I saw the first season long ago, and then never saw the rest. Yesterday I impulse-purchased season 5 ($17 at Buymore) and threw it on, and it's like I remembered (outrageous, exciting & improbable) , but this season will have no cliffhanger ending!

Any fond memories of this series?
Any outrage that I skipped season 2-4?

No outrage, although I think Season 2 has some of the best moments of the series. I think seasons 3 & 4 were weak, especially compared to 1, 2 & 5.

Any scene with Nadia (Mia Maestro) is a fond memory for me. Oh my wow she is gorgeous!

Season 5 is great. Enjoy!

ECGORDON

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

The only thing I saw from the fifth season was the last couple of episodes, maybe just the last one. I had bailed on the show at the beginning of the fourth. There was always a lot of bull to have to accept to make the story work, but when they put Sloane back in control in order to "keep an eye on him" I couldn't take it any more. One of these days I might revisit the series, or at least check out season five. But I won't be buying it, no matter how cheap.

I read a spoiler concerning that (dumb? Yes.), but I figgered last seasons are usually very good or very bad depending on the creative juices, and I read the last season was good (love DVD Verdict), so I went for it at that insane cheap price. So far, I'm likin' it. And if I don't by the end, I can sell it for $8 to a local CD store later, no real loss- cheaper than renting it at Blockbuster!

Another funny thing, way back when I watched the first season, Gina Torres showed up in it.
Now, in this fifth season out pops Amy Acker. And Drew Goddard as a producer/ writer.

Joss connections are everywhere!

STORYMARK

The first two seasons are far and away the best. The third is decent, but cracks start to show. The fourth season essentially tried to re-create the first two - but without many of the elements that made those seasons work, and betraying various character developments and motivations to varrying degrees. The fifth season tried to undo the damage of the fourth, and tie up some of the lingering plot threads, and partially succeeded, but it's still nowhere as engrossing or well-written as the first couple years.

And outrage? Nah. Pity. If you skipped 2-4, not only did you miss the best season of the show (2), you'll miss 90% of the story concerning one of the best characters on the show (Irina), not to mention a great deal of development with other characters and plotlines. But I've never been the type to read the first and last chapters of a book first, either.

Thanks, Story. If I end up loving the final season enough, I may put the effort into grabbing the first two at least. 4 eps into season 5 and not only am I nowhere near as confused as I conjured I might be, but I'm really enjoying the ride. I'm likin' it better than I remember liking the first, but as with season 7 of Buffy & the movie Serenity, endgames have always been my favourite stuff!

The fifth season was so cool, I decided I'm goin' for 1 & 2 as well.
Already picked up 1 ($12 unopened at a used CD place nearby!!!), after I finish that it's on to 2.
Jeeze, with Drew Goddard producing/ writing, Amy Acker & Gina Torres in it, it FELT almost like one of Joss' shows!

My favorite part in season one is the scene in the car garage when she finds out her dad is a spy...

backwards car chase while shooting out the window, " well honey, I have something to tell you... "

like that guy in almost every role I've seen him

was a shame " Justice " was cancelled.

I feel that 3 is definitely worth getting. It's a divisive season, though. Develops a love triangle that some hated, but I like it.

4... well.... I'm a completist, so I got it (actually, I got the bad-ass full series set that comes in the Rambaldi Cube - coolest DVD set I own, packaging wise), but it is a very weak season. They essentially try and re-create the dynamics of the first season in a new location, and add Nadia to the team. But it flies in the face of the character development to that point. And by network mandate, it's almost all stand-alone episodes, and Rambaldi was verboten all year (except the final 2-parter, if I recall).

Looks like I'm in for the long haul.

No Rambaldi Cube for me though, at this point it's cheaper to get 2, 3 & 4 used at FYE or Newberry.

Yeah, wouldn't make any sense for you to get the box. I only did because my little brother owned all the DVD sets, and when he got he own place, he had the nerve to take them with him!! And I got it half price (which still cost me $100 at the time, but oh well....).

It looks cool on my shelf, though.

Hey Chris,

Take it from another Alias fan, it's worth it to see it through. Although I agree with the consensus that Seasons 1,2 & 5 are better than 3 & 4.

Jennifer Garner and Victor Garber are top-notch here.

BYW Victor Garber shows up as the father of the teacher in GLEE. Great fun.

Yeah, the SD-6 story wraps up in one of the best episodes of the series. And the lead-up to it is great.

Oh, and what did you think of McKinnis Cole?

Holy crap, is season two blowing me away!!! I'm always gorram late to the party! Jack Bristow is such a cool character, just like Lydecker on Dark Angel, only given more scenes & time to breathe.
Colour me a retro-fan.
