The-Numbers international update carried over from last page:

Bruce took more money out of the international kitty where it shouldn't have come from.

It was $9,783,953 yesterday, and now it's $9,739,756, for a difference of $44,197.

International Total still remains unchanged at $27,565,724.

...

Looks like it's Croatia. $246,808 now, when it was $202,611 yesterday.

Russia had the $120,677 added on Wednesday, which also came out of the Rest of World.

Those two changes combined were the only ones since I made the last archive on the 26th, and they both add up to the $9,904,630 shown for Rest of World then.

New archive on the 29th: https://archive.ph/Gt4pu

BOM Update:

The International Total at BOM raised to $34,040,139 today. This is $119,678 more than yesterday's $33,920,461.

It is unclear where that money went without clicking on every individual country link since nothing on their main international page has changed since yesterday. And unless one country got the full $119,678 that would jump right out at me, I probably wouldn't even be able to tell where it was allocated. Maybe JSF can figure that out since he seems to be following them on an individual level far more than I have.

New BOM Archive for 9/29: https://archive.ph/QhsUC

The international difference for BOM and The-Numbers is now $34,040,139 to $27,565,724, or $6,474,415.

I posted this just last night:

But they're way behind on reporting too. Even worse than SoF in some cases. Or... It's possible they're just not playing in some of these countries anymore too. There hasn't been an update for Mexico since the $386,523 it made the weekend of Sep 8-10. That could mean it's gone after 5 weeks, but that seems like a pretty decent amount to make to just yank it. No update in the UK since Aug 18-20th, but it only made $151,116 that weekend.

I dunno man... It's played for 9 weeks in the UAE that have been reported and it only made $1k on the 8th weekend and $3k on the 9th weekend.

No updates since Sunday Domestically, as per usual. With how little it lost the last week, it probably lost less than 25% every day so far, so it's probably got at least $625k more here in the states by Sunday.

I think I did some predictions on this a little while ago. It's hard to keep track of everything. I'm not going to do it again since it's such a PITA. I'm pretty sure I figured it would hit 1,600% before it was over though.

Yeah... just doing a search for 1,600% on page 7 of this thread, you can see where I said several times 1,600% for SoF, and also making the claim I believed they'd be the only two movies to hit that bar in 2023. I'm sure somewhere there is a detailed breakdown of my prediction, but I haven't bothered looking for that yet.

BOM just gave TTM a huge update today.

It's up to $72,398,360 Worldwide now, which is 1,600% of its Production Budget and only $102k away from rounding up to 1,622%.

It appears that I screwed up and haven't made a BOM archive for TTM since the 22nd. The last notes I have on where it was at was this from the 26rd:

Quote:

TTM BOM International: $22,365,361 (+$44,071 since Thursday)

That +$44,071 at the time of writing that post was +$44,071 from the last archive I took on the 22nd here: https://archive.ph/2apx7

New BOM TTM Archive for the 29th here: https://archive.ph/JyaXw

The International Total is now $24,608,601.

Domestic Total is $47,789,759, is up to date through Thursday and matches The-Numbers Perfectly.

So yeah... Even BOM was pretty far behind on international reporting for Talk To Me, as I've warned it probably was. Hopefully this massive update to the total brings us up to date on that front. That would be a good scenario for SoF because I believe that TTM's international run is just about over (and I've stated in the past my predicted cap for TTM was 1,622%, so hopefully I wasn't wrong and it doesn't still make the $1.1 Million or so it would need for another one).

I'm sure SoF has another $6+ Million in it, assuming my beliefs on where it ACTUALLY stands right now if they ever got around to properly updating the numbers. But I'm not sure if it would make enough to offset 1 or 2 more bumps for TTM beyond 1,622%. I think it will make more than 1,644% even, but I don't think the chances SoF breaks 1,666% is very high.

So here's my new theoretical* chart going into the weekend.

Thursday's (Theoretical) Numbers:

1. Talk to Me - 1,600% ()
2. Sound of Freedom - 1,566% ()
3. M3GAN - 1,508% [FINAL]
4. Super Mario Bros - 1,360% [FINAL]
5. Insidious: The Red Door - 1,163% [FINAL]

SoF needs 35% to beat Talk to Me. (About $6 Million)

*NOTE: SoF is theoretical, while the above is what BOM is currently showing for TTM.

SoF's ACTUAL at The-Numbers remains 1,455%, where it's been for weeks. The theoretical 1,566% above reflects the $6,474,415 BOM shows that Bruce doesn't, my estimates for all the missing Domestic money through last Sunday, and the missing international money for unreported and under-reported countries up through last Sunday as theorized in my post from late Thursday night, and does not include any estimates between Monday and Thursday of this week.

Updating:

Sound of Freedom International Box Office.

I think I need to start a new table for this. Data is hard to come by, is not transparent, and seems to fluctuate a bunch. I will need to use Box Office Mojo for source data, and work from there. If other data becomes available, I will try to reconcile that.

Legend:
Each nation's entry is comprised of 2 lines.
In the first Identifier places, the order is by the stated Release Date. Next is the Country Abbreviation.
In the line below that, the Maximum number of theaters I could find for a film in that country. Then the day which they start their weekend, according to their Box Office Results. This is either Thursday or Friday.
The remainder of the columns have weekday figures in the top line, and weekend figures in the 2nd line, plus the subtotals.
The column labeled Date Range has the range of dates for those figures.
Next column is Box Office for those dates.
Next is the Rank of that Box Office figure.
Next is Theater Count.
Next is $ per Theater Average.
Next is the Rank of the $ per Theater figure.
Next is the Total, for weekdays only.
Next is the 7 Day Totals, which is both lines added together.
Next is the Rank of that 7 Day Total Box Office (when available, or calculated).
Next is the Cumulative Total for that Country.

