THX-1138 is...

the first telephone number George Lucas had.

Useless geek trivia for the day.

The number Mark Hamill yells out in the garbage masher to C3PO in Star Wars was Carrie Fisher's home phone.
She hadda have it changed once the film opened.

How useless is THAT trivia?

Well Harrison Ford actually says that code during the rescue scene when he's talking to the official over the speaker.

More useless trivia brought to you by Death Soap, now you too can have your own Death Star in soap form.

915.

You DO realize this was my FIRST phone number, right? Like, when I was 5 and we just moved to San Angelo from Taiwan?

But do feel free to call. I wonder who's got that number now!

I had never heard that.. I did know that it was the main character (played by Robert Duvall) in the movie of the same name (which was Lucas' first full length feature film).

This is actually my favorite Lucas film... nowadays!
Of course, I was only 8 when my Dad took me to see it, and I didn't understand it at all, but I loved the tunnel scenes at the end.
When Lucas came out with his 2-disc Director's Cut DVD, I gave it a revisit... and my jaw was on the floor pretty much the whole time!

Oh, I totally agree!* Lucas should've included a cleaned-up version of the original theatrical release, like Cameron did with The Abyss: Special Edition, and Ridley Scott did with the A L I E N: Director's Cut and Blade Runner: Final Cut deluxe DVD sets.
(I still love how Ridley says in his introduction and commentary on the ALIEN DC that he considers his original cut to be perfect, so that was really his "director's cut".)

How loud did the fans have to scream to get a DVD of SW:ANH where Han shot first?

* DVD Verdict is my favorite review site! Their dossier on Firefly is the one I always refer potential new Browncoat recruits to.

But do you agree that the theatrical release conveys the message of the film better? That Lucas has become part of the problem he'd envisioned?
Regardless, I want that DVD.
I love the car (Porsche, I believe-?).

Great movie, but has ANYONE done a movie that predicts a future of FREEDOM?

Or does Hollywood only hire employees who do predictive programming for the Police State?

Does that help explain the lack of protest against the current Police State?

I mean, Amerikans now submit to pedophile RAPEscanners at airports, and worse.

Nah - that's just racing! Toad Hall DOES kit out some very nice vintage race cars, though. And that particular car still wears the name of the great John Surtees, who is the only driver to ever win World Championships on both two AND four wheels. That name on the car (it was one of the many that he actually raced and won in), AND his own signature above it (he signed it in Sharpie marker a couple years ago) make it worth quite a bit as a piece of rolling history.

Oh, about 60 years of Star Trek comes to mind, amongst others.

Of the racing cars of that era (late 60s to around '72 or so), the Porsche 917 has always been one of my favorites:

and of course the Ford GT40:

But I'd take a Lola T70, if I just had to. :)
