I went to see Night at the Museum not bad great for kids. Looks like summer we will have the new movies Transformers & Fantastic Four with The Silver Surfer in it. Both look exciting. I also went to TV.com and saw that a show starting in October called Caprica for all the new BSG fans. About the Adama family 50 years early. Adama is bibical for Adam I don't why I brought that up but theirs it is. I know I am forgetting another scifi tv show so help me if you know anything new on the ole horizon. Lets see big drink, big popcorn with butter and matinee ticket lets see 50 bucks should cover it.

Frank Miller's "300" looks to be very good. Saw the trailer at the last movie we went to see. My younger son even brought my attention to it when he caught a preview of it on the web. He was excited and he doesn't usually like movies of that kind.

America loves a winner!

I didn't know about The Fantastic 4, but had to mention the new Spiderman movie, coming this summer.

People love a happy ending. So every episode, I will explain once again that I don't like people. And then Mal will shoot someone. Someone we like. And their puppy. - Joss

I just checked IMDB.com on the new movie 3:10 to Yuma with Russel Crowe. Guess what our boy Alan Tudyk is in it as Doc Potter. This is big cause its a classic American Western comes out in the fall. Not sure exactly but around then. The Silver Surfer in F4 looks bad to the bone in the trailors. I can't believe how right I was on remakes with the FF cast and Bam there ya go.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles hasn't been mentioned yet. But yeah, Transformers is soaking up all my drool. The new designs are beautiful.

Also, Canada is finally getting season 2 of Stargate Atlantis. Keep your eyes peeled for Dresden Files as well.

The US will be getting "season 3" of Dr. Who. Canada will only be getting the rest of S2, because we suck.

Theres a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles??? Wow, that took me by surprise. I'll definitely be checking out Transformers as well.

I guess technically it came out last year, but it'll be released everywhere this friday: Children of Men. Not only doesn't look awesome (Bladerunner meets Soylent Green) but its been getting beyond stellar reviews.

Hmmm.

I must admit the cinema is looking a little weary to me. Not happy about the current crop of superhero films. They promise so much and yet never deliver. It really is time to lay this genre to rest for a while.

The transformers trailer does look nifty - but this is just the trailer, they always look good. We need a solid narrative with this one, otherwise it'll be another let down of the HULK kind.

As for 300.... Dangerously glossy looking. Again if it's bound by a solid story then fine - but another film with snazzy images wont cut it.

TV looks a little more interresting though with the impending conclusion to LOST season 3. Very much looking forward to that.

But yeah, it is exciting waiting for the new year in terms of entertainment.

I always have a list of movies as long as my arm of films I want to see. I have a giant pallet of tastes, so there's always something for me to look forward too.

For January, ALPHA DOG, CATCH AND RELEASE and SMOKIN' ACES. I'm not counting the critical darlings that are on the ten best lists that go wide at this time, since they're technically last years.

For February, THE MESSENGERS, HANNIBAL RISING, THE NUMBER 23, RENO 911!: MIAMI, THE ASTRONAUT FARMER, BLACK SNAKE MOAN

For March, ZODIAC (new Fincher movie finally), 300, FIDO, REIGN OVER ME, LUCKY YOU, THE WIND THAT SHAKES THE BARLEY, SUNSHINE, TMNT, MEET THE ROBINSONS, THE REAPING, RESUE DAWN, BLADES OF GLORY, THE ASSASSINATION OF JESSE JAMES BY THE COWARD ROBERT FORD

For April, GRINDHOUSE (this I'm surprised hasn't been mentioned yet because this is a wet dream for film geeks), HOT FUZZ (the latest from the guys that made SHAUN OF THE DEAD) and THE KINGDOM

And that's just the first four months. Too bored to go from May to December.

Ranger Danger won't be active till maybe 2008. Right now, Kevin's prepping for a horror flick, which I have to admit seems interesting. If you've read his runs on DAREDEVIL and GREEN ARROW, he can write dark and scary stuff. And horror relies heavily on timing, like comedy. So I think Kevin would do a good job as a horror director.

And if you're still scoffing, keep in mind that John Landis has made both great comedies (ANIMAL HOUSE, BLUES BROTHERS, etc) and a great horror film (AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON), so don't think of them as mutually exclusive genres.

ANIMAL HOUSE is a very good movie. Imagine showing it to your now 17 daughter-it was a hoot laughing with her.

Saw AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON a few weeks ago on TV for the first time in years. I'd forgotten how good it was and how groundbreaking the effects were for it's time. Also remember Landis' THRILLER video for Michael Jackson. It was awesome too.

To look forward to 2008, I read today that George Lucas and Steven Speilberg have settled on a script for Indiana Jones' last movie. It starts filming in June and it'll be released summer of '08.

Just hope ole Harrison Ford is up to it. I saw FIREWALL and he's really slowing down. He needs some one new to fill the shoes. As in Nathan Fillion anyone?

Not my part of Canada (i.e., not Toronto, not Vancouver). We got Season one. . . beginning of last year? 'Bout the same time it came out on DVD, anyway.

It played once on space, then went to CityTV, who've been playing S1 in rerun loops (all of S1, then back to the beginning).

It's been announced that after 15 years, the next Indiana Jones Movie will hit the screens in 2008. Granted, this isn't an '07 film (the point of this thread) but I thought it was important enough to mention.

Read about it here:

I don't have any problems with a remake of TMNT but I just saw a commercial for a new version of The Hitcher. Why oh why can't Hollywood leave well enough alone? There is no way the original can be improved upon. Whatever anyone may say about Rutger Hauer and C. Thomas Howell they were at the top of their respective games in this movie. I imagine the remake will have increased gore, violence, and sex...yeah that will make it a much better film.

TMNT isn't a "remake," per se (that was the cartoon series from 2003), though there is ambiguity as to just what timeline it fits into: one scene has Easter Eggs from the first and third movies, as well as from the comics and/or the new cartoon.

I'm with you there, ncbrowncoat!

No one can be Indiana Jones, but Harrison Ford, but that doesn't preclude Nathan from being

1. his long lost son with Marion ( from Raiders ). Rumor has it that Karen Allen is in the next film.

2. Another adventurer who works alongside him and takes over his mantle.. uh.. I mean whip and fedora.
As I've said before... a gal can dream.

Back to the subject of 2007... there aren't any movies I'm interested in particularly.
But I am very interested in Tim Minear's next series, "Drive". Not just because Nathan is starring, although I will admit that has a kinda poetry to it. But also because it looks intriguing and well.. Tim... yeah.. Tim.

Ask me how to join The Appreciatin' Nathan Crew!