Then are selected figures from the Prior week, to reference for comparison.

Data is culled from Box Office Mojo. Countries with Asterisks are using data from The Numbers - mostly because that data is not available on BOM.

Fields highlighted green are values greater than the prior week. Box Office, rank, theater count, $ per theater, rank, weekly total or subtotal.
Figures highlighted red are intended to be placeholders for fields which are waiting for updated or current data.

But just like the Blue Beetle online release date, I'm not seeing any mainstream articles about this, so take it with a grain of salt.

It's a good move by Angel Studios if they did that though. I'm sure it will get an online release, but no reason to do it before it has at least a few weeks in Brazil first. With $10 to $20 million incoming from Brazil, why would anybody risk losing that profit by releasing it online ahead of time unless they were Warner Bros who always seems to make poor financial decisions.

Quote:

I'd expect an online release for SoF sometime in mid to late October.

???
Before Spain, France, Germany?

I guess. I didn't even know it was getting released there. It's not up on the-numbers or BOM.

Quote:

Do folk think there is no interwebs in those countries?

I don't think it really matters. Europe hasn't done shit for SoF. Spaniards from Spain have about as much in common with people from Central and South America as Samuel L. Jackson has in common with some 80 year old African lady with a foot long neck living in a mud hut and communicating in tongue clicks. Those box offices are going to be small.

The jury is still out on Spain, but Angel Studios must have agreed with my thoughts on the issue.

Per Variety, Angel Studios will have an "Exclusive Viewing Window" for the film on October 13th via the Angel Studios app (whatever that means).

And it's getting a digital purchase release date of November 3rd. DVDs and BluRays will be available on November 14th.

/

Personally, I'd STRONGLY advise them to cancel that "Exclusive Viewing Window" from their app on October 13th, because if they do that it will be available to download for free worldwide on October 13th. This is another stupid Boomer decision made by people who don't know how the internet works.

One might say "But Jack! Anybody who had the Angel Studios app and saw the movie there is a supporter of the film and the studio and would never think of uploading the movie for people to download for free".

Oh, special, special child...

There will be plenty of people out there who would pay for temporary access to that app just to rip the movie to upload to torrent sites out of spite.

Not Second though. Second never pays for anything.

Well... It appears that Brazil won't be the bump that SOF needed.

A little bit of digging on Brazilian Yahoo and I eventually got confirmation that while SoF did do $5,762,000 in Brazil last weekend, that was actually "R$" (Brazilian Real) and not "$". (The original graph I posted here stated as such in the top of the column "Box Office (R$)", but I either didn't notice it or I thought nothing of it at the time.

R$5,762,000 is only $1,145,500.

My guess worldwide up through last Sunday with all the numbers reconciled was $227,559,747. It's now $4,616,857 less than that, since SoF apparently did worse in Brazil than Blue Beetle did opening weekend, so we're at only $222,942,889, or 1,538%.

So there's not only the $4.6M loss of what I expected in Brazil, but the implied future loss of much smaller week to week box office numbers than what would have been if it actually generated $5.8M opening weekend.

There's almost zero chance now that SoF is coming out on top of Talk To Me now unless info comes out that proves it cost less than $14.5 Million to make.

Oh well. 2nd place isn't bad in 2023, the year of the Indie and Horror Genre.

So, based off of this new info, here's my new theoretical* chart going into the weekend.

Thursday's (Theoretical) Numbers:

1. Talk to Me - 1,600% ()
2. Sound of Freedom - 1,538% ()
3. M3GAN - 1,508% [FINAL]
4. Super Mario Bros - 1,360% [FINAL]
5. Insidious: The Red Door - 1,163% [FINAL]

SoF needs 63% to beat Talk to Me. (About $10 Million)

*NOTE: SoF is theoretical, while the above is what BOM is currently showing for TTM.

SoF's ACTUAL at The-Numbers remains 1,455%, where it's been for weeks. The theoretical 1,538% above reflects the $6,474,415 BOM shows that Bruce doesn't, my estimates for all the missing Domestic money through last Sunday, and the missing international money for unreported and under-reported countries up through last Sunday as theorized in my post from late Thursday night, and does not include any estimates between Monday and Thursday of this week.

ALSO: TTM is only about $100k away from another percentage bump of 22%. SoF would need to make an additional $3 Million to overcome that bump on top of the $10 Million it already needs to make 1st place. And although it's very late-stage box office for Talk To Me, there could easily be another $1 Million or more in uncounted international figures to put it even further out of reach at 1,644% or higher.

Once the two movies are done, of course we'll stop rounding, and with 22% bumps every time TTM gains another $1 Million, that could be a huge subtraction of up to 11%, but really, at 1,622% being a sure thing and the easy possibility of 1,666% being real, I don't see SoF coming out on top here after the Brazil currency conversion discovery.

Not Second though. Second never pays for anything.

Someone already did the work.

The movie was no more expensive to make than episodes of Law & Order - Special Victims Unit. I believe the real Production Budget is much lower than the $14,500,000 reported. What happened to the difference between the real budget and the reported budget? That money was embezzled as to be expected when Trumptards are around. Crooks have got to lie and steal. It is in their DNA and culture. For further examples, see the original Trump for how that happens.

Like when Disney said the 6 episodes of Secret Invasion cost 35.3 Million each to make?

You're the one always talking about Hollywood Accounting when defending Disney trash.

I don't think any Trumptards were involved in producing or marketing that woke turd.

