bit more worried about the election if I were you.

Do you have thoughts on what the ratio will be for Sound of Freedom?

Yeah... I was actually keeping track of it for all the US films in the top 80+ to make my 4th list that guesstimated when the film broke even with the 2.0x RoT.

Even though I'm not doing that anymore with my new tables here, I just realized last night that Bruce already does this. Check out the last column on the international 2023 table here:

https://www.the-numbers.com/box-office-records/worldwide/all-movies/cu
mulative/released-in-2023

Currently, SoF's Domestic share is 86.92%.

Well... I'm not quite sure how things are going to look Internationally when it's done. I still don't know what countries it will be releasing in that it hasn't already besides Brazil and Spain, and it appears it's getting new countries all the time.

Also, I didn't know that those 17 Latino countries it released in alongside of Mexico were all 2 weeks ago instead of only 1 week, so that would lower their future take from what I initially thought they would get.

I think the US Box Office is just about done, with it getting $45k on Monday and only $52k on Cheap Seat Tuesday. Likely less than a Million from the US going forward before it's pulled out of theaters. If it's lucky, it will get $185 Million in the US before it's gone, but I kind of doubt that.

I believe that the floor for this movie Worldwide is $230 Million now, with $250 Million possible though unlikely.

At $185 Million domestic rounding up and $230 Worldwide, that's 80.4% Domestic / 19.6% International.

If it manages $250 Million worldwide, that's 74% Domestic / 26% International.

Quote:

I know man. You should see Reddit. Before the Latino numbers came in, the Democratic pedophiles were celebrating its lack of box office in South Africa, Australia/NZ and Europe and laughed at people who thought this movie would ever even break $200 Million.

I may alter my predictions on that $230 - $250 Million range after this weekends numbers come in. I don't know what kind of staying power it has in any of these countries since the information we've gotten has been so sporadic and I tend to just consider a 50% drop across the board week to week on movies until proven otherwise.

I made the mistake of giving a hard 55% drop to Blue Beetle this week and I'm being proven wrong there. It looks as though it's only dropping in the mid 30% range for the week, both here and in the same countries where SoF is doing strong except Mexico where it looks like it doesn't have nearly as strong of a hold as places like Brazil.

I think Brazil has potential to put up some huge numbers that I haven't taken into consideration yet too. If a piece of shit movie like Blue Beetle can do $7 Million in Brazil in 3 weeks when it only got $5.9 Million so far in Mexico, I'd imagine that Sound of Freedom might be in for another $10 to $15 Million in Brazil alone.

I mean, seriously... How has Blue Beetle made almost 11% of what it made in the US Box office in Brazil?

If SoF does 11% of the US Box Office in Brazil, that's another $20 Million right there and we get to $230 Million without a single dollar counted from any of the other countries it is currently playing and will be playing.

Who knows? If that comes to pass, SoF might make $275 Million worldwide. The split would be about 67% Domestic / 33% International if that happens.

SoF needs 54% to beat M3GAN. (About $8 Million)
SoF is 55% above Talk To Me.
SoF is 95% above Super Mario Bros.

I wasn't able to do a daily update on Wednesday since there wasn't any new information. That hasn't changed today. No new Domestic numbers for SoF since Tuesday, and none for Talk To Me since Sunday.

SoF needs almost exactly $700k for another bump, and Talk To Me appears only to need $53k for the next bump.

There's zero chance SoF got that here in the states. Talk To Me got its bump on Monday for sure now.

Both are going to be relying almost solely on International numbers going forward.

And speaking of international, either BOM is wrong or Bruce is way behind. According to BOM, Talk To Me has already done $21,936,460.

https://www.boxofficemojo.com/title/tt10638522/?ref_=bo_se_r_1

Bruce only has $17,465,112 recorded internationally so far for Talk To Me.

So according to BOM, Talk To Me has already done $67,937,993 worldwide (not including Monday-Thursday Domestic), which would put it at 1,511% and in first place above M3GAN.

