Quote:Joss Whedon has said that his adaptation of The Avengers will not be a "lull fest". The project, which is scheduled for a 2012 release, has a roster of high-profile actors stepping into the comic book roles, including Robert Downey Jr and Scarlett Johansson revisiting their Iron Man 2 characters and Samuel L. Jackson joining as Nick Fury. Speaking to SFX, Whedon admitted that he was conflicted between producing a comic book action movie and a more dramatic acting tome. He said: "What I will struggle with, in the outline and throughout, is that I would like to put these actors in a room and just make Glengarry Glen Ross. "We're talking about really exciting people and at the same time I have to keep the momentum of the thing going. I can't let it turn into a lull fest." Whedon said of Mark Ruffalo's Hulk: "He was my first choice to play the part, and the fact he is playing the part is nuts! They went to great lengths to make that happen and they understood exactly why he was right for the part."

Didn't that win all sorts of awards, get good reviews and do well at the box office? Nope can't have that. Personally not my cup of tea, but I think there could be worse films to take after.

I'd rather pay to see that (great excuse for lashings of dry witty banter and blackly humorous, surreal violence - who better than Mr Whedon?) than yet another 2 hours of costumed superheroes. Didn't we deconstruct those already?