But if you have evidence that Sound of Freedom cost less than $14.5 Million to create I invite you to share it. It doesn't look like it's going to beat Talk To Me in the Production Budget vs. Worldwide Gross unless the budget was less than we think it was.

I have their motive to lie about Sound of Freedom cost. They cheated their thousands of investors because Trumptards, when around a pot of money, can't help but steal some of it by lying about how much the movie cost to make. From the credits:

That was post production money for distribution, dummy.

Those investors were paid 120% of their money back when the movie was a success.

It's a model that Angel Studios is using on all of their productions going forward.

But yeah. Gambling.

I wouldn't invest in something like this. You're basically buying shares in a company, but it's impossible to trade them to somebody else, and if their next production does little business or loses in the end, you're out whatever you put down.

Do some research next time before you open your stupid mouth, retard.

Russia had the $120,677 added on Wednesday, which also came out of the Rest of World.

Looks like Bruce did it again. Big surprise...

"Rest of World" total is now down to $8,964,332 from $9,739,756 , which is a difference of $775,424. International Total remains unchanged.

Australia: $3,160,604 (+$101,742)

Talk To Me just ran away with the whole damn thing. There's zero chance that any movie that comes out for the rest of the year is ever going to catch up with it, let alone Sound of Freedom.

According to BoxOfficeMojo, it now has $39,610,335 International and a Worldwide total of $87,573,268, which is about $15 Million more than it had on the 29th.

I knew there was some international money that was not reported, but I did not see this coming.

Talk To Me's Worldwide Gross vs. Production budget is now 1,956%.

The only way that Sound of Freedom could ever catch up to that is if it grossed $230 Million and it came out that the production budget was only $11.5 Million.

Bruce, as always as of late, is totally behind on all of this.

New Talk To Me archives...

The-Numbers 10/04: https://archive.ph/6RN12
BoxOfficeMojo 10/04: https://archive.ph/cnP9R

Congratulations to the little indie horror flick that only cost $4.5 Million to make.

At this point, I'm done following it until both movies are long gone from the theaters and the final international totals are out. I think they're both far enough ahead of the competition that they should close out 2023 in the 1st and 2nd spot, but this race is officially over.

Well... I know I said I wasn't following it anymore, but I misspoke. I just wasn't going to be doing daily updates anymore since most days there was nothing to update and the $15 Million added to Talk To Me not only gave it the undeniable 1st place finish without any competition but proved that all the speculation in the world about an indie movie's worldwide finish is just a complete waste of time.

But it would appear that there IS something to report today.

The-Numbers finally got a massive update to Sound of Freedom that was a long time coming.

$230,684,308 is the new worldwide total there, up from $210,799,928 last night, for an additional $19,884,380.

Back on September 12th I boldly made the following claim (and even underlined it):

Quote:

Sound of Freedom is now a $230 Million movie. That's the absolute bottom going forward. This will put it up close to 1,600% with the $14.5 Million budget figure. If it somehow manages $240 Million, that would be over 1650%.

So there you go...

Sound of Freedom's Worldwide Box Office vs. Production Budget is now 1,593%, rounding up to $231 Million.

Sound of Freedom / The-Numbers 10/04 Archive: https://archive.ph/Nw8ae

I stopped trying to guess what the Domestic numbers would be after September 24th, but I figured that there was $413,092 unreported by then. It turns out there was actually $607,489 in unreported Domestic money by the 24th, so it performed better in the states than I thought it would. Its run now though is essentially dead here however, since the last two days it made under $10k per day in only 125 theaters nationwide.

My last prediction for Sound of Freedom worldwide was on the 30th of September, where I figured it had at least $227 Million (a downgrade after I realized the Brazilian numbers were quite a bit less than I thought after currency conversion).

The fact that it beat this number by $3.5 or so Million means it might yet have enough play internationally to make the $240 I said that it could. $250 Million is highly unlikely.

Again though, there's no way it's going to come close to Talk to Me now.

Here's the new list (with most International countries reporting between 10/02 and 10/04):

Wednesday's Numbers (10/04):

1. Talk to Me - 1,956%
2. Sound of Freedom - 1,593%
3. M3GAN - 1,508% [FINAL]
4. Super Mario Bros - 1,361% [FINAL]
5. Insidious: The Red Door - 1,163% [FINAL]
6. Barbie - 989%

SoF needs 364% to beat Talk to Me. (About $53 Million --- Never going to happen)

I put Barbie back on the list because it's actually just a fraction away from what it would need to join the 1,000% club. With international reporting being as spotty as it has been of late, it very well could pull that off. I wouldn't even begin trying to make a guess on that one since Bruce has over $268 Million in the "Rest of World" Kitty, and a lot of countries have a "Report Date" all the way back in July and August. That's a total crap shoot.

On September 14th, I was asked this question:

Quote:

Originally posted by JEWELSTAITEFAN:
6ix, You have mentioned the ratio of Domestic Box office vs. International for several films.

Do you have thoughts on what the ratio will be for Sound of Freedom?
Define the details and parameters as you wish.

For guidance, pedophiles and groomers have incessantly railed that Domestic BO for this film WILL NOT translate to International Box Office.

To which I replied:

Quote:

Well... I'm not quite sure how things are going to look Internationally when it's done. I still don't know what countries it will be releasing in that it hasn't already besides Brazil and Spain, and it appears it's getting new countries all the time.

Also, I didn't know that those 17 Latino countries it released in alongside of Mexico were all 2 weeks ago instead of only 1 week, so that would lower their future take from what I initially thought they would get.