That's the bad news for SoF. The good news is that if you look at the weekly breakdowns for Talk To Me, the money coming in this late in its run is next to nothing. Countries such as France, Spain and Russia did middling double-digits last weekend. It's got a better hold in Mexico with $386k last weekend, but that was a 60% drop from the weekend before. It also has a better hold in the UK with $151k, but these numbers are far lower than the millions it was generating.

So because Bruce appears to be about $4.5 Million behind on them, expect some big bumps internationally still making their way to The-Numbers.com for Talk To Me, but know that they're mostly all old numbers. It probably does less than half a million in new numbers internationally this weekend according to what I'm seeing at BOM.

These aren't official since I don't make official updates until Bruce puts stuff on the-numbers, but this is likely where the top list is at right now.

*NOTE: I don't give Talk To Me an extra bump that I said it got on Monday because now with these new international numbers that BOM shows, it wouldn't have made the $500k + it needed for the next rounding bump. Also, SoF doesn't get a bump because there was no way any money it made on Wednesday/Thursday in the states helped it at all either.

In the case below, SoF still needs around $600k for a bump, and Talk To Me needs something really small like $40 or $50k for its next bump.

Thursday's (theoretical) Numbers:

1. Talk to Me - 1,511% (+111%)
2. M3GAN - 1,508% [FINAL]
3. Sound of Freedom - 1,455% (+0%)
4. Super Mario Bros - 1,360% [FINAL]
5. Insidious: The Red Door - 1,163% [FINAL]

SoF needs 57% to beat Talk To Me (About $9 Million)
SoF needs 54% to beat M3GAN. (About $8 Million)
SoF is 95% above Super Mario Bros.

Talk To Me finally gets its Monday through Thursday Domestic updates, and it's less than I thought it would be. Cheap seat Tuesday was the high with $115,844 and Thursday was the low with $81,096. Tuesday was the only day it made 6 figures.

Still no Domestic updates since Tuesday for SoF, but it doesn't matter because it's $700k from a bump and it wouldn't even get that Domestic by EOD Sunday.

Talk To Me now needs almost exactly $500k for the next bump.

As I stated this morning, Bruce is behind BOM almost $4.5 Million on the International numbers. If those numbers happen to come in this weekend, that's about another $5 Million rounding up. Depending on how it does here this weekend as well as internationally, we could be rounding up probably as high as $6 Million. I don't think it will be higher than that though, since I doubt very much it is going to make another nearly $2 Million in total Domestic this weekend and International for the last week it would need beyond that to get to $7 Million with that $4.5 Million finally counted.

So that would leave Talk To Me at 1,533% to 1,556% after Bruce reconciles international numbers if he adds everything extra that Box Office Mojo has on file too.

In that case, Sound of Freedom would need another $13 Million to $16 Million to pull ahead again.

As I stated before, $230 Million is the floor for SoF worldwide now by the time it's out of the international box office, which is another $19 Million. And though it never really picked up any traction in Europe and Australia in the first place, it's still got gas in the tank in Latin America. And there's a good possibility it grosses another $10 to $20 Million in Brazil alone once it is released there.

My guess is that Talk To Me will pull ahead for a week or two this weekend but SoF will ultimately end up on top for 2023 since both Domestic and International numbers for that movie seem to be slowing down to a crawl now. I also predict that both of them are going to pull away pretty hard once all the international numbers are figured for and be the only two movies in 2023 that gross more than 1,600% of their Production Budgets. (Assuming the Taylor Swift "movie" that I'm probably going to disqualify anyhow if they try to claim some ridiculously low-ball production budget doesn't also hit 1,600%).

No Friday projections for SoF or TTM.

SoF needs $700,072 for a bump.

TTM needs $496,600 for a bump.

Some (very small amount of) additional international money must have come in at the-numbers because Bruce is now $4,288,922 short worldwide of what BOM is showing, and they're both up-to-date on Domestic numbers through Thursday.

My guess is about $175k for SoF and $475k for TTM domestic this weekend.

That is assuming that either or both of them haven't been bumped from theaters, of course, since Bruce's weekly theater count article doesn't mention either of them. But with SoF still showing in 730 theaters and TTM still showing in 930 theaters on Thursday night, I find it hard to believe that they're both done in the US just yet.

