I'm not counting any of the numbers until Bruce posts them.

It will be interesting to see if they get the same numbers in the end or not. I'm not very impressed with how different their numbers are right now.

You're backwards on your NZ assessment. It made $275,871 on opening weekend. It now only has $266,958.

I've already posted about all of this 2 days ago.

Thursday's Numbers:

1. M3GAN - 1,508% [FINAL]
2. Super Mario Bros - 1,359% (+0%)
3. Sound of Freedom - 1,307% (+0%)
4. Talk to Me - 1,267% (+89%)
5. Insidious: The Red Door - 1,163% (+0%)
6. Barbie - 928% (+1%)

SoF needs 53% to beat SMB. (About $8 Million)
SoF needs 202% to beat M3GAN. (About $29 Million)
SoF is 40% above Talk to Me.
SoF is 379% above Barbie.

SoF's numbers aren't up today, but it doesn't matter. It's not going to get another percentage bump this week until Sunday night if it even gets one Domestically. It likely made $155-$160k on Thursday, which will put it at roughly $825k away from the next percentage bump (and I did predict that SoF will make $800-850k this weekend, so it probably should be able to manage that). No new international news for SoF today.

Talk to Me's numbers came in. Looks like it got an international update as well. It did about 13% better than I predicted it would Monday through Wednesday and got that 22% Domestic bump I knew it would, but as you can see above it got a whopping 89% bump since last time numbers were updated, which must be from a few additional million in International numbers. It is now only 40% behind Sound of Freedom and unless Bruce posts some huge international numbers for SoF this weekend it will take 3rd place from SoF with no real signs of slowing down too hard with all that international help.

On Thursday, for the first time since Barbie was released, it made less than 1% of its production budget domestically with only $1.3 Million.

ETA: dangit, I was in a hurry, and assumed you had posted correct digits. But you had transposed 2 digits. I am now editing to correct this.

I dunno man. I think you're looking at numbers wrong and/or misremembering things.

I can't prove that since the international numbers are so shit.

NZ isn't coming anywhere close to $3 Million when all is said and done.

Ohhhhhh.... Right. Yeah. My bad.

Now I remember.

It had something small for New Zealand, like $5 or $6k up there at first, then it had the 266,958 total gross figure up the next week when it put the $257,871 Opening Weekend figure up.

Freakin' international accounting sucks.

Still though... NZ isn't coming anywhere close to $3 Million when all is said and done.

Friday's Numbers:

1. M3GAN - 1,508% [FINAL]
2. Super Mario Bros - 1,359% (+0%)
3. Sound of Freedom - 1,307% (+0%)
4. Talk to Me - 1,267% (+0%)
5. Insidious: The Red Door - 1,163% (+0%)
6. Barbie - 930% (+2%)

SoF needs 53% to beat SMB. (About $8 Million)
SoF needs 202% to beat M3GAN. (About $29 Million)
SoF is 40% above Talk to Me.
SoF is 377% above Barbie.

Still no numbers for SoF on Thursday or Friday yet. And it still doesn't matter. We won't know anything until the real numbers are up through Sunday whether SoF starts next week with a huge advantage in the rounding by coming up short for a percentage bump on Sunday, or it gets that percentage bump now and starts next week off with a huge deficit. It's also too early to predict whether or not it even gets a Domestic bump next week. It's a coin toss now.

No Domestic bump for Talk To Me on Friday. It's about $348k shy of the next bump of 22%, which it will get tonight. It won't get another one until Monday or Tuesday Domestic. It may or may not see an International bump on Monday when the weekend numbers are reconciled after it got that massive International bump early yesterday.

With only $5k on a Friday night, we will never see another bump for Insidious for Domestic numbers. Unlike the blockbusters that bounce all over the place late in the run, the international numbers for Insidious have stayed put for weeks. I'll have to keep an eye on it though because I suspect that there will be some surprises and extra money Internationally for that one like there was for M3GAN long after it left the Box Office.

Barbie gets a 2% Friday night bump. It will probably remain in theaters well into October, but the days of huge gains for this one are over as well. Weekly International bumps won't be huge either, somewhere in the realm of 8%-10% this week and 50-60% of that next week. It will beat SMB for the top grossing flick Worldwide by next weekend though, however it remains to be seen if it will join the 1,000% Club for Worldwide Gross vs. Production Budget. It still needs $102 Million to do that, and I don't think that's in the cards.

Oh... and I forgot to mention that this is the 2nd week in a row that Bruce doesn't have any theater counts for Sound of Freedom in his weekly article on the issue.

It lost 550 theaters last week, dropping to 1,602 from 2,152. It probably lost another 200 to 600 this weekend. My guess is that they drop it to around 1,200. Maybe more if that's where they're getting all of the theaters to add 1,925 theaters to Elemental this week.

And just like I predicted, that was another nonsense move, but even dumber since there was no Cinema Day justification for doing it.

Bruce is currently reporting that Elemental made $894 per theater yesterday, which is a number it hasn't seen since July 17th. This is because his database is still figuring that it was only played in 235 theaters. The actual take per theater for Elemental yesterday was $97.22, which is only $3 and change above what it made on Thursday per theater before the massive theater count bump.

I keep forgetting to mention that the past week Russia is listed as having a 14 Sept release date.

Today, some observations about Box Office figures from Australia - or lack thereof.

For the past week, BoxOfficeMojo has not posted Australia Box Office figures for Sound of Freedom, which was scheduled for release on 24 August. The page for Australia indicates where it's data source is. This link produces a page which has also not provided figures for the 24 Aug period. It had Top 5 Box Office for the prior weekend, and that data was dated 23 August. Today, that data has been updated, with a date of 30 August, and showing some data for 24-27 August. That update was not there on Thursday night, which would have been morning of 1 Sept in Australia. I also did not see it last night, which would have been morning on 2 Sept in Australia. But this morning before noon it was there, with the 3-day old date.
The numbers on BOM have not been updated, with still no SoF, Mastaney, or Meg2.
They post those numbers in, I think, Australian Dollars, although none of the conversions between Australian Box Office figures and US Dollar figures are consistent.
They post Top 5 as
1. Barbie with 3.20 M "week" and 80.19M total, BOM says 1,700,000 for weekend and 53,300,000 total.
2. SoF with 2.42M "week" and 2.43 total.
3. Oppy with 1.95M "week" , BOM says 960,577 weekend and 24,446,606 total.
4. Mastaney with 1.20M "week"
5. Meg2 with 0.98M "week" , BOM has no listing.

The SoF info suggests there was about $10K in Box Office before 24 Aug.

They just turned black for the weekend.
Sunday SoF jumped up to highest take per screen, beating Indy5 and Red Door. It was estimated behind Red Door.