I think the US Box Office is just about done, with it getting $45k on Monday and only $52k on Cheap Seat Tuesday. Likely less than a Million from the US going forward before it's pulled out of theaters. If it's lucky, it will get $185 Million in the US before it's gone, but I kind of doubt that.

I believe that the floor for this movie Worldwide is $230 Million now, with $250 Million possible though unlikely.

At $185 Million domestic rounding up and $230 Worldwide, that's 80.4% Domestic / 19.6% International.

If it manages $250 Million worldwide, that's 74% Domestic / 26% International.

Pretty close to accurate so far...

As I suspected back then, SoF is not going to get up to $185 Million Domestic by rounding up. Currently, it is now only $7,700 away from $184 Million, but with it grossing only $6k on Monday and $10k on Cheap Seat Tuesday and only playing in 125 theaters nationwide this week, its run is all but dead here. If it even remains in theaters next week, it's not likely to make much more than $25-$35k over the weekend, or about $50k additional maximum above the updates that Bruce had last night.

Despite that, we've reached $230,953,510 worldwide already anyhow, leaving us currently at 79.67% Domestic / 20.33% International. (Real numbers, not rounding)

I believe that $235 Million is the floor for SoF now. That would be 78.30% Domestic / 21.70% International.

If it hits $240 Million (I'm 50/50 on this), we're at 76.67% Domestic / 23.33% International.

If it somehow still manages $250 (which I highly doubt), we're at 73.6% Domestic / 26.4% International.

ETA: I was originally going to say that $240 Million is the new floor, but I looked into a few of the major international countries like Mexico and the weekly dropoffs since last reported were somewhat severe. They didn't look as bad in Columbia, but it only grossed $362,312 on the weekend of Sept 21-24 there, so even with a good dropoff it's just not that much money.

Really... It's all about Brazil now. And after the currency conversion revelation in Brazil, it's not going to be nearly as helpful to the bottom line as I thought it was going to be, with the Mexican box office being the likely highest international take.

With only $4 Million to make it to $235 Million, I'm quite comfortable making that the new floor since I don't think there's any chance it won't make that. I just don't know if it has enough gas left in the tank to cross $240 Million Worldwide or not, so I don't want to make that claim.

And for all we know, there's still unreported countries out there that could surprise us in the end. And as we already know very well, Bruce is always adding and subtracting from the international take due to currency conversions until well after a film leaves the Domestic Box Office. I don't expect these variances to be nearly as wide as the $5 Million variance we saw happening for months with Super Mario Bros simply because it made only 6% of what Super Mario Bros. made internationally ($47 Million vs. $786 Million), but the fluctuations will still exist.

Not quite. You did add some extra $$ in there.

Anyway, some interesting things there. Both Bruce and BOM had huge updates that day. Most of the time, these 2 sources do not have the same data or figures displayed. They almost never agree.
So this was a somewhat unique window of opportunity to see some things.

Bruce added West Africa and Azerbaijan, which BOM still does not list.
Bruce also lists South Africa, and also South Africa/others Africa. I have never seen clear info about whether these are nation of South Africa, or continent of South Africa, grouped with West Africa, or some combination of these. I think the entry of South Africa/Others Africa as well as South Africa were both present in Bruce's figures, but only the South Africa entry got updated - at either site.

The following countries had exactly the same figure displayed at both The Numbers and Box Office Mojo on 4 October:
Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Kuwait, Nicaragua, Oman, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Russia, Saudi Arabia, UAE, UK, Uruguay, Venezualea.
Taiwan had $1 less with Bruce than BOM.

At BOM, Croatia had $266,588 on 3 Oct, then $246,464 on 4 Oct, and then Bruce updated to $266,836 on 6 Oct.

Bruce matched the figure from BOM's 28 Sept display for Iceland.

Bruce matched the figures from BOM's 27 Sept display for Poland, Slovenia.

Bruce matched the figures from BOM's 26 Sept display for Lithuania, South Africa.

Bruce matched the figure from BOM's 16 Sept display for Serbia.

As of 4 Oct, BOM did not have a sole, unique nation listed which Bruce did not.

Taiwan was a new entry for both, having just opened.

Today, Bruce added a buttload of new countries/territories, and added over $19.136M to the International Total.

We know. I already posted that.

Not quite. You did add some extra $$ in there.

Incorrect.

Your number of $19.136M was low too. It was an addition of $19,884,380 and I have the archived links to show it.

Quote:

It will be interesting to see how high it goes.

I've upped the floor to $235 Million, giving $240 Million a 50/50 shot. $240 Million is a long shot, and $250 is probably just dreaming.

Really though, who's to say. International reporting is shit and the Domestic run is so close to zero now it hardly matters even if it did get a couple of theaters this week.

Saturday/Sunday Numbers (10/09):

1. Talk to Me - 1,978% (+22%)
2. Sound of Freedom - 1,593% (+0)
3. M3GAN - 1,508% [FINAL]
4. Super Mario Bros - 1,361% [FINAL]
5. Insidious: The Red Door - 1,163% [FINAL]
6. Barbie - 989% (+0)

SoF needs 385% to beat Talk to Me. (About $57 Million --- Never going to happen)

NOTES:

No new information on Sound of Freedom since the near $20 Million dump early last week.

BoxOfficeMojo shows $88,607,317 for Talk To Me. The-Numbers still only shows $67,332,550. I'm basing this off of BOM's numbers. (With the $67 Million from The-Numbers, it's only at 1,489% still).

Talk To Me's Domestic numbers are up-to-date through Sunday. It only pulled in around $70k this weekend.

Talk To Me is only $900k away from being the exclusive member of the 2,000% Club.

