How many peeps here saw it? I just watched it the other day for the first time in years, and I'd forgotten how GREAT it was... it works as science fiction AND a martial arts flick- and that's no mean trick!

So I'm the only Browncoat who saw this- I guess it is I who am the ONE.

CYBERSNARK

No, I saw it too.

Wasn't bad, but it wasn't as good as Romeo Must Die or Unleashed. I can't help thinking Li was miscast; it was a great martial arts flick, and the plot was good, but I just didn't feel the emotional arc.

As good as Li is at the martial arts, he's got the acting chops to carry drama, and One just felt like it was wasting his talents on the ham-fisted Good/Evil duality. It would've been just as good with a lesser actor (which is more a kudos to Li than a dig at the movie).

Though the image of Jet Li with dreadlocks justifies a hell of a lot.

Likes to mess with stuffs.

I didn't see it, but from what I remember, this movie was made with Glenn Morgan and James Wong of X-Files and Millennium fame, right?

At the time, I remember there was a lot of disagreement between Jet Li and the duo as to the direction of the movie and Jet Li was trying to impose his own philosophy into the movie and had the script altered. The end result being something that didn't resemble the original script and vision of the director.

Most believed that the final product was a mess and ultimately did poorly at the box office.

That was what I believe made it unique- the alternative would have been just another whiz-bang sci-fi actioner. And having Hsing I face off against Bagua was particularly fascinating, from a martial perspective.

Hey Chris, sorry, late to the party.

Yeah, it's one of my favorite movies. It is certainly noteworthy to see anyone practicing Bagwa in a movie! The final fight between hard style Jet and flowing style Jet was worth the price of admission, alone! But I thought it was very coherent from a story standpoint and I thought Jet Li was entirely up to the task. His acting was obvious, but it wasn't bad. The way the different universes interacted was fun to see. Too bad about Statham, though. As I understand it, the guy didn't know a lick of gungbu () before this movie--seems this is the experience that set him on his disastrous martial arts movie career.

Hey, hey, hey, don't be mean. We don't have to be mean, because, remember, no matter where you go, there you are.

Definitely. It was Jet's statement on the way to deal with life IMO.