Neither of them would get a bump this weekend from those Domestic figures alone.

If Bruce updates the TTM figures to match BOM's on Sunday/Monday, that would be $4,763,922 additional for TTM without considering any new International Box Office numbers from last week's update. That would be $68,767,322, or 5 percentage bumps, and would leave TTM $732,678 shy of the next bump.

SoF would get the $175k from the Domestic weekend, getting zero bumps and still being shy of $525,072 shy of a bump.

So this is where we'd be before new international numbers came in:

2. Talk to Me - 1,533% (+133)
3. Sound of Freedom - 1,455% (+0%)

I would further give TTM at least the $732,678 it needed for the next bump from new international numbers for this weekend, but not enough to make the $1,732,678 it would need for 2 more bumps, putting it at 1,556%.

And here's some math I did to try to at least have a somewhat educated guestimate for SoF international numbers this weekend:

16 Latin America Countries on BOM 9/16
$1,787,330
$363,139
$841,028
$2,507,576
$798,494
$1,180,678
$175,420
$448,075
$350,729
$7,477,850
$126,017
$570,500
$112,239
$1,723,859
$217,320
$217,754

TOTAL: $18,898,008

Opening Weekend Columbia: $1,098,931 of $2,507,576 (44%)

Opening Weekend Mexico: $3,486,358 of $7,477,850 (47%)

We're going to call those total gross numbers Opening weekend plus 54% for the following 7 days.

So the Opening weekend of all 16 countries was probably somewhere in the area of $8,693,084, with the following 7 days grossing $10,204,924.

Assuming 40% drops week to week, there should be an additional $6,122,954 coming in for those 16 countries for the last 7 days once Bruce updates numbers. (It will be more if it maintains a 70% hold, but I'm just being safe here with the limited data available).

I don't even know how many Eurpoean, Middle East and Africa countries it's even still playing in since it didn't really do very well in those regions. I'm just going to add $250k to the intenrational figure for them and call it a day.

Ditto for Australia and New Zealand. I'm giving that an additional $200k.

With this guess, we add $6,572,954 to SoF's international total this weekend, which would be $216,922,882 total, or 6 bumps and $577,118 shy of the next bump. This would put SoF at 1,496% when Bruce updates the international numbers on Sunday/Monday.

Here's what my guess would look like, depending on a lot of X factors coming through, most importantly Bruce actually updating TTM's numbers to what BOM is currently showing....

Saturday/Sunday's (theoretical) Numbers (post-international update):

1. Talk to Me - 1,556% (+156%)
2. M3GAN - 1,508% [FINAL]
3. Sound of Freedom - 1,496% (+41%)
4. Super Mario Bros - 1,360% [FINAL]
5. Insidious: The Red Door - 1,163% [FINAL]

SoF needs 61% to beat Talk To Me (About $9 Million)
SoF needs 12% to beat M3GAN. (About $2 Million)

Things to keep in mind...

1. TTM has been in most international markets much longer than SoF and has really slowed to a crawl in most of them.

2. TTM has still yet to release in South Africa (9/15) or Japan (12/22). I don't know how how well either of these will play, but Japan loves them some horror movies. But by 12/12 I would imagine that they'd already been able to see it on streaming and the only people going to the theaters would be those who waited to see it on the big screen or those who loved it enough to pay to see it in theaters after they already watched it at home.

3. SoF still has to release in Russia and Brazil. I don't expect more than a few million max from Russia, but I've said before I expect $10 to $20 Million from Brazil.

4. SoF still has gas in the tank in Latin America, and even though I've heard it released in 18 Latin American countries, only 16 of those have been reported so far. If 40% drops are correct, it will get another $3,943,772 in Latin America over the following 7 days and a further $2,366,263 the week after that. There's possibly around another $10 to $12 Million in Latin America.

5. In my estimates, there's maybe $25 Million or more still coming for Sound of Freedom AFTER this weekend is reconciled, which could bring it as high as 1,614% / 1,621%. This would be just about $235 Million. That's what I'd consider my low-end prediction worldwide at this point.

