Yes, Movie was good, but the show was even better.....hmmm seems like I've heard that before somewhere.....Spike is like a crazy amalgam of Mal and Jayne, now that I think of it.....

I've seen the show on "Adult Swim", I didn't know there was a movie. Wikipedia sez that FOX is making a live-action flick, COOL! I just hope they don't screw it up like they did with the remake of "The Day the Earth Stood Still".

Expired, forgotten, spoiled rotten.

Yep, the movie has an English dub and it's just as good as the TV show in my opinion.

I don't know about Spike being a combination of Mal and Jayne. Keep in mind, Bebop came out first, but if we're thinking about it, Jet is kind of a combination of Book and Jayne, what with an ex-cop turned mercenary. Spike just strikes me as too childlike and fun loving to be Mal or Jayne. Sure, Mal and Jayne have senses of humor, but they don't usually goof around in the middle of a fight. And Spike's tragic past is far more personal than anything we saw out of the Firefly boy's. Not that Mal didn't take losing the war personally. I just always associated Spike with more of a Tom Paris, Dash Rendar kind of a figure.

Eh, well, Mal actually does screw around in a fight, such as his Leeroy Jenkins at the start of the Message, and duck hunting in the pilot. But since the end of the war, a lot of the joy has gone out of Mal, so I'll give you that.

Jayne is usually serious in a fight though, he uses his size as an intimidation factor, and in a melee he has a very animal brute force fighting style.

I think the characters are all sufficiently different. Also, the themes of the shows are different, Cowboy Bebop seems to be a lot more about identity, and Firefly is more about government corruption.

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

The anime series is excellent, the movie is very good. One of the things better about the series is the music.

I know Keanu has been mentioned as a possibility to play Spike in the live action movie, but if so I hope it gets stuck in Development Hell forever.

Here's my suggestions for a cast:
Spike Spiegel - Lucas Black
Jet Black - Adam Baldwin
Faye Valentine - Adrianne Palicki
Ed - Chloe Moretz

The last one will change depending on how long it takes to get the production off the ground.
