About a week ago while searching through the web I stumbled onto the Batman Begins screenplay that was leaked on the internet a little while ago. Now I've been thinking alot about whether or not I should give the name of a site with the script on it. I fear that Warner Brothers might notice and have it taken off the web. But after alot of thought I just have to find out what other fans of the genre think of the new Batman storyline.

So here is a link to the Batman Begins script in PDF format.

www.angelfire.com/film/sharpie/batmanbegins.pdf

I would like this threat to be a discussion of the material in the script so please feel free to post spoilers. Heck, it's in the name of this thread. I want to know what people like about it and what they don't like about it. And what things they themselves would have personally added to the screenplay to make it better.

Come on, no takers. I thought by now at least a couple of people would have responded with their view of the script.

After reading that script, I now know this movie is going to kick-ass. It really is great that they have managed to get as far away from the sillyness of the Schumacher version of Batman movies.

David Goyer is a terrific screenwriter and Christopher Nolan is a magnificient director!

Anybody But Schumacher!

Anybody But Clooney!

I say this to you George Clooney....

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Quite honestly I like this script better than any of the other Batman movies. This movie will give those with a limited knowledge of The Batman some insight into his psyche, what created The Batman, and what drives him.

That's exactly the same idea I came away with when I read the script!

A few months ago I read a script-review of Batman Begins. In the review, the reviewer mentioned how unlike all of the previous Batman movies, this movie will put more of a focus on Batman/Bruce Wayne.

The 1989 Batman film was virtually the story of the Joker. Batman Returns really starred Catwoman and the Penguin. In Batman Forever the Riddler and Two-Face stole the movie. And of course in Batman & Robin, Batman/George Clooney barely had any lines.

We are finally going to get a Batman film actually about The Batman. Therefore it will certainly get into his psyche. Not just pretend to like Batman Forever.

Thank you David Goyer and Christopher Nolan!

I think this is far better than any of the previous Batman. I didn't want to read too much, but almost couldn't quit reading it. It reads much more like the dark story it should be and not a goofy bunch of one liners for Michael K. and Jack N. I only saw the 1st & 2nd movie, and that was all I could bear. I really hope the film comes off as good it's script reads.

I'm also eager to see Killian Murphy in this as he's on my favorite list. (I love 28 Days later)

Yeah, 28 Days Later was a great movie and from what is in Goyer's Batman Begins script, the role of The Scarecrow is going to be a really intense role requiring a lot of talented acting. I know Murphy will be able to pull it off.

This is one of the best fing scripts I've ever read. Unfortunately, this isn't the shooting script, so there's no telling what changes were made. Hopefully, few.

Fantastic story, lots of action -- yep, this movie's gonna rock!

That's a good point. However I'm sure Nolan is smart enough to know what the best parts of the script are. So the best parts have probably stayed and they probably have added some even better things in the new revised shooting script.

I don't want to trawl through it to spoil the movie for m'self, so could anyone tell me which enemies of the Bat's are appearing, other than Ra's al Ghul?

Here is some brief info about BB footage!

http://www.superherohype.com/news/batmannews.php?id=2053

Not sure if anyone has seen the latest issue of Wizard, but in there they had a nice little article about a special showing of a few scenes of the new Batman Begins movie. And from the response of the crowd the movie is really shaping up to be great, the audience gasped at the first sight of The Scarecrow, and a few actions scenes that had the audience wanting more. It also showed Bruce (Christian Bale) was training fighting Henri Ducard on a sheet of ice. All in all the article was very informing and the audience gave the movie a standing ovation when the scenes were over.

It looks like "Nolan's Baby" will truly resurrect the Batman franchise in more ways than one.

By the way, its a shame the man who played Superman in the movies has died. Instead the man who played Batman in Batman & Robin should have died!

Katie Holmes looks great and I can't wait to see how see handles her character, because in the script Rachel comes off as rather interesting.

Cillian Murphy is a fine actor, but I don't know if he is going to pull off the part of Jonathan Crane/The Scarecrow. Is it just me or does he look a little too effiminate in this picture.

Great script + great actors + great director = Damn Good Movie!

And by the way, here is an amazing spoiler...

Select to view spoiler:

George Clooney is an obnoxious, shit-acting, rectal-blood drinking, cum-guzzling, douchebag from hell. Everyone one who reads this, I beg you not to go see any of his movies and pray he get Penis Cancer. Christian Bale could kick his ass any day of the week. So could Michael Keaton and Val Kilmer. Hell, even Adam West could give Clooney a real whipping.

Yes, I have. I thought it was alright. Not as good as the hype led me to believe. Either way, Cillian Murphy's acting was great.

While I have every faith this will be a decent Batman film that will recover from the blows Shumacher dealt the franchise (and yes I was never wild about Burton's films either but at least they were watchable).... I have to admit I'm still a bit dissappointed in the Batsuit. I love the casting and choice of villains. I think Nolan's really talented and will do a great job, but if we're doing Year One in a sense why stick to yet another bland version of a black rubber..ahem...sorry.. armored suit?

It doens't have to be bright blue or nothing but some honest grey and a contrasting bet emblem would have been nice. As is the best costume depiction I've seen is in the fan film Batman: Dead End. But If the film rocks, it'll be a minor quibble....

I'll skip the script for now. I figure I want to be surprised for this one since I ended up reading WAY too much on Serenity...