Barbie pulled in $782k this weekend Domestic in 808 theaters. It should have gotten a bump, but it's likely that a retraction of some international numbers brought it back down. Not good news when next weekend will be the first time it makes less than half a million. I still have zero clue if Barbie will join the 1,000% Club. My gut tells me that it won't, but it's still possible depending on how international numbers come out in the end.

Also, on BOM about 4 October, Nigeria disappeared.

And since then, UAE changed from $801,158 to $812,758 without apparent changes to totals.

And Colombia changed from $4,394,532 to $4,345,459, also without accompanying changes.

I was not able to grab the weekly data from those 2 before they shifted.

On September 14th, I was asked this question:

October 4th:

Quote:

New The-Numbers Archive for SoF (10/10): https://archive.ph/lMZKl

Worldwide Total (10/10): $235,177,517 (+$4,493,209 from 10/04)

"Rest of World" is now at $3,342,490. It appears that when I took an archive of the update on 10/04, Bruce didn't have the Rest of World row. He may have added it back in the days following, but I didn't capture it. So I can't say how much that went up or down after this new update.

So we've got our $235 Million Worldwide Gross floor.

Will $240 Million be next?

The Domestic Box Office got updated through the weekend and is nothing, just like I knew it would be. Just about $21k in only 70 theaters nationwide.

I don't have the time today to try to look deep into any of these countries, and I don't think that BOM has any new info for us to go through anyway. If all $4.5 Million of that money was new (as in, within the last 7 day block and not out of the Rest of World kitty), I'd say that sure... It's going to hit $240 Million no problem in the next 2 to 3 weeks, but I have no idea how much of it is new given the current state of international reporting.

We'll just have to see if we luck out with a third week in a row with international numbers after about a month with no update in between.

Monday Numbers (10/09):

1. Talk to Me - 1,978% (+0%)
2. Sound of Freedom - 1,621% (+28%)
3. M3GAN - 1,508% [FINAL]
4. Super Mario Bros - 1,361% [FINAL]
5. Insidious: The Red Door - 1,163% [FINAL]
6. Barbie - 992% (+3%)

SoF needs 358% to beat Talk to Me. (About $52 Million --- Never going to happen)

NOTES:

Nearly $4.5 Million update at The-Numbers from yesterday. BOM has not yet recorded this update.

BoxOfficeMojo shows $88,607,317 for Talk To Me. The-Numbers still only shows $68,065,414. I'm basing this off of BOM's numbers. (With the $68 Million from The-Numbers, it's only at 1,511% still).

Talk To Me's Domestic numbers are up-to-date through Sunday. It only pulled in around $70k this weekend.

Talk To Me is only $900k away from being the exclusive member of the 2,000% Club (Per BoxOfficeMojo's tally).

Barbie did finally get its bump. Several of them, in fact. Barbie has been projected to pull in another $160k on Monday, although this money didn't help with the bump when rounding up.

Barbie now only needs 8% to get into the 1,000% club this year.

But despite many claims to the contrary earlier this year, I doubt very much that it will beat last year's Top Gun Maverick worldwide. It would need to make more than $1,473,981,629 to do that.

Its chances of making the $12.33 Million it needs to get in the 1,000% club are still an international reporting coin-flip right now. I don't see how it could ever make another $24 Million on top of that at this point in the run.

Five women have sued Tim Ballard, whose life experiences rescuing children from sex traffickers inspired the movie “Sound of Freedom,” accusing him of sexual assault and battery.

The lawsuit, filed Monday in the Third Judicial Court of Utah, comes a month after it was publicly revealed that Ballard had resigned from the nonprofit child rescue group he founded, Operation Underground Railroad, or O.U.R.

Ballard was under investigation by an outside firm hired by O.U.R. for allegedly coercing at least seven women to act like “wives” while on overseas missions — an allegation he has denied.

Ballard, a former Homeland Security agent, could not immediately be reached for comment on Tuesday. Last month, he dismissed allegations against him as “false.”

October 4th:

Quote:

Worldwide Total for SoF went down to $234,435,634 (a loss of $741,883 from yesterday).

The "Rest of World" rose $123,888 from yesterday to $3,466,378, so I don't know where it came from and I'm not going to bother checking all the countries.

The new archive for anybody who wants to look into it is here (10/12): https://archive.ph/NiqKC

Interestingly enough, BOM now shows the exact $234,435,634 figure that Bruce has at the-numbers. That might be the first time they both showed an identical number.

My post was inexact.
When I said "yesterday," I meant the 9th, before I went to bed, which was before the updates for the 9th were posted, like Australia and NZ.
So, to be clear, the rest of the world may have appeared again at the same time as those 9th updates.

The last few days, UAE figures are messed up. The drop in figures noted are largely due to that error.

Blew right by $235 Million there.

The-Numbers: $238,493,286

Archive (10/17): https://archive.ph/UsvXW

BOM: $238,719,205

Archive (10/17): https://archive.ph/rHcwv

That's around $3 to $3.3 Million more than last week after they lowered the numbers by around $700k.

It's probably going to be at $240 Million by this time next week.

They appear to have pushed back the digital release date to November 3rd, so there should be plenty of time left in the theaters.

I'm now going to say $240 Million is pretty much a sure thing and $245 Million is better odds than a coin flip. Both of these statements are assuming it's still going to get more time in the international theaters before that digital release. Mexico's business is just about dead with only a little over $100k on weekend 7.

At $245 Million, the Domestic / International split would be just around 75% / 25%.