BOM added Serbia today (Sat morn).
NZ subtracted 12.5K on Friday.
Still no figures for Belize or Dominican Republic, although reported to be #1 in both countries.

I also noticed Colombia dropped 20% from 1st to 2nd weekend.

I didn't even realize that SoF was banned from being played in theaters on U.S. Military Bases.

Producer states it is a $14M film. But, of course, how would HE know anything?

This, believe it or not, may have been the article that I saw way back when I put $14 Million as the budget.

I don't think so.
MI wasn't released until 12 Jul, and took days more to hit $85M.

You posted $14M on July 9.

Buckle in. That's going to happen a lot from here on out without Domestic numbers coming in that are large enough to keep you from noticing it. The good news is it won't be $3-4 Million up and down like SMB, but the bad news is that TTM's ups and downs are going to be even less.

Yeah. Those must be the two Latin American countries I mentioned still haven't shown up out of the "18".

Quote:

That's weekend to weekend (which, oddly, BOM considers Thursday through Sunday), which means it grossed $523,619 Mon-Wed its first week. A 19.5% drop could mean better numbers than I predicted since I went the safe route and figured in a 40% drop week to week for all 18 Latin American countries.

https://www.boxofficemojo.com/release/rl3869803265/weekend/

In Mexico, it actually went up 10.1% from 1st weekend to 2nd weekend (only 3 day weekends for Mexico on BOM). But that would mean it only grossed $154,674 on its first Mon-Thurs, which doesn't make much sense at all.

https://www.boxofficemojo.com/release/rl229344001/weekend/

I'm not sure how much we can rely on the accuracy of these types of numbers.

That makes sense. We've got trannies running things in the military in current year.

Guess not then. It's hard to say. Most media on both sides of the aisle just copy and paste what other outfits say. That's why everybody gets everything so wrong these days since they're all in a big goddamned rush to be the first outfit to put something out before everybody else copies and pastes it.

I want to see an interview with the dude and have him saying flat out the budget was $14 Million. None of the articles I've seen (including that one and the 3 that I linked) even gave a direct quote from him that it was only $14 Million. They all said something like he said it was "around $14 Million".

But like I said before, I don't think it matters. I'm pretty sure that SoF is going to end up with well over 1,600% of the Production Budget in the end and take first place for the year. But if it actually WAS only $14 Million, I would like to know that because I'm striving to be as accurate as possible with my lists.

In related news, I've been hearing that the Taylor Swift tour documentary thing had a production budget of $10 to $20 Million. But I believe that this wouldn't put into account the stupid residuals in the future that they'd be paying out, having had to agree to the SAG interim contract to be able to release it. I'll be recording the results of that "movie" but it might remain separate from all the other movies since it is operating under different rules than everything else was.

TTM's projections for this weekend are $567,472 (a 35% drop), which was enough for a bump sooner than I expected. So at least we know that TTM is still in Domestic theaters, having lost 350 on Friday with 570 remaining.

Still no word on Sound of Freedom on money or theater counts.

Quote:

If Bruce updates the TTM figures to match BOM's on Sunday/Monday, that would be $4,763,922 additional for TTM without considering any new International Box Office numbers from last week's update. That would be $68,767,322, or 5 percentage bumps, and would leave TTM $732,678 shy of the next bump.

The bump it got early won't have much effect on anything beyond an early bump. If everything else I predicted is accurate, it gets the same amount of bumps, but it just needs $88k less for the next bump.

Quote:

I would further give TTM at least the $732,678 it needed for the next bump from new international numbers for this weekend, but not enough to make the $1,732,678 it would need for 2 more bumps, putting it at 1,556%.

And I still don't think it would get the $1,640,206 NEW international money it would need for 2 bumps, so this extra $88k it got beyond my weekend Domestic prediction probably doesn't amount to much in the end.

Still no new numbers for SoF since Tuesday night.

Hopefully Bruce reconciles that $4.X international for Talk To Me soon and updates SoF's internationals today too.

In case you want to make comparisons when that happens, JSF, I just archived the international page for each movie.

