A release date for the Babylon 5 T.V. movies has been set for August 17th. This will include all the T.V. movies except for Legend of the Rangers. Wich JMS has said will be released on it's own at some point in the future.

BWAAAAAA!!!

What is it with that movie?!? First it never came to Canada, now it's getting (BOOK)"special"(/BOOK) treatment for the DVD release.

It is like some Necronomicon-like work of insane genius that destroys the sanity of anyone who sees it?

Re: Cybersnark

Oooorrr.... it was under completely separate circumstances than the others. Possibly even separate contracts and such.

Patience. That we're getting a movie set at all (as well as the already released TV sets) is still shocking to me for how under the radar the series flew.

Probably right on LOTR (the other one), but I'm still itching to see it as it never made the UK either.

It sounds as though WB have been shocked by how well the DVDs have done - sounds like we could be watching the cogs slowly whirring in the networks whereby they realise a smallish, but loyal, fanbase may allow a show to make profit - Farscape, then Family Guy, then Firefly and B5 due that announcement soon hopefully.

Just saw the box set cover - fits nice and pretty like with the seasons boxsets. Looks like I'll be investing in my third copy of The Gathering and In The Beginning having bought those two separately already on DVD and video (I kind of wish they would have the original cut on there as well for a compare and contrast - though I presume paying for Copeland's music track might be expensive just as a curio, depending on how the deal with him worked).

Someone told me or wrote -- I can't remember -- that WB earned $70 million from B5 DVD sales. And it makes sense. Checking Amazon.com, the fifth season is priced at $100 US new, $75 on discount. Take a modest 100,000 copies a season over five seasons. Plus add in the TV movie releases and subsidiary releases and, yup, pretty close to $70 mil. No wonder WB wants to continue making more money from its B5 franchise.

I know JMS has said they are more than pleased with the sales - would love to know an exact figure - anything in the region of 100,000 sales for each set might even make them think about following Serenity to the 2:35:1