It appears to be doing very well in Brazil. If memory serves, it only got around $1.7 Million there on opening weekend after currency conversion, but is now close to $8.2 Million and only around $4 Million shy of Mexico's current take. I'm pretty sure it will cross $10 Million now and my original guess of anywhere between $10 and $20 Million for Brazil from September 15th will have been correct.

Talk To Me's numbers...

BOM: $89,912,674
The-Numbers: $68,620,005

Tuesday's Numbers (10/17):

1. Talk to Me - 2,000% (+22%)
2. Sound of Freedom - 1,648% (+27%)
3. M3GAN - 1,508% [FINAL]
4. Super Mario Bros - 1,361% [FINAL]
5. Insidious: The Red Door - 1,163% [FINAL]
6. Barbie - 992% (+0%)

SoF needs 353% to beat Talk to Me. (About $52 Million --- Never going to happen)

Congratulations to Talk To Me for being the sole member of the 2,000% club.

It's still $87.4k short of that by BOM's estimates, but that shouldn't be a problem to overcome. The only real unknown here is why hasn't Bruce updated the international numbers for Talk To Me in so long? He's $21 Million behind BOM's estimates. $21 Million is nothing when you're tracking a Billion Dollar movie like Barbie or Super Mario Bros, but that's almost 20% of Talk To Me's total Worldwide Box Office.

If, for some strange reason, BOM is just totally wrong about Talk To Me's international take and hasn't yet fixed the error and Bruce's numbers are correct, Talk To Me sits in 2nd place at 1,533%.

According to BOM at least, it's official...

$90,030,033 worldwide gross for Talk To Me. It is now at 2,000%.

The-Numbers.com is still showing only $68 Million and change.

As for my little argument with JSF a while back about the Production Budget for SoF and my choice to use $14.5 Million instead of only $14 Million, that's all moot at this point.

Even with the lower $14 Million budget number, SoF would only be at 1,707% instead of 1,648%. With the current numbers for both movies, the budget SoF would need to take 1st place would be $11.9 Million.

And just like I won't take WB or the Leftist rags seriously when they tried lowering Blue Beetle's budget from $120M down to $104M after it was clear it was going to be a major flop without providing any receipts to back that change up after the fact other than "Trust me, bruh", I wouldn't even lower SoF's budget to $14M, let alone $11.9M unless they provided all the in-depth financials to the public that they'd probably be insane to release.

SoF won't ever take first place on the Return on Investment list for 2023, but that's okay.

The Top 10 most profitable movies vs production budget this year is a pretty amazing list. Aside from Barbie not a single one of them were over $100M, 3 of them were $100M, and 6 of them were under $20 Million.

There's still a great chance that a few low-budget flicks could displace Miles Morales 2 off that list and only leave 3 movies that cost $100M to $145M to make.

I noticed that with only 3 exeptions, Bruce was way lower on all the individual countries than BOM is currently, so I decided to figure out exactly by how much...

EUROPE, MIDDLE EAST, AND AFRICA:
Croatia: $ 192
East Africa: $ 23,248 [No entry on the-numbers.com]
Iceland: $ 76,454
Kuwait: $ 10,755
Lithuania: $ 1,703
Nigeria: *Not counted because it's a double of "South Africa/Nigeria" on BOM and the $276,058 for both entries on BOM matches perfectly with "South Africa / Others Africa" on the-numbers.com.
Oman: $ 4,843
Poland: $ 0 (Perfect Match)
Saudi Arabia: $153,736
Serbia and Montenegro: $ 0 (Perfect Match)
Slovenia: $ 7,740
South Africa: $ 14,216
South Africa/Nigeria: $ 0 (Perfect Match)
United Arab Emirates: $ 30,852
United Kingdom: $ 71,983

TOTAL SHORT (EUROPE, MIDDLE EAST, AND AFRICA): $395,722

LATIN AMERICA:
Argentina: $ 386,500
Brazil: $4,377,938
Bolivia: $ 48,439
Chile: $ 65,220
Costa Rica: $ 84,182
Ecuador: $ 109,678
El Salvador: $ 9,300
Guatemala: $ 16,859
Honduras: $ 24,246
Mexico: $ 609,629
Nicaragua: $ 9,280
Panama: $ 27,767
Paraguay: $ 11,118
Peru: $ 133,555
Uruguay: $ 25,689
Venezuela: $ 33,713

TOTAL SHORT (LATIN AMERICA): $5,973,113

ASIA PACIFIC:
Australia: $ 30,976
Russia/CIS: $ 9,548
Taiwan: $105,184

TOTAL SHORT (ASIA PACIFIC): $145,708

TOTAL SHORT (ALL COUNTRIES): $6,514,543

And then these are the countries Bruce has a higher number for than BOM.

Colombia: $445,103
New Zealand: $15,887
Spain: $664

TOTAL HIGHER THAN BOM: $461,654

COUNTRIES ON THE-NUMBERS THAT AREN'T ON BOM:
Azerbaijan: $6,747
France: [Not yet released]
Germany: [Not yet released]
West Africa: $5,452

TOTAL: $12,199

So if you subtract the countries Bruce has that aren't on BOM and the countries where Bruce is higher than BOM, the final total in the difference between country numbers on both sites is $6,040,690.

Bruce has Rest of World at $6,228,261
BOM does not have a Rest of World field.

Subtract the additional $6,040,690 at BOM on the individual countries from Bruce's $6,228,261 Rest of World field at the-numbers and you get 187,571.

The difference in International Total currently between both sites is an additional $16,263 at BOM over the-numbers.com.

However, Nigeria was counted twice on BOM as both Nigeria and South Africa/Nigeria, so subtract the doubled up $276,058 from $16,263 and the-numbers is actually $259,795 ahead of BOM on the numbers for international.

