Is this what Joss Whedon had in mind all those years ago when he was writing a script? Magic lasso and bullet repelling wrist protection?

Warner Bros. Television has provided us with the first image of Adrianne Palicki starring as the title character in the new NBC pilot "Wonder Woman," from executive producer David E. Kelley ("Boston Legal," "Ally McBeal," NBC's "Harry’s Law"). The pilot was written by Kelley, who also serves as executive producer with Bill D'Elia ("Boston Legal," "The Practice," NBC's "Harry’s Law"). Jeffrey Reiner ("The Event") is directing. Based upon DC Comics characters, "Wonder Woman" is from David E. Kelley Productions and Warner Bros. Television.

No complaints about the actress. The costume itself looks tacky as hell. It's also very obviously cheap plastic. If this is just a proof of concept and they make it high quality for the real thing (and show some leg) then it's all good.

The weird thing is I thought they were going to go more realistic from the sound of it. I thought they might not even have a costume. Boy did they go the other way on that front.

Looks like a Halloween costume from the mall.

They say they're going realistic and non-cheesy..... then they release script pages where she obsesses over needing larger breasts, and dress her in shiny pleather.

It could be worse, and the costume is a bit hard to translate to live action, but still. I'd have preferred the recent comic redesign, jacket and all...

It's next year's "The Cape".

(This post is in no way an objection to showing leg.)
Wonder Woman has been officially redesigned to wear pants. Until another official redesign, or an official undoing of the redesign, leg will not be shown.

...Not that this outfit leaves a whole lot to the imagination. She's pretty, and though her face is a bit round for it, she looks enough the part that I wish it was going to be a better program.

For those that would like more leg - The costume pants are tight enough that there is little left to imagination. Use a little of that imagination and pretend her legs are blue. :-)

... fully loaded, safety off...

She looks stunning and fake at the same time. Those tats are dialed in for sure. "I'll take a size...." and the rest of her very trim and slink-tastic body is like it's from a Perfect catalogue. WOW! but also like over white teeth.
The costume is the biggest let down - so average, like "what's the least we can do?"
On balance: it's TV! Whether it really works or not depends on a lot of things besides futzing over how she looks.

The color tweak from Hawk Studios is black pants with red boots.
For comparison with the TV costume, Wonder Woman, April 2011, No. 608
In the comic, her boots have no high heels, aren't red or blue, and her pants aren't electric blue vinyl.

I agree as well but as see it more in line with the next 'Bionic Woman' (the reboot). The Cape was wasted potential but had it's moments IMO, but the Bionic Woman redo was bad from the start.

I don't know the actress or anything she's done so I can't comment on her acting ability but from what I've seen and read it doesn't appear to be shaping to be anything much. I may be proven wrong but I don't see it making it through the first season.
And to add to it they have Liz Hurley in it. Someone who has never shown any acting skill in any way. She's only 'famous' because of Hugh Grant. She's enough to make me not watch.

I have seen gals dressed at comic book conventions with better WW outfits(made from scratch no less).
I'm guessing it will do pretty well in the ratings.
Wonder Woman has a pretty hardcore fanbase. Even the Linda Carter series ran for 3 seasons, and the stories were really, really bad.

A 50 plus year comic book series with an iconic character that is still going to this day is a little bit different than Firefly. A show that nobody knew anything about, and had to establish a fanbase from nothing. Hell, the majority people that post on this site are converts that didn't watch the original airings. When I mentioned Wonder Woman fans are hardcore I didn't mention that the fanbase is also a substantial amount of people. All the people that buy the comic book will view the tv show. Firefly didn't have that luxury.

When Wonder Woman gets the OK for a second season, you may want to rethink your statement. If I'm wrong, you can resurrect this thread and shame me, but that isn't going to happen.

That doesn't necessarily follow; I'm a Superman fan, but I avoided Smallville like the plague.

I invoke Smallville advisedly; this looks to have as much in common with the "real" Diana of Themyscira as EmoClark did with the real Superman.

David E. Kelley is no Gail Simone. I'd imagine a lot of Wonder Woman fans will recognize this as the cheap, vaguely offensive stereotype-fest it's shaping up to be.