Also, every single day since release, SoF has more $ per screen that Indy5.
Even when it added more than 13% more theaters for the weekend.

Quote:

If trends continue, I expect SoF to gain another 50% this week (end 20 Aug), and another 30% the next week (end 27 Aug), making it about 1315%.
Using Oppy as a guide, 1/5 of the International Box Office comes from UK, Australia, Mexico. i expect $18M from these 3, which would make it about 1445% when these are tallied. Australia starts trickling in after 24 Aug, and UK/Mexico after 1 Sep.

----------------------------
Bruce's predictions for the weekend do not show SoF in the Top Ten.
------------------
Today is the 57th day of release for SoF. 8 weeks.
No figures yet posted for Monday night SoF.
Sunday my local theater did not have any showings of SoF, but did for Fri, Sat, and the rest of this week. Theater counts did not change as listed.

I have "targets" that I expect from International, due to various factors. These are a reminder for me. They are likely to be wrong.

$14 M for UK
$7 M for Mexico, Australia, Brazil
$5 M for Peru
$3 M from NZ, Colombia, Argentina

These add up to $49 M. If they make half of that, plus another $4M from the rest of the world, then that would be $29M, and SoF would pass by Megan's 1505%.

I am not sure about some releases. Which countries are English speaking? I'll conjure that Spanish speaking countries will get a dubbed version of the film. Some countries with other languages, I don't know if they are being dubbed, or just released as "Foreign Language" film, like in art houses.

Updates from Bruce for International, plus BOM International are incomplete, missing, or conflict.

SoF continues to earn more than 1% of Production Budget every day Domestically. Still does better than WokeSayGay Mansion some days.

Sound of Freedom International Box Office.

I think I need to start a new table for this. Data is hard to come by, is not transparent, and seems to fluctuate a bunch. I will need to use Box Office Mojo for source data, and work from there. If other data becomes available, I will try to reconcile that.

You're backwards on your NZ assessment.

Incorrect.

Correct. As reported on 28 August.

Correct. As reported on 28 August.
At the end of the weekend, by 27 August, it had made this much in total.

I've already posted about all of this 2 days ago.

Ohhhhhh.... Right. Yeah. My bad.

Now I remember.

It had something small for New Zealand, like $5 or $6k up there at first, then it had the 266,958 total gross figure up the next week when it put the $257,871 Opening Weekend figure up.

Freakin' international accounting sucks.

You used data from Box office Mojo.
With Box Office Mojo, remembering things is not very important. They keep the data visible, or at least once they make the data available.

Here is the NZ summary for SoF:
https://www.boxofficemojo.com/release/rl2275836673/weekend/

Here is the 17Aug weekend for all releases:
https://www.boxofficemojo.com/weekend/2023W33/?area=NZ&ref_=bo_rl_
table_1

Here is the 24Aug weekend for all releases:

Now, BOM does not list the data for weekdays AFAICS, but a minor amount of math will reveal that info, with the weekend data and total data taken into account.
A minor inconvenience compared to the abysmal lack of data at The Numbers.

You clicked deeper than I did. I didn't realize you could do in-depth numbers for individual countries there. Noted.

True, but not without its own problems. The bulk of international numbers so far have come out of Australia and for whatever reason BOM hasn't even listed them at all on the international tab.

This is why I'm not going to add any numbers on any of my various lists until they show up on The-Numbers for consistency. If it so happens that Bruce never adds these numbers from other countries that haven't made their way to his lists, I will have to do a little bit of research why this is the case and I will likely add the extra money to the lists at that time. Maybe I'll write my first email to him for clarification in that event.

Saturday/Sunday's Numbers:

*NOTE: Since the numbers for SoF finally came out about an hour after writing this, I just edited the post with the actual information rather than update it. Also, new international numbers were just added to Talk To Me, so SoF falls behind TTM for the first time today. New international numbers were released for Barbie as well.

1. M3GAN - 1,508% [FINAL]
2. Super Mario Bros - 1,359% (+0%)
3. Talk to Me - 1,311% (+22% Domestic / +22 International)
4. Sound of Freedom - 1,307% (+0%)
5. Insidious: The Red Door - 1,163% (+0%)
6. Barbie - 952% (+5% Domestic / +17% International)

SoF needs 53% to beat SMB. (About $8 Million)
SoF needs 202% to beat M3GAN. (About $29 Million)
SoF needs 5% to beat Talk To Me (About $1 Million)
SoF is 355% above Barbie.

The numbers for Thursday through Sunday finally came in for SoF. It fell $95k short of another percentage bump from rounding. My prediction for the weekend was $800-$850k and it only made $762, at least as far as projections go. I had predicted that it would need to make $825k over the weekend without knowing what Thursday's numbers were, but even that would have been short since it did worse on Thursday than I thought it would.

It starts next week off with an advantage because of that, but I think it's probable it doesn't even get a second percentage bump by the end of next weekend even though it would only need $1.095 Million to do it. If that's the case, at least it should stave off having a week without a percentage bump for another 2 weeks now, even though they're only 7% each without international numbers.

I'd predicted that SoF would lose 200-600 theaters with my firm guess being 1,200 total. It was on the high end of that and lost 502 theaters and is now being shown in only 1,100.

Talk to Me now overtakes SoF with new international numbers coming in without even having to consider the 22% it would have gotten tomorrow anyhow. TTM is not actually going to get that bump now until Wednesday or Thursday because of rounding, so SoF will take back 3rd place for at least a few days with the 7% bump that it will get on Monday, but unless big international numbers start trickling in for SoF, TTM is going to take that right back by a lot and could pull too far away for SoF to catch up.

(Rememeber... SoF only gets 7-8% per $1 Million grossed while Talk To Me gets a 22-23% bump per $1 Million. And SoF isn't even going to pull in $1 Million on weekends Domestically starting this weekend while Talk To Me still does, and is grossing about 40% more per day than SoF has been).

With International numbers in, Barbie takes the crown of top grossing movie of 2023 by over $21 Million as of 09/03/2023.

It looks like SoF came in 4th place in the UK on Friday with $216k (pounds?) and only 9th place on Saturday with $202k (pounds?). If that is Pounds and not Dollars already, that's a little over half a million dollars in its first two weekend days.

JSF's $14 Million dollar prediction for the UK was insanely optimistic. I'm guessing more like $2 Million. Maybe $3 Million if it's really lucky.

Monday's Numbers:

*NOTE: It's almost 4PM and no real numbers have come in for any movies over the weekend. It looks like nothing is going to be updated until tomorrow. I'm going to put what I think happened on Monday though and we'll see tomorrow if I was right.