It appears that SoF was going to be released online on the 15th, but that has been postponed to "Coming Soon".

https://www.geo.tv/latest/510272-sound-of-freedom-faces-online-release
-delay

But just like the Blue Beetle online release date, I'm not seeing any mainstream articles about this, so take it with a grain of salt.

It's a good move by Angel Studios if they did that though. I'm sure it will get an online release, but no reason to do it before it has at least a few weeks in Brazil first. With $10 to $20 million incoming from Brazil, why would anybody risk losing that profit by releasing it online ahead of time unless they were Warner Bros who always seems to make poor financial decisions.

I'd expect an online release for SoF sometime in mid to late October.

Before Spain, France, Germany?
Do folk think there is no interwebs in those countries?

BTW, I have almost gotten my tables built the way I wanted, including the highlights.
I invite you to peruse them.
I know you consider the highlighted info inconsequential, but I think it helps show trends.

Lithuania has increased Box Office every single weekend. But their weekday Box Office seems goofy.
Up til Australia, every country had an increase of some form over a prior week. Just like Domestic.

I plan to update later.

Also, as I stated before, none of Mexico's figures add up, so there is not much detail to cull from what I've seem there.
Colombia had a small drop, and Mexico is gibberish, so wondering if other Latino countries will have similar results.

I don't think it really matters. Europe hasn't done shit for SoF. Spaniards from Spain have about as much in common with people from Central and South America as Samuel L. Jackson has in common with some 80 year old African lady with a foot long neck living in a mud hut and communicating in tongue clicks. Those box offices are going to be small.

Yeah... Not a huge fan of how international numbers are kept. BOM gives you the illusion that you can look more in-depth on them, but most countries you can't and even the ones that you can have nonsense numbers half the time.

I like how you're keeping the week to week up to date when nobody else bothers. Ultimately, I only update my own numbers after Bruce does, but his international tab sucks, showing only opening weekend and then everything else. And BOM makes you go through the hassle of looking at every country's page individually for the breakdowns, and then only shows you the weekends (which sometimes are 3 days and other times are 4 days).

Brazil is the big X Factor here.

Like I said before, I think that Russia will do some decent business in the area of $2 to $3 Million, but I don't expect much out of Germany, France or Spain.

I'm super annoyed right now at the state of box office reporting this week(end).

We still haven't gotten an update on Sound of Freedom since Tuesday.

Talk To Me's Domestic weekend is the only movie on the list that is still projections and not actual numbers, and it's after 7PM on Monday.

Though TTM got a couple of bucks internationally on the-numbers.com, it's obvious it didn't get the weekend update and Bruce hasn't yet reconciled his internationals with whatever BOM has been reporting.

... Maybe tomorrow.

Saturday/Sunday's Numbers (Pre-International):

1. M3GAN - 1,508% [FINAL]
2. Sound of Freedom - 1,455% (+0%)
3. Talk to Me - 1,444% (+22)
4. Super Mario Bros - 1,360% [FINAL]
5. Insidious: The Red Door - 1,163% [FINAL]

SoF needs 54% to beat M3GAN. (About $8 Million)
SoF is 11% above Talk To Me.

I already mentioned that The Numbers also has the same way of getting data as BOM. The weekend BO, the weeklong BO from Accumulated totals, and subtracting for weekday data.
The biggest difference seems to be that Bruce does not specify when the weekends start, or how he treats the figures he gets. Maybe he treats all data as a 3-day weekend, regardless if the country does 4 day weekends (BOM specifies) - and this may, in fact be the source of discrepancy between the reported figures, with Bruce just reporting them differently.
BOM seems at least up front about what they are trying to report, while Bruce remains a mystery.

I've been suspecting that Angel Studios has been overwhelmed with Box Office wrangling coming out their ears. They have been reporting less frequently or consistently since international release dates have come about. They are a small outfit, and have never had a hit of this magnitude. There are worse problems to have.

TTM is from UK, and they have never updated Friday through Thurs until the next Thurs/Fri. Their green projection numbers stay that way until then. Every week. I expect their update on Thurs or Fri.

New data today:
Bruce updated NZ and Aus. These new increases were subtracted from "Rest of the world" but the total remained the same, since I think 12 Sept.