I was hoping with all the work involved in doing all that figuring I'd come up with something really interesting, but that doesn't appear to be the case really outside of BOM counting Nigeria twice and just seeing how different outfits do the international figures. These numbers are close enough that they can just be chaulked up to minor errors on either side and there's not going to be any missing money found here that makes any substantial difference.

Hopefully we get another international update by Tuesday. They've been pretty good about it the last few weeks now.

Really... It's all about Brazil now.

The-Numbers finally gets another update.

Sound of Freedom now at $242,611,522 worldwide.

BOM has yet to update it.

The-Numbers Archive (10/30/2023): https://archive.ph/wip/n7GZR

Only $2,388,478 away from $245 Million Worldwide now. Can SoF pull it off?

Quote:

Talk To Me's numbers... (From the 18th of October)

BOM: $89,912,674
The-Numbers: $68,620,005

Today's numbers...

BOM: $90,494,330
The-Numbers: $69,033,655

I really don't know what's up with that $20 Million + discrepancy and why it hasn't been resolved yet. Bruce is obviously still adding more money to this thing, but his international take has been lagging behind by a staggering amount for well over a month now if not two.

Monday's Numbers (10/30):

1. Talk to Me - 2,000% (+0%)
2. Sound of Freedom - 1,676% (+28%)
3. M3GAN - 1,508% [FINAL]
4. Super Mario Bros - 1,361% [FINAL]
5. Insidious: The Red Door - 1,163% [FINAL]
6. Barbie - 994% (+2%)

SoF needs 324% to beat Talk to Me. (About $48 Million --- Never going to happen)

I finally had a deep look into Talk To Me's international numbers at BOM and The-Numbers.com.

At first glance, I thought that maybe the issue was still BOM heavily over-reporting things because Bruce has the report date for "Rest of World" up-to-date at 10/30/2023.

But it's just another database error at The-Numbers (or he really does update all of this stuff by hand from page to page which is insanity).

The combined total of all listed countries is $20,857,130 alone, which is what he has listed for the "International Box Office" at the top of the page.

What he doesn't include in that total however is the "Rest of World" row at the bottom of the page. That's another $20,857,130 that is missing from both the International and Worldwide totals at the top of the page.

When you add them both together it comes to $41,902,507.

That's still slightly less than BOM's International Total of $42,215,727, but only by $313,220.

In any event, we don't have to wait any longer to see if mistakes were made here. Talk To Me is officially the only movie of 2023 to be in the 2,000% club.

Indeed it can.

$245,718,707 Worldwide on a $14.5 Million budget.

We may see a few more million trickle in for this internationally, but we probably won't see $250 Million +. If memory serves, it did hit streaming 4 days ago.

According to Bruce, the split right now is exactly 75% Domestic / 25% international.

Tuesday's Numbers (11/07):

1. Talk to Me - 2,022% (+22%)
2. Sound of Freedom - 1,696% (+20%)
3. M3GAN - 1,508% [FINAL]
4. Super Mario Bros - 1,362% [FINAL] (+1%) Still finding money for this one...
5. Insidious: The Red Door - 1,163% [FINAL]
6. Barbie - 994% (+0%)
...
8. Five Nights at Freddy's (864%)

Poor Barbie. So close.

FNAF is probably going to join the 1,000% club. I didn't bother putting Oppenheimer on the list because even though it did very admirably, it's got zero shot at making the club.

No updates for Sound of Freedom since last weekend, but I'm updating this for FNAF.

Sunday's Numbers (11/12):

1. Talk to Me - 2,022% (+0%)
2. Sound of Freedom - 1,696% (+0%)
3. M3GAN - 1,508% [FINAL]
4. Super Mario Bros - 1,362% [FINAL]
5. Insidious: The Red Door - 1,163% [FINAL]
6. Five Nights at Freddy's - 1,008% (+144%)
7. Barbie - 994% (+0%)

Poor Barbie. So close. (I'm still leaving Barbie up here just in case. It is possible that Bruce finds some money under the couch cushions before this one is officially over. Even Super Mario Bros rose 1% last weekend, and it's been out of theaters forever).

FNAF officially joins the 1,000% club. Congrats to everyone involved.

SOF update. WW Gross is now $246,728,260

Chances it will hit $250 Million are now slim to none. It sure had a great run though.

Monday's Numbers (11/13):

1. Talk to Me - 2,022% (+0%)
2. Sound of Freedom - 1,703% (+7%)

SOF update. WW Gross is now $247,801,879

Although it still managed another $1.1 Million since my last update 9 days ago, chances that it will hit $250 Million are still slim to none.

Wednesday's Numbers (11/22):

1. Talk to Me - 2,044% (+22%)
2. Sound of Freedom - 1,710% (+7%)
3. M3GAN - 1,508% [FINAL]
4. Five Nights at Freddy's - 1,450% (+442%) *
5. Super Mario Bros - 1,362% [FINAL]
6. Insidious: The Red Door - 1,163% [FINAL]
7. Barbie - 994% (+0%)

*NOTE: Bruce didn't have numbers for the Production Budget before on FNAF, and since there were varying reports of the budget from $20M to $25M, I went with the $25M figure. The-Numbers.com now shows that FNAF's budget was only $20 Million. The increase for FNAF since last update was only +152% with the $25M PB figure, but now it's obviously much higher.

It would appear that, so far, SoF has earned more than any other film in 2023 with a budget of $38M or less.

As it should.

Still the best film of the year, and of the last couple years.

No.