1. M3GAN - 1,508% [FINAL]
2. Super Mario Bros - 1,359% (+0%)
3. Sound of Freedom - 1,321% (+7% Domestic / +7% International)
4. Talk to Me - 1,311% (+0)
5. Insidious: The Red Door - 1,163% (+0%)
6. Barbie - 955% (+3%)

SoF needs 39% to beat SMB. (About $6 Million)
SoF needs 188% to beat M3GAN. (About $27 Million)
SoF is 10% above Talk To Me.
SoF is 366% above Barbie.

Talk To Me: As I said yesterday, this one isn't going up on Monday from rounding after the unexpected 2nd batch of international numbers came in this weekend. It's projected at making $473,840 on Monday, which still leaves it over $500k short of another bump. Cheap Seat Tuesday numbers will probably be similar to Monday's numbers. In any event, it should get the next percentage bump of 22% on Wednesday.

Sound of Freedom: It needs only $95k for a bump. It should get that on Monday in the Domestic BO easily with the holiday. If it weren't a holiday I'm not so sure it would have. I'm just guessing that we'll see between $1 Million and $1.5 Million added to the international total by tomorrow afternoon/night for the 2nd bump. It could (and probably should) be more than that, or we might not get any international update at all because who the hell knows what's going on with international numbers anyway.

This rise on Talk To Me might very well be the last time we see Sound of Freedom above TTM unless some massive international numbers start rolling in. Europe and Australia's numbers aren't going to cut it. It needs to play well in Mexico and Latin America or the best it can hope for is 3rd place now after overtaking Super Mario Bros.

Insidious: I missed the fact that Bruce didn't have any theater counts for this for the week, and only noticed it now when I saw that there were no new numbers for the movie all weekend. It appears that this run is done and I'll be able to add that to the finished movies on my main lists. Do expect some additional money to be added in the next month or so once international numbers are tallied.

Barbie: I'm going to call it $4 Million for Barbie on Monday. It's just about perfectly balanced between rounding up or down. I don't think it will make less than $3.5 Million or more than $4.5 Million on Monday, so that should be a safe bet. There shouldn't be any international surprises in the meantime since it got a massive 17% bump from international numbers already this weekend.

Monday's Numbers (Update 09/05):

*NOTE: Barbie's Monday projection came in as did an update on the-numbers for SoF's international. This is the reason for the update.

1. M3GAN - 1,508% [FINAL]
2. Super Mario Bros - 1,359% (+0%)
3. Sound of Freedom - 1,321% (+14)
4. Talk to Me - 1,311% (+0)
5. Insidious: The Red Door - 1,163% (+0%)
6. Barbie - 954% (+2%)

SoF needs 39% to beat SMB. (About $6 Million)
SoF needs 188% to beat M3GAN. (About $27 Million)
SoF is 10% above Talk To Me.
SoF is 367% above Barbie.

Here's what I posted yesterday on each movie:

Quote:

There shouldn't be any international surprises in the meantime since it got a massive 17% bump from international numbers already this weekend.

Sound of Freedom: No Monday numbers for SoF yet, projections or otherwise. The money it needed on Monday Domestic to get a percentage bump is now moot however, since $1,236,173 has been added to the International total on The-Numbers from Australia and New Zealand, which alone was enough to get it over the first hump and secure the second bump. However, these are still the only two countries that Bruce has listed for international reporting as of morning 09/05, when we know full well there are quite a few others that need to be reported.

If no new international numbers come in for SoF soon, this is likely the last bump we'll see for the movie all week. SoF needs $844,673 more for the next bump, and unless it had a stellar performance on Monday, I doubt it's even going to get that much in the states from now through Sunday night.

Talk To Me: Something changed here, but it wasn't Monday's prediction. Talk To Me now only needs around $114k for its next percentage bump instead of over $500k. So it will take 3rd place back from Sound of Freedom with a 22% bump when Tuesday's numbers come in unless the 4 days of projections were far too optimistic.

Barbie: As for Barbie, it performed slightly worse on Monday than I thought it would, with only 3.25 Million projected, so it only got a 2% bump. We're now looking at 4 straight days of projections that haven't been reconciled though, so those numbers could all be off a few percentage points when the real numbers come in.

Bruce also has more data than I noticed before, historical snapshots including totals, weekend, and therefore mathing for weekdays.

Also, this page:

includes the disclaimer which explains your numbers jumping around.
Bruce accepts data from other countries, using their local currentcy.
For his charts, he converts that to the USD using the exchange rate at the moment you look at it.
Which means that the data does not have the exchange rate locked in for the time that the Box Office occurred.
So with Bidenflation, the Brandon Dollar is falling against most other currencies in the world, and then there are occasional corrections. So other nations with large Box Office, which then have a currency change will have a large swing in value of the past weeks of Box Office.

Hope that helps.

Croatia and Colombia are added to SoF BO.

Oh. Cool. Good information there. It certainly does explain the swings that look pretty wild from day to day sometimes for movies that have grossed as much as Super Mario Bros and Guardians of the Galaxy 3. I wonder when they lock numbers in. Do you know that?

Quote:

Yes. I just noticed that on Box Office Mojo. Still don't even show up on Bruce's list at all though, of course. And none of the other countries that should have gotten an update by now have gotten one there yet.

So... Assuming that everything gets reconciled and both sites agree in the end, we're looking at $2,104,037 at BOM and $2,655,327 at the-numbers. And with only the first week reported in NZ at BOM being the overlap between them, that's about $4.4 Million that it's brought in internationally that's been reported so far, and just shy of $2 Million of that hasn't even been added to my own numbers yet. That's another 14%, and it brings SoF within 25% of SMB and only $4 Million more necessary to leapfrog SMB.

What did I tell you about the Hispanic countries? If this is going to win 2023 it's going to depend on them. $1.1 Million opening in Colombia where I wasn't even aware until 10 minutes ago it was being released? That's just a few bucks shy of what it got in Australia opening week. Bonus.

I'm still not going to add anything on my lists and figures until The-Numbers reports them for consistency, but this is all very much on my radar.

Monday's Numbers (2nd Update 09/05):

*NOTE: SoF got a very late night update on the-numbers, so did Talk To Me.

1. M3GAN - 1,508% [FINAL]
2. Super Mario Bros - 1,359% (+0%)
3. Talk to Me - 1,333% (+22)
4. Sound of Freedom - 1,329% (+8)
5. Insidious: The Red Door - 1,163% [FINAL]
6. Barbie - 954% (+0%)

SoF needs 5% to beat Talk To Me. (About $1 Million)
SoF needs 31% to beat SMB. (About $5 Million)
SoF needs 180% to beat M3GAN. (About $26 Million)
SoF is 375% above Barbie.

SoF got $954,977 added from the UK for its first 4 days. This would be in line with what I had read from that twitter Box Office account that claimed it made 216k pounds and 202k pounds on Friday and Saturday night.

