I broke down and got the "screwhead" edition today, and WOW is the picture super-sharp! The new feature showing the crazy scope of the visual effects job is really good too.
This is a must-have addition, deadites!

Get your Ash out there pronto, today, chop chop!

Both. I just got the DVD- it looks as good as Blu to me (but then, I have a 26" screen).

I got the Boomstick edition long ago, and that's fine by me. AoD is one of the most often re-released DVDs ever, maybe surpassed only by the prior Evil Dead flicks.

I still think they ought to do a collectors edition with a pair of those underwear that fan made Bruce that say " this is my boomstick" across the crotch

I'd chalk it up to it being one of the few titles owned by that company that people actually want. There is no real reason there should be THAT many releases.

However, I might pick it up again if they ever release the Hong Kong cut of the film, which contains scenes not present in any other cut of the film (though they are included as deleted scenes on some releases).

I got an obscure Japanese release a LOOOONG time ago with all manner of extra footage- the theatrical cut is still my favourite.

I too prefer the theatrical, if only for the dialog.

But, I believe the HK cut keeps the fun dialog (Good/Ba/Guy with the gun) and the theatrical ending, but also inserts most of the extra scenes from the DC (excluding the Rip-Van-Winkle ending), as well as the deleted scenes which were only included in the SciFi channel cut - and all digitally remastered - thus avoiding the lousy picture quality in the additional stuff in the DC.

Me wants.

That sounds just like my Japanese version (Army Of Darkness The Medieval Dead). Alas, that one's on tape from a Japanese laserdisc.
My favourite addition: "Are doo me?- you sound like a JERK!"

ETA: I just did some searches- can't find it on DVD...

The HK one is region 3, and I still can't find it for sale... and it's listed as having the Rip ending.... I give up.

That's the one I got for christmas, have yet to watch it.

I drew the theatrical poster on an art site called 2draw not long ago. Very complex picture.

Just played a bit of my Japanese version- it looks great for videotape, I store my remaining few very well, it seems.
I'm gonna dump it on a DVD just for archival's sake.
If only it didn't have the gorram Japanese subtitles...
