... fully loaded, safety off...

A well worn genre for sure, especially lately, but I for one am hugely looking forward to this adaptation coming to AMC this October. I am even going to go out on a limb and say... it could be a show that gets me as addicted as Firefly.

It has a lot of the same elements as Firefly: strong male lead not unlike Mal and a bunch of atypical supporting characters all coming together to survive in extreme circumstances. Plus the undead. And if you are sick of zombies, consider that the writer and AMC's earliest comments all suggest that zombies are not even a main element, merely a back drop for the human drama. Kind of like space and the Alliance and Blue Sun.

STORYMARK

The comic is great, and I like Darabont a lot, so I'm really looking forward to this.

"I thoroughly disapprove of duels. If a man should challenge me, I would take him kindly and forgivingly by the hand and lead him to a quiet place and kill him."

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Been following the development of this series pretty closely. I've been following the comic since issue #1 and it is a great story where Kirkman doesn't pull any punches.

Every time I look at that cast photo I am amazed at how closely they have cast the parts in comparison to the art in the comic. Only differences I notice are Rick's partner (the guy with the shotgun) Shane, and Carl, Rick's son. In the comic Carl appears younger and smaller than what they show in the cast photo.

Cast: same here. I like the fact that most of them - like Firefly - are not well known. You are right about Kirkman - he's doesn't pull any punches!