Grand international total at The-Numbers now is $3,610,304, and that still only has $266k overlap for the 1st week in New Zealand at BOM, which has the international at $2,014,037, so we're looking at just shy of $5.5 Million overseas so far.

This got SoF to its next percentage bump, which was another 8% this time instead of only 7% with rounding.

But speaking of rounding, this puts it just shy of needing $923k for the next percentage bump, which it probably isn't going to make this week in the US. Monday's numbers still aren't in, but I don't expect them to even break $180k on the Holiday. Cheap Seat Tuesday might see as much as $150k, but I don't even expect it to crack $100k on Wednesday or Thursday here. So if we're optimistic, it makes about $450k by the weekend. It's possible that it can make $923k by the end of the weekend, but I'd reckon it's not going to happen.

Its future is all in the hands of international audiences now, with only minor assistance here and there maybe to get it over the million dollar hump on occasion.

Talk to Me found more money and is just less than $48k shy of $60 Million on its $4.5 Million budget. It is now in 3rd place above SoF by 4% and would have to see huge numbers from Latino countries going out to see SoF to ever fall back below SoF again since it's still making gains and for every $1 Million it makes SoF needs almost $3 Million to keep pace.

But the cool news even if SoF finished 3rd for the year is that the 1st and 2nd place movies only had $16.5 Million production budgets combined, and all 3 of the top movies on the Worldwide Box Office vs Production Budget list for 2023 are going to have $30.5 Million Production budgets combined. If it weren't for SMB doing as well as it did, Insidious would have been number 4 and the top four would have been less than $47 Million combined.

With the 2.0 Rule of Thumb (which likely applies to low-budget flicks even in 2023), those 4 movies have made $520 Million for their studios. In total, these movies which had a combined production budget of $46.5 Million have grossed $613 Million.

They have made 1,318% over their combined budgets, and even with Insidious dragging them down with only 1,163%, it shouldn't be long before the 4 movies combined have out performed even the biggest budget movie in the top 5.

Holy Moley...

I noticed a huge bump this morning after the bump last night for international numbers on Sound of Freedom.

It appears that Bruce got his numbers from Mexico in for 9/6 and its' pulled in $3,976,143 in its first week.

With the overlap between the two sites still only being the first week of New Zealand, we're looking at around just shy of $9.5 Million internationally.

As I said before, I don't expect Europe to be much help, but Latin countries are going to be the thing that could bump SoF to the top.

That's another 28%, putting SoF at 1,357%. Just 2% shy of Super Mario Bros' number today and already higher than the lowest number that SMB has been bouncing around up and down to for the last few weeks.

The next bump for SoF is $947.5k away from now, but when it happens it officially leaves Super Mario Bros in the dust and this has become just a three movie race.

And speaking of the race, it appears that Talk To Me found another $1 Million as well, bumping it up to 1,356%. I really think there's too much gas left it Talk To Me's tank for it not to beat Sound of Freedom with those percentage bumps that it gets every time it banks a million bucks.

I'll update the daily list later today when all the daily numbers come in.

ETA: I said this late last night in the last update, before the nearly $4 Million news from Mexico came in:

Quote:

$923k for the next percentage bump, which it probably isn't going to make this week in the US. Monday's numbers still aren't in, but I don't expect them to even break $180k on the Holiday. Well... It might have made that bump by the weekend. It appears that SoF did better on Monday than projected with an actual number of $337,389 (I believe the projections were in the $200k range?). But it only managed $103,552 on Cheap Seat Tuesday.

My guess is somewhere in the range of $70k per day the next two days, which still would have left it still needing $350k over the weekend. I think that would have been doable depending on how many theaters it loses.

It's all moot now, however. With $190,165,447 in the bank after all the international updates and Monday/Tuesday's take recorded, it only needs $334,101 for the next bump and even if we don't get any new international numbers until Sunday it's going to easily get that much Domestic for another bump.

So... with that next bump already set in stone for this week, SoF is only days away from 1,364% and leap-frogging Super Mario Bros. on the list. Depending on when numbers come in, Talk To Me may or may not beat SoF to the punch there since they're both just a bump away from doing that.

Yeah... That table is pretty hard to read as it is right now buddy.

Did you see all the new money in the last 24 hours?

We didn't get anything else added to the-numbers after the 3.9 Million from Mexico, but it looks like there's another $400k or so added to BOM in the last few hours.

They added over $1 Million from Columbia yesterday at BOM, and I think Croatia and Slovenia are new as well... not that those last two are going to amount to anything much.

$2,403,192 at BOM and $7,588,724 at the-numbers right now and the only overlap between the 2 of them is $257,871 for the first week in New Zealand. So that's $9,734,045 internationally so far.

Unfortunately though, I think Talk To Me is going to run away with it. It just makes so much in the race every percentage bump compared to SoF.

It looks like it may finally be slowing down in the US though. It made $473,840 on Labor Day compared to SoF's $337,389, but I bet it at least doubled if not tripled SoF's Cheap Seat Tuesday take of only $103,552.

This comes off a weekend where SoF made $934,017 and Talk To Me made $1,763,699.

I mean, really... when you look at the numbers, Talk To Me isn't pulling in all that much more per day than SoF is, and they're both at what appears to be basically the end phase of their Domestic run. And even though Talk To Me has been getting international numbers in from the start of its run, it's only pulled in $16.4 Million internationally.

But when it gets a whole lot of international updates like it did this weekend (3 or maybe even 4 times in as many days), it just piles on that percentage over the $4.5 Million budget so quickly.

I think SoF still has a good chance of beating M3GAN with international numbers, but it might be Talk To Me who takes the crown for 2023 because of that small budget.

I even tried looking around to see if there was anyone claiming that TTM's budget was higher than initially claimed, but that information doesn't exist. In fact, I see some sites saying that they did it for less than $4.5 Million, which makes it sound as if they were just rounding up themselves when they called it.

Hey, JSF...

You don't remember where we saw that Sound of Freedom's budget was $14 Million, do you?

I need full transparency on all of this and I can't be put in a position where somebody could claim that I'm picking favorites. I'm always going to use The-Numbers as the first source of information, either using other figures only when it's not available there or when there's been legitimate corrections to errors made there and/or updates that Bruce hasn't updated.

That being said, at this point, the only place and/or articles I can see that have the budget at only $14 Million are a few Christian websites. I know for a fact I wouldn't have used them as sources because that would just be setting me up for easy ridicule.

Everybody says it was $14.5 Million.

I think I might have to factor that into the equation now unless I get an actual source to cite such as Angel Studios themselves saying it was only $14 Million and not $14.5 Million.

I know it doesn't sound like a lot here, but especially when I've been rounding up or down for nearly everything (Except for Talk To Me's 4.5 budget, really), it's going to make a pretty big difference in the race.

