You see, despite the fact that I have seen many of Russel's projects in the past (Queer as Folk, Dark Season) and can definitely say that Who is firmly in his style, I do sometimes think - this is what Dr Who would be like if Joss Whedon wrote it. I suspect that they are very similar in many ways - style, outlook, political leanings etc. and this shows in the writing.
