Yep. Started shooting a while back, probably close to done now. It'll also feature Willem DaFoe, Mark Strong and Thomas Haden Church. It is essentially the first live-action(ish) Pixar film (though it's not officially under the Pixar banner, most of the production team is from there).

I'm jazzed.... but slightly wary, as the two leads were both, in my opinion, pretty weak in Wolverine.

I blame the production.

I do too, to a degree. The movie sucked overall, but I felt there were decent performances in there.... just not from them.

I remember reading the novels in elementary school

those and Conan the Barbarian...

really wanted to take a sword to school and settle a few things the Conan way in those days

Cool pic.

Anyone see the recent Princess of Mars DTV movie? With Antonio Sobato Jr. as Carter and Traci Lords as Deja? Deeply, deeply horrible.

I rejected that knowledge; why must you remind me??
The COVER was enough to kill for.

BIGRICHARD

thought I should point out that it's being directed by Andrew Stanton (Wall-E) and is being written by him and Michael Chabon, a novelist, whose credits include the Wonder Boys novel and The Adventures of Kavalier and Clay. He's won a Pulitzer, a Hugo, a Nebula, etc etc.

It also stars, along with the people previously mentioned, Bryan Cranston, Dominic West, James Purefoy, Samantha Morton, and Polly Walker.

I'm not afraid to admit it. I'm damn excited for this. I frickin loved Wall-E.

OH! AND! The score will be composed by the great Michael Giacchino, of Lost, Up and Star Trek fame.

Why didn't someone mention those cast members FIRST?! That's a pretty remarkable cast, I'd say. Hell, now *I'M* getting excited about this!

Yeah, looking down the cast list some more, I see more and more of the cast of "Rome" in there. Does BBC or HBO have anything to do with this project? CiarĂ¡n Hinds, James Purefoy, Polly Walker, and others. Might be quite a ride indeed.

Glad I could be of some assistance!
I've yet to read the novel, but all the talent involved is just amazing.

GEEZER

Keep the Shiny side up

Okay. I started reading SciFi/Fantasy with Burroughs. I'm gonna be hopeful.

The character list on IMDB might indicate they'll stick pretty close to the Burroughs story, since all the important folk from the book are in there. Michael Chabon being involved in the writing will mean an interesting story, if The Yiddish Policemen's Union is any indication. Now if they'll take a cue from the Franzetta illustrations for the art direction.

Might like to have seen Josh Duhamel as John Carter, as mentioned on IMDB.

Be interesting to see how they realize the green Martians - 12+ feet tall with four arms, tusks, and wide-set eyes.