$190 Million over $14.5 Million is only 1,310%, not 1,357%.

It's still not the end of the world since I didn't think that SoF really had a chance of catching up with M3GAN and staving off Talk To Me in the end, but this would all but assure it's 3rd place finish in 2023. (Assuming of course, that A24 or some other smaller studio doesn't put out another micro-budget movie that crushes it in 2023).

Let me know.

EDITED TO ADD:

I'm in the process of putting together a project that is going to blow away any of my data collection and lists I've been making here, and rather than relying on rounding of data it's going to be a hell of a lot more accurate.

Because of this though, I may not be updating the lists here for a while.

My ability to track all of this has seriously been hampered because of the nature of trying to do all of this work and post it on an ancient Web 1.0 website, and since I think this all has a lot of merit to it, I want to step up the game and make something that not only really presents this information well, but is a whole lot easier to update and maintain.

Though I don't want to link any work I do to any personal accounts I have on this website, it probably won't be the easiest thing to transfer that information here in my weekly lists either. I'm going to have to think real hard about how I want to handle that going forward here.

It may turn out that my easiest course of action going forward would be to have much more sporadic updates to the lists presented here. Monthly maybe? Or maybe I'll only choose to update the Disney lists here and just present the 2023 data on the other lists when 2023 is over. I don't know yet.

How about that?

I just noticed that Sound of Freedom beat Haunted Mansion on Tuesday $103,552 to $103,326.

The very definition of inconsequential, sure, but the only reason that I noticed it was because SoF's numbers aren't yet up today and I remember I predicted $70k for both Wednesday and Thursday. Haunted Mansion's ACTUAL numbers are in for Wednesday and they were $70,164.

I got a little worried that I might have high-balled my SoF predictions by quite a bit there with Haunted Mansion regularly beating SoF by a decent amount as of late, but given yesterday's performance between the two I might be correct within like a fraction of a fraction of a percent.

Wednesday's Numbers:

1. M3GAN - 1,508% [FINAL]
2. Super Mario Bros - 1,360% (+1%)
3. Talk to Me - 1,356% (+0)
4. Sound of Freedom - 1,310% (-47%) *See Below
5. Insidious: The Red Door - 1,163% [FINAL]
6. Barbie - 956% (+1%)

SoF needs 47% to beat Talk To Me (About $7 Million)
SoF needs 51% to beat SMB. (About $8 Million)
SoF needs 152% to beat M3GAN. (About $29 Million)
SoF is 354% above Barbie.

Not that it matters now, but SoF just kicked MI7's, Haunted Mansions and Elemental's asses on Wednesday. Only a 13% drop from yesterday and just over $90k, which was $20k more than I expected.

But for the bad news...

As I mentioned above, I don't remember where I got the $14 Million Budget figure, and I can't find it anywhere now except for on some Christian blogs. Everybody who covers movies and isn't tied to any religious beliefs says that it's $14.5 Million. Without any evidence or an actual statement from Angel Studios saying it was only $14 Million, I have to change that factor here.

I'm pretty confident that with International numbers coming in like they are it should be able to beat Super Mario Bros. still, but I think Sound of Freedom might have to settle for 3rd place in 2023.

Still, not a bad result, losing only to a couple of indie horror movies with $12 Million and $4.5 Million budgets.

Is the table in the 2 Sept post readable?

I got the impression that Bruce will never lock in the exchange rate. I seems like the way he uses his formulas, he keeps them very fluid. Seems like if he locked them in to the time when they occurred, it may interfere with the way he use "inflation adjusted" formulas.

$14 M was the only figure I saw after the first few days. This was the figure as of the end of 2018. Lefty and woke sites have ballyhooed the $14.5 figure. They base this on the info that, after Angel Studios agreed to distribute the film (like March 2023), then crowdfunding was used to raise something like $500K (specific figures vary) to help with the costs of distribution. As widely reported, ALL OF THESE FUNDS have been repaid to the crowdfunders.
The film was produced for $14M.
I have considered this Fake add-on figure as sour grapes, trying to include Distribution costs, marketing costs, etc. as part of the "Film Production Budget" - although no other film counts it that way - only special treatment for non-woke films which the Libtards have never seen.
I was certain Bruce listed it at $14M.
I thought BOM listed it at $14M.
I've only seen it listed as $14.5M at lefty sites and any place the headline includes "Qanon linked" or "Right-wing" or "Christian-based" or other such nonsense. None of these are in the film, and any relation to those descriptors are after the True Events of the film, after the scripting of the film, after the start of filming, and mostly after the completion of filming, and even after completion of all Production of the film.

I just looked at The Numbers. Everything I had seen about the production budget there has been erased.

First two aren't bad. 3rd one is kind of gibberish on my end.

Well... at some point after the movie's domestic run ends they stop changing. At some point its got to get locked in. It's probably not Bruce's call either.

I've heard that too. Could you provide links that verify any of that without a doubt? I'd love to revert back to $14 Million if I had legitimate sources that could back these claims up.

Quote:

I was certain Bruce listed it at $14M.

No. Bruce never listed the production budget. This isn't out of the ordinary for him, particularly on low-budget movies. I'd say out of the 53 or so movies I'm tracking right now, probably 20 of them don't have the production budget on the-numbers.com.

You want really weird... To this day I can't find a single site anywhere that has the production budget for Woody Harrelson's Champions movie, which was directed by one of the Farley brothers.

Quote:

I thought BOM listed it at $14M.

I've never seen the budget stated there either. That site is kind of a pain in the ass to navigate though. If it is up there and you find it, I'd love to see the link.

Quote:

I've seen it listed as $14.5 Million everywhere. The only sites that say $14 Million were 2 or 3 Christian sites and blogs I stumbled upon, but even they don't say $14 Million specifically and use language like "around $14 Million".

Quote:

I just looked at The Numbers. Everything I had seen about the production budget there has been erased.

I can't be certain it was ever there. Like I said, over 1/3rd of the movies I'm tracking in 2023 don't have them listed at the-numbers.com. And unfortunately not only don't I remember where I got $14 Million from, but I can't even find anybody legitimate that even makes that claim anymore.

1. I don't believe in Mandela Effects, so...

2. I don't really believe that some huge conspiracy theory involving everybody that has ever talked about movies is in on the fix to bump up SoF's production budget by half a million dollars.

It's likely 0% of them are aware of the two of us tracking this percentage thing like we've been doing this year, and I don't know of anybody else that has ever even done that before, including all of the non-woke movie critics and YT commentators.

None of these dummies are even aware of how close SoF was to embarassing everybody else. Well... really, it already has. It will be Super Mario Bros soon even with the downgrade, and there won't be a single big budget movie in 2023 that came as close as SoF did to the top.

And the REAL laugh here is Disney.