BOM did not update any brand new Box Office, but did add detail to the Serbia info, the weekend data from the 2nd weekend - which was not there yesterday.
I plan to add this data on my next update.
I gotta remember to use different abbreviations for Slovakia and Slovenia.

I cannot find any data, anywhere, for Belize or Dominican Republic - for any film.

Maybe. But now they're a full week behind on reporting Domestic numbers and even further behind on Internationals. At this point, a full 5 days after the new Box Office Week started, we still don't even know what the theater counts for SoF is stateside, if any.

No. They don't. There's been little rhyme or reason to how Talk To Me's numbers have been reported since the beginning, sometimes not updating for at least as long as we've waited for an update from SoF right now. But any "pattern" that you think you've witnessed is just imagined here.

What I want to know is why Bruce isn't still reporting the extra $4.1 to $4.2 Million that BOM has for Talk To Me internationally yet. Let's go Bruce.

Today BOM updated with figures from the weekend for NZ, Croatia, Colombia.

Colo seems to have dropped 25%. The whole week about as low as UK opening weekend.

All 3 seem to be holding their theater counts now.

I'm not at all impressed with the record keeping across the board this week.

I can't even get legitimate numbers for Blue Beetle, which isn't in any race except for which DC flick is the biggest loser of all time.

BOM is showing over $22M Internationally now for Talk To Me. Bruce is still showing less than $18M. The gap has widened on that discrepency by $400k since yesterday.

Going after Russell Brand with bogus rape allegations isn't enough. Now they're going after Tim Ballard too.

Fuck child rapist Democrats. Fuck the lying legacy media.

Just ignore these sick motherfuckers. That's all they deserve in 2023 and going forward.

No more daily updates I guess. If Bruce, BOM, A24 and Angel Studios don't give a shit anymore, I don't see why I should.

Lame.

And Russia was so small I didn't even notice it until you pointed it out. Bruce already had that money in the "Rest of World" category, so it wasn't even new money. Rest of World is now $13,894,985, down from $14,511,827 when I took the archive. The rest of that went to the UK update from $1,736,374 to $2,215,947. World total remains the same.

Out of Spain, Germany and Russia, I thought that Russia would be the biggest potential market. That might still be true. I posted earlier that I didn't think those three would do shit for SoF.

I failed to point out that, While Russia was there for most of today, Rest of the world figure remained the same as it was since 18 Sep, and Total figure remained the same as since 13 Sep.
UK only updated after my post.

Yeah. You usually know more about international details than I do, but I just happen to currently have the archive tabs for both SoF and TTM up along side the realtime tabs to compare to right now, and since nothing is going on it's easy to spot.

I don't know why reporting has been so weird for the last week. It's not just these two movies either. I'm sure Blue Beetle has at least $2 Million more than Bruce is showing at this point, and the combined total of Disney movies added $28 Million out of the blue internationally on all the movies that aren't even in theaters anymore.

Though not nearly as severe as the difference between the-numbers and BOM as Talk To Me is right now, the international number for SoF is now $28,709,212 at BOM and remains only at $27,565,724 at the-numbers. That's an additional $1,143,488, as opposed to the additional $4.3 Million or so at BOM for Talk To Me.

BOM doesn't give us a whole lot to work with, but they did release Sep 14-17 numbers for Columbia, which was $611,764, or only a 30.9% drop after the previous weekend's 19.5% drop. It's probably well over $10 Million in Mexico at this point. Maybe in the area of $12-$13 Million.

It released in Brazil today.

Maybe Angel Studios has been holding back all the numbers for almost 2 weeks now to blitz them all after Brazil's opening weekend?

SoF and TTM don't make Bruce's list of theater counts this weekend, but they didn't last weekend either and we know TTM was still in theaters for sure. I doubt that they're out of theaters when Elemental and Theater Camp still have screens for another week. It's not as if any of the few movies that are making any money this time of year are packing their theaters and are in need of additional screens. Even Barbie still has 2,634 theaters this week, which would not be justifiable with the numbers it's pulling in now if this were 2 months ago.