Five Nights at Freddy's had a budget of $20 Million and has banked $295 Million worldwide. Once the international numbers come in for last week through the weekend it should be far ahead of M3GAN, over 1,508% of the budget.

I don't think it will get the $342 Million it would need to knock Sound of Freedom from 2nd place and get 1,711%, so it's probably safe from having FNAF beat it on the WW Gross vs. Production Budget chart, but FNAF has outgrossed SoF by $48 Million so far and after the internationals come in it will be way more than $50 Million.

If you were looking at my chart on the Hollywood 2023 thread, it hasn't been updated since Halloween. That's become about a once a month thing now because it's hours worth of work updating it on this ancient site.

To be fair, international reporting for SoF hasn't exactly been stellar.

BoxOfficeMojo only has $247,801,971 reported right now.

Bruce still has $13,142,678 in "Rest of World" that hasn't been allocated, so there's no guarantee that France and Germany haven't already been counted yet and all the international money is actually up to date.

But we're close enough where there could be some stray money coming in that hasn't yet been reported even though the movie has been available for streaming for nearly a month now.

Don't be surprised if you see the box office for SoF actually fall from one week to the next too. Super Mario Bros would rise a million one week and then fall a million the very next week and it bounced around for a few months. I don't ever expect huge Million dollar bounces for SoF since it made less than 1/5th of what SMB made worldwide, but I wouldn't be surprised to see it lose $200k in a week.

I wish Bruce would denote when a movie's numbers are actually FINAL.

I've noticed when updating my spreadsheet that sometimes a movie that hasn't changed for 6 months all the sudden has a change in worldwide gross. It's usually not too drastic that far out, but it always bothers me when a flick that exited theaters back in the first half of 2023 all the sudden has a different total. I might not actually be able to say that my 2023 list is final until July of next year.

Hong Kong release date was 23 Nov. $71K in opening weekend in 1 city, ranked 7.
Oct 31 for Spain.
26/27 Oct for Norway, Netherlands.
10 Nov for Germany, Austria.
25 Nov for France.

These are all still churning Box Office.

Your whining about exit dates from Domestic cinema remains moot.
I expect another half Million when those have their next update. Which is another 3.5% of PB, even if you can't math.

HK and France just had opening weekends. None of this is "stray money"

Actually, I expect $.4M - France,
$82K - Neth,
$70K - HK.
So, at least $552K more from the next update. Like 4% of PB. For 1 week.

$249,152K is 1,718% of $14.5M
$249,704K will be 1,722% of $14.5M

Right now BOM still shows $247,801,971. Bruce still shows $249,152,645 with rest at $13,087,920.

My whining? I can't math?

Who the fuck do you think you are?

Let's talk about your bullshit predictions when this went international, buddy.

$5 M for Peru
$3 M from NZ, Colombia, Argentina

Yeah. You got the part about being wrong correct.

Actual numbers:

UK: $2,648,583
Mexico: $11,732,447
Australia: 3,281,697
Brazil: $3,795,789
Peru: $2,906,541
New Zealand: $864,218
Columbia: $4,934,532
Argentina: $3,583,569

Gee. I'm right again. How does that happen so often?

Then you asked me this question, all the way back on September 14th:

Quote:

Originally posted by JEWELSTAITEFAN (September 14th):
6ix, You have mentioned the ratio of Domestic Box office vs. International for several films.

Do you have thoughts on what the ratio will be for Sound of Freedom?
Define the details and parameters as you wish.

To which I answered on the same day...

Well... I'm not quite sure how things are going to look Internationally when it's done. I still don't know what countries it will be releasing in that it hasn't already besides Brazil and Spain, and it appears it's getting new countries all the time.
...

And where's it at right now? 73.9% Domestic / 26.1% International.

You're quibbling over $1 Million here, give or take $500k at the very end of the worldwide box office run.

Meanwhile, nearly all of my box office predictions have been pretty much spot on all year long, like when I said Blue Beetle was going to make $128 Million worldwide after opening weekend and its final WW numbers ended up being $128,772,124 eleven weeks after my prediction.

And at the end of the day I HOPE SOF MAKES $250 MILLION WORLDWIDE.

I've always been rooting for this movie, but I'm not a cultist on either side and my underestimations here have been validated due to the constant terrible cycle of all parties involved when it comes to international reporting being chronically late and not at all typical of movies that make this kind of money worldwide.

I treated SoF like I treated any other movie out there. Another example of my non-partisanship when it comes to these predictions can be seen in the Songbirds and Snakes Failure Thread. Very early on, once I realized the Production Budget was only $100 Million I stated I had reservations of that one being a flop, and even though Whozit was still calling it a flop after a less than stellar opening weekend I was even less convinced that it was going to flop. And now fast forward 8 or 9 days later and it looks like at least $300 Million worldwide is an inevitability for that movie.

None of the dipshit youtubers out there that dunk on movies all day long came back and said "Whoops. I made a mistake". That's not good for their branding. They just went right on to dunking on Disney's Wish and pretending that Songbirds and Snakes never happened.

I own my mistakes with my predictions. All of them.

But when SoF got a small update to only $247 Million+ a few weeks ago and it looked like it wasn't going to hit $250 Million, that's not something I regret posting. We're talking about fucking pennies here at the end of the Worldwide run on a movie that now goes 3 weeks without any updates. And there's no way in hell I'm going to call this a loss in my prediction record if it does hit $250 Million when I was saying back in September that it had a possibility of making that much.

France looks like it added what I predicted, but is unclear because they screwed up the figures at BOM. It does show an increase in number of theaters every week.
Bruce does now show "rest" reflecting these 3 Box office updates, so he is not including them yet.