Those stupid motherfuckers sat on that movie for years and ultimately didn't release it.

If you look at their combined movies all year, they're in the hole over $70 Million using the old 2.0x Rule of Thumb and nearly $800 Million using 2.5x.

Sound of Freedom is all Angel Studios now and has made over $160 Million with 2.0x RoT, and likely never spent anywhere near the money on marketing necessary to go to 2.5x RoT.

This one single movie has more than doubled what Disney has lost this year in their best case scenario.

BTW... did you catch that Disney Stock briefly went under $80 today?

Sound of Freedom International Box Office.

I think I need to start a new table for this. Data is hard to come by, is not transparent, and seems to fluctuate a bunch. I will need to use Box Office Mojo for source data, and work from there. If other data becomes available, I will try to reconcile that.

It looks like we've got more overlap at BOM now. $3,989,423 for Mexico which (unsurprisingly) doesn't jibe with the $3,976,143 that The-Numbers is reporting.

BOM:
New Zealand: $538,503
Mexico: $3,989,423

The-Numbers:
New Zealand: $534,341
Mexico: $3,976,143

I'm going to call BOM's the overlap and just remove those two countries from the total.

So $7,588,724 at The-Numbers right now.

$6,560,203 at BOM, but subtract Mexico and New Zealand for $2,032,277.

$9,621,001 unique dollars international so far.

It's only $248k away from another raise, and it should get at least $80k on Thursday after getting $90k Wednesday. It will have a Domestic bump long before international numbers come in on Sunday. If not Friday than Saturday for sure.

Let me know if you can compile any compelling evidence that the budget for SoF was below $14 Million. Especially somewhere that you can verify actual recipts that people who invested on kickstarter were refunded their money plus extra. Hell... If there's actual proof of reciepts, who knows? Maybe the budget is only $12 Million and it's already in 1st place right now?

Thursday's Numbers:

1. M3GAN - 1,508% [FINAL]
2. Talk to Me - 1,378% (+22)
3. Super Mario Bros - 1,360% (+0%)
4. Sound of Freedom - 1,310% (+0%)
5. Insidious: The Red Door - 1,163% [FINAL]

SoF needs 51% to beat SMB. (About $8 Million)
SoF needs 69% to beat Talk To Me (About $10 Million)
SoF needs 152% to beat M3GAN. (About $29 Million)

Talk to Me only got $98,266 on Thursday, so it's falling right around SoF numbers in the US. (We still didn't get SoF's Thursday numbers, but SoF made $90k on Wednesday). That being said, it looks like some more international numbers came in so it got another 22% bump. It needs $966k for its next bump. It really should be slowing down at this point, but with how huge a percentage bump it gets with every Million it makes, it can probably still beat M3GAN pretty easily.

Talk to me overtakes SMB for 2nd place in 2023.

I put the list up without SoF's numbers in today because there's no chance Thursday's numbers were going to give it a bump with another $242k needed. Unless some more international numbers come in first, it's not getting a domestic bump until Friday or Saturday.

Barbie had its first ever 0% day.

As of today, I'm retiring Barbie from the daily lists now. There's no way it's joining the 1,000% club.

I fully expect most folk will not have interest in this, but I think it is curious. Not only because Sound of Freedom is such a wonderful film, but also because it is breaking the mold, much like Maverick did last year.

Barbie has been benefitting from strong summer weekday sales, which SMB did not have. (SMB is a Seth Rogan film?) SoF has had strong Saturday and Sunday figures, the days when honest working folk are not working.

Over the weekend, Barbie made 53.0% of it's Production Budget. Sound of Freedom made 54.0% of it's Production Budget.

I m using $14M as the Production Budget figure for Sof, and $100M for Barbie. Barbie's international balances may bounce around, but this table is using the stated observation of 47.5% Domestic and 52.5% International.

All figures not tagged with % are Millions of Dollars.
For Barbie figures, the same figures are both $Millions, but also % of Production Budget.
1st column is Date.
2nd column is SoF Single Day BO.
3rd column is Single Day BO % of Budget.
4th and 5th are Total Cummulative Box Office, and then % of Budget.
6th and 7th are Last 7 Days of Box Office, and then % of Budget. All for Sound of Freedom.
8th column is Barbie single Day Domestic Box Office.
9th column is the % of Budget gain on SoF % for the same day.
10th column is the Total of Barbie's Domestic Box Office.
11th column is the total of the Last 7 Days of Barbie's Domestic Box Office.
12th is the % gain on SoF for the same Last 7 Day period.
13th column - 18th columns are the same things, but for Worldwide Box Office.

July 30 was the first day that Barbie made less Domestic BO % of Budget than SoF did.
Then again on 5 and 6 August.

Took me a few days to build this table, but finally got it.

Today's updated International figures for Barbie put it at 1280% of $100M, which was the denominator used for building this table. So that would be 11% more than SoF on the same day. Barbie was showing 1227% as of yesterday. At that point, it had 45.5% Domestic and 54.5% International.
--------------------
DR is having better Box Office than SoF lately, but it's Domestic total remains $13M behind.

Went to see SoF again yesterday. The 3rd time I tried, it was Sold Out again and I was not allowed to see it. This time I did see it, the 3rd time. This was in a vintage cinema, with $4 shows, every show, every seat, and the largest screens in the county. Right next to Barbie's $4 shows.
Planning to see Retribution next week, so wanted to sneak this one in before running out of time.

Angel Studios pointed out that in the history of Hollywood, 10 films have made more than 35% more on their 2nd weekend than on their 1st weekend.
All 10 were during the Christmas Holidays.
Until Sound of Freedom.

Yesterday the UK numbers at The Numbers jumped up over $1K, while the report date remained the same. Brandon must be overseas working to devalue the Dollar again.

Last night there was no UK figures at BOM, but this morning there was.

Seems the only country missing from BOM is Australia. For 2 weeks now.

Sunday SoF jumped up to highest take per screen, beating Indy5 and Red Door. It was estimated behind Red Door.

Also, every single day since release, SoF has more $ per screen that Indy5.
Even when it added more than 13% more theaters for the weekend.

For 6 Sept, SoF is back in the Top Ten for $ per theater.

Sound of Freedom International Box Office.

I think I need to start a new table for this. Data is hard to come by, is not transparent, and seems to fluctuate a bunch. I will need to use Box Office Mojo for source data, and work from there. If other data becomes available, I will try to reconcile that.

