This is a most excellent movie.

I was hopeful, but half resigned to being disappointed, as I have been many times in recent years.

I hate posting Spoilers, and will not do so in this Opening Post. However, the next post I plan to post a tag of "Spoiler" even though they will not really be spoilers, but merely background or context data.
They could be considered spoilers by such folk who consider news of Terra orbiting Sol to be a spoiler of previously unknown revelation, or perhaps that the Titanic had sunk before 1990. Or that NASA really did have a disaster in April 1970 on the Apollo 13 mission.

Anyhow, the only thing that could be missing from this was Sci-Fi, to satisfy those who like that sort of thing.
But this was a true story.
Madonna's hubby directed, and I have seen some of his films before. This work is so far superior that I practically forgot that he was involved, other than for some frenetic pacing of some action scenes.
The cast was wonderful.
I have not seen Alan Ritchson before, although he plays Jack Reacher on smaller screens (large screen Reacher is Tom Cruise, who plays Ethan Hunt, another derivative of the events/players of this mission). This is a great showcase for him.
I have seen Eiza Gonzalez in works before, such as Alita. But this is a HUGE part, and she performs masterfully.
Sometimes I find myself annoyed by performances by Cary Elwes. But here he plays his role to a T.

Yes, this is the Operation and real life heroes upon which James Bond was based on. There were times when I felt that it had the feel of the best of 007 films. But in war. And in real life. Like an excellent Tom Clancy story/movie.

I am at a loss to think of something I would want different from this film.

There is lots of killing, in the context of War. So the littlest kiddies might be kept away. Not as graphic of killing as has become norm lately, I don't recall lots of guts, but a bit of blood does gets spilled. I would consider it a film for anybody who can handle the subject matter, the action. Even good for date night.

I saw it on Saturday, at my favorite cinema. And then again on Sunday, at a theater which annoys me and I usually avoid.
I saw lot of pairs, couples, and groups of parents with kids.

I heartily recommend this.

This is a film about British. And it is apparently not allowed to be shown in cinema in Canada, UK, or Yurp. Quite a shame. Because the makers were paid to only show it on some youboob contraption. This will make the "North American Box Office" appear far less impressive than it really is.

I was initially wondering why this was being shown now, rather that the summer - for if the summer lineup is better than this, we are in for some blockbusters. But then I realized that they need to get this out as soon as possible, before other exclusionary deals are made, to prevent anybody from seeing this.

Not really spoilers, really just background and context. None of these should infringe upon your viewing experience. Some are conversion reference, for American audiences - since British and Canada cinemas are not allowed to show it.

In the Epilogue set, after the name the initials VC stand for Victoria Cross - the highest award in British Military, like the Medal of Honor in USA.
MC stands for Military Cross - the 2nd highest British Military award, like the Navy Cross is for US Navel servicemembers.

The timeline in the film is somewhat vague, but the scenes where Churchill gives the initial directive to Brig. Gubbins is about the end of November 1941.

The despicable and traitorous British military leaders who were Churchill's War Cabinet, and were trying to convince Churchill to surrender to Hitler, and who kept working feverishly to sabotage Britain and wipe all of the UK from the map, were the leftovers from Neville Chamberlain's War Cabinet - his appointees. This is similar to the American situation which resulted in President Andrew Johnson's Impeachment, were Lincoln's Cabinet refused to resign and worked to backstab the President at every step.

I was trying to think of why I felt the film was so enjoyable.

I think it is because it made me feel like watching a classic western. Like The Magnificent 7, The Wild Bunch.

The Fall Guy comes out on Friday.
So for this 2 week span, Ministry is the best film of the year, so far.