Legend:
Each nation's entry is comprised of 2 lines.
In the first Identifier places, the order is by the stated Release Date. Next is the Country Abbreviation.
In the line below that, the Maximum number of theaters I could find for a film in that country. Then the day which they start their weekend, according to their Box Office Results. This is either Thursday or Friday.
The remainder of the columns have weekday figures in the top line, and weekend figures in the 2nd line, plus the subtotals.
The column labeled Date Range has the range of dates for those figures.
Next column is Box Office for those dates.
Next is the Rank of that Box Office figure.
Next is Theater Count.
Next is $ per Theater Average.
Next is the Rank of the $ per Theater figure.
Next is the Total, for weekdays only.
Next is the 7 Day Totals, which is both lines added together.
Next is the Rank of that 7 Day Total Box Office (when available, or calculated).
Next is the Cumulative Total for that Country.

Then are selected figures from the Prior week, to reference for comparison.

I was wondering what the International Box Office would be, using only the first week in each country, and then maybe all of the second weeks.

So, as if the international releases were at the same time as Domestic - but obviously bot counting the Summer/School factors.

Sound of Freedom International Box Office.

I think I need to start a new table for this. Data is hard to come by, is not transparent, and seems to fluctuate a bunch. I will need to use Box Office Mojo for source data, and work from there. If other data becomes available, I will try to reconcile that.

I hardly ever look at the worldwide box office, so I didn't even notice that Sound of Freedom is the 9th highest grossing movie in the US this year.

Here's an interesting stat. If you just count the top 10 flicks and their US gross minus the production budget, here's what that top 10 Domestic looks like.

1. Super Mario Bros - $575M - $100M = $475M
2. Barbie - $615M - $145M = $470M
3. Oppenheimer - $312M = $100M = $212M
4. Miles Morales 2 - $381M - $100M = $200M
5. Sound of Freedom - $183M - $14M = $169M
6. Guardians of the Galaxy 3 - $359M = $250M = $109M
7. John Wick: Chapter 4 - $187M - $100M = $87M
8. The Little Mermaid - $298M - $250M = $48M
9. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania $215M - $200M = $15M
10. Indiana Jones 5 - $174M - $300M = -$126M

Did you notice how the 4 Disney movies on the list are in the bottom 5? Also notice how Indy5 did so bad that the $126M it lost eliminates the profits from Antman, TLM and all but $46 Million of what Guardians made over the production budget here in the states.

Then notice that the $169M that SoF alone made domestically over its budget is just $3M shy of what Guardians, Mermaid and Antman made over budget in the US combined.

And then laugh when you realize that it could have been Disney pocketing that money if they released it and hadn't shelved the flick for 4 years.

Notable movies that haven't even made the Top 10 in the US though they did worldwide were MI7 & Fast X.

Newsweek actually wrote a good article about SoF and how well it's performing outside of the US right now. I'm not going to bother linking it though because not only did they claim it's in 10th place in the US when it's actually quite comfortably above Indy 5 in 9th place, but they also raised the budget of SoF again and are putting out the word that it was $15 Million now.

Here's another funny stat.

Total production budget for the top 10 movies in the US Box office on 9/8/2023:

$1,559,000,000

Total share of Sound of Freedom's budget in the Top 10 movies in the US Box Office:

0.898%

Friday's Numbers:

1. M3GAN - 1,508% [FINAL]
2. Talk to Me - 1,378% (+0)
3. Super Mario Bros - 1,360% (+0%)
4. Sound of Freedom - 1,310% (+0%) Maybe it made enough for the bump?
5. Insidious: The Red Door - 1,163% [FINAL]

SoF needs 51% to beat SMB. (About $8 Million)
SoF needs 69% to beat Talk To Me (About $10 Million)
SoF needs 152% to beat M3GAN. (About $29 Million)

Nothing really to report for today.

Talk To Me only made $249k on Friday. It needs $335k for the next bump, which it [probably] gets tonight.

No numbers on Sound of Freedom in for today. I can't even say with confidence if it hit that tonight or not either. It only needs around $107k, but with the very poor $60k it pulled in on Friday I'm not sure whether or not it can make it.

SoF will get a 7% bump by the end of the weekend and Talk To Me will get a 22% bump. Then we see on Monday what the international numbers were for both of them.

I'm still confident that SoF beats Super Mario Bros, but 3rd place is probably going to be the end result for the year unless there is compelling evidence found that its budget was only $14 Million or less (Which still ultimately might not get it to first anyhow). I know there are probably a lot of countries that it is showing in that we haven't been privy to yet, but it still needs $29 Million to beat M3GAN and there's a fairly good chance it would need even more to beat Talk To Me, and the Domestic run is all but dead now, especially since it's only showing in 730 theaters this week and could get slashed to somewhere around 300 by next weekend.

Supposedly, Sound of Freedom was 1st place in something like 14 Latin American countries this weekend. No word from either of the tracking sites, but that's what I've heard.

There's no point in updating Saturday/Sunday numbers at all right now since we still don't have SoF's numbers for Friday or the weekend. Hopefully we get some big international numbers this weekend too. We probably won't see anything until Monday.

Talk To Me got its next bump on Saturday like I thought it would. It's now 1,400% even.

I guess I missed it, but Croatia was added on 9/8 to The-Numbers for $73,783 in 57 theaters. Small enough to have not spotted until today.

I saw that SoF had made enough to get to the next bump, so I figured the Domestic weekend projections had come in. They hadn't.

It looks like NZ was updated. It's now at $685,125 on the-numbers. (It's at $538,503 on BOM right now).

This bump at the numbers must have been in the area of $180k, because SoF was $135k short of a bump and now is $955k short of the next bump. I don't think that's what happened though. I think that the bump for NZ on the-numbers was only around 107k and even though Bruce says the Croatia numbers were reported on the 8th, he didn't actually add them until this morning, because I'm pretty sure that BOM and TN had virtually the same NZ numbers until just right now.

Hopefully some of the big numbers from these Latin American countries start rolling in or Talk To Me just completely runs away with it at this point.

Talk To Me is at 1,400% only needing $542k for a 22% bump, while SoF is at 1,317% and in need of $955k for a 7% bump.

Oh...

Just a few minutes later...

SoF now at $191,881,689. Still no domestic numbers in for the weekend. This looks to be additional money from Australia and UK.

SoF now at 1,324% with around $9.2M internationally reported by the-numbers.

It's getting too difficult to bother tracking the overlap of both sites, but it appears there is around $1.5 Million being reported at BOM that still hasn't made its way to the-numbers yet.

According to Angel Studios at least, it was #1 in 18 countries.

In the press release they also revealed the 18 counties where the movie took #1 at the box office. They include: Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Belize, Paraguay, Chile, Uruguay, Argentina, and Dominican Republic.

Not only were they #1 in these Latin American countries, but they also took the top spot in New Zealand in its opening weekend. The film came in second in both Australia and South Africa and fourth in the United Kingdom.

Unfortunately though, #1 in New Zealand didn't amount to diddly squat. It still needs $6 Million to beat Super Mario (which it will get), but it also still needs $27 Million to beat M3GAN, and Talk To Me might just end up in 1st place for 2023, so it might need even more than that to win.

There's still a long time from here until the end of the year. If Angel Studios comes out and shows its books and proves the story that the budget was $14 Million, but then raised $500k on crowdfunding for distribution and then gave those donors back their money plus some more money after it was a success, the budget can be lowered from the current $14.5 Million these percentages are being calculated off of.

Until then, this is nothing but rumor and needs to be proven before the calculations change.

Sunday's Numbers: MASSIVE SOUND OF FREEDOM UPDATE!

*NOTE: Numbers haven't been updated since Friday because of lagging info, so percentage changes are from EOD Friday.

1. M3GAN - 1,508% [FINAL]
2. Sound of Freedom - 1,448% (+138%)
3. Talk to Me - 1,400% (+22)
4. Super Mario Bros - 1,360% (+0%)
5. Insidious: The Red Door - 1,163% [FINAL]

SoF needs 61% to beat M3GAN. (About $9 Million)
SoF is 48% above Talk To Me.
SoF is 88% above Super Mario Bros.

Gotta say it first... Don't nobody get too excited about these Sound of Freedom numbers until we know more first. It wasn't all that long ago that Bruce gave and then took away $125 Million in China to MI7 within about a 10 hour period overnight.

So if you look at the international tab for SoF now, the only new country that got any data was the $73k I mentioned this morning on Croatia. And unlike most other movies where he has a "Rest of World" entry, there is none on the international tab.

But the "International Total" now reads $26,928,706 instead of the $9.15 or so Million it said this morning. Usually the "Rest of World" entry adds up to this along with all of the other country totals.

So... This could all be bullshit and/or an accident. We'll have to watch it the next few days and see what happens. BOM still shows just $7.7 Million internationally.

If this is true, SoF has now grossed over $210 Million worldwide and only needs $9 Million more to take 1st place from M3GAN. Also, if true, the numbers for the first week in theaters in a lot of these Latin American countries should have been high enough where the grosses from subsequent weeks going forward should probably be enough to outpace any advances that Talk To Me has left in the gas tank.

Oh... and after learning from my MI7 mistake, I've decided to archive the Sound of Freedom International tab so people can see what the hell I'm talking about if in the future it turns out this wasn't correct information and SoF doesn't currently have over $210 Million Worldwide.

Here's the Archive Link: https://archive.ph/3OCNn

True, but not without its own problems. The bulk of international numbers so far have come out of Australia and for whatever reason BOM hasn't even listed them at all on the international tab.

This is why I'm not going to add any numbers on any of my various lists until they show up on The-Numbers for consistency. If it so happens that Bruce never adds these numbers from other countries that haven't made their way to his lists, I will have to do a little bit of research why this is the case and I will likely add the extra money to the lists at that time. Maybe I'll write my first email to him for clarification in that event.

Not sure if I mentioned, The Numbers seems to have the same thing. But only for the countries that he publishes the data.

Also, Croatia was posted there late Friday. Shown all weekend.

Release dates for Germany (9 Nov) and France (14 Nov).
France is reporting this is a Fiction Film about Qanon.

Mexico Libtards were trying to convince folk that SoF would not do well, because "pay-it-forward won't work here"

Film's producer announced he is running for president of Mexico. I fear he will be quickly assassinated.
But think about if he and Trump are President at the same time.

I wonder if Trump convinced him to run, when Trump held that Private Screening at his Club in Jersey.

Today, TN updates UK, Australia, NZ. Also started moving around things, placed North America into the list.

BOM added El Salvador - but without details. Still no Australia.

6ix, you are being dishonest by including the marketing budget, 5 years after the Production Budget was completed, as part of the Production Budget of this film.

After I read the Budget was $20M, at the beginning of this thread, YOU stated that it was $14M. Where did you get his info? Did you make it up? Did you dream it?
You are displaying your gullibility by equating your Mandela Effect as your gullibility, and that is weak tea.
Mandela Effect is where everybody remembers that, when Trump had more citizens voting for him than any other person in history, even more people cast ballots for Obiden. Only idiots believe that actually happened, yet the majority of Americans following Fake News know that this happened.
Mandela Effect merely describes Libtards.

Terms used for this $5M investment were "marketing funds" and "launch budget" among others.

I'm not including the marketing budget. I never include the marketing budget for any movie before applying the 2.0x and 2.5x Rule of Thumb to the movies.

Quote:

5 years after the Production Budget was completed, as part of the Production Budget of this film.

Again, that's not what I'm doing. Part of PRODUCING a movie is DISTRIBUTING the movie. It makes no difference if it's 1 year, 5 years or 100 years after the movie was filmed and edited. If Angel Studios needed $500k in 2023 to secure distributing rights, and it raised that money on a crowdfunding platform to do so, that is part of the Production Budget and not part of the Marketing Budget.

As I stated before, if Angel Studios comes out and shows that they paid that money back plus some, as I've seen before you stated this event took place, then the Production Budget was actually less than the original $14 Million that it cost. I will simply need irrefutable proof of these events taking place.

Quote:

I told you that I don't remember where I got it from. I did not make it up, but aside from a few Christian blogs now I don't see this information anywhere.

Quote:

I told you that I don't believe in the Mandela Effect. I simply can't find any source that I consider would be unbiased and legitimate that states the budget was only $14 Million today when at the beginning of this thread I had found such an article that I felt met that criteria. My mistake was not citing the reference at the time and/or archiving an article of the statement.

I know what the Mandela Effect is, and I don't believe it for a second.

The inability to read and comprehend what somebody said is also something that Libtards do.

You're not a closeted Libtard yourself, are you JSF?

This, believe it or not, may have been the article that I saw way back when I put $14 Million as the budget.

However, now with the Crowdfunding for Distribution purpose (which I've already explained is part of the Production Budget and not the Marketing Budget), and with every other legitimate website in the world saying $14.5 Million was the budget, I will need actual proof of the events that took place and this additional money that was crowdfunded was returned if I'm going to lower the budget back to $14 Million. Not just some statement that isn't even a quote in a single article.

In the end, this could be better for SoF's chances of taking and maintaining the number one spot for 2023 if it leads to actual reciepts that people were paid a dividend off of this crowdfunding and the budget actually shrinks.

Meanwhile... If those International numbers that Bruce posted today are legit and don't get removed, it might be moot. If today's additions are due to 1st week BO numbers for the 18 Latin American countries, the 2nd week is going to be really high as well. If it follows trends and makes even half as much in its second week in those countries, it beats M3GAN by next Sunday without taking into account any takes from other theaters we already have tracking for.

And with Talk To Me finally slowing down, it might not have to make much more than 1,508% of its budget to maintain first in the end.
