Why would imdb still not list him? Even though he had no clear individual lines that I could determine, so much time on screen as the Bridge Officer would seem to alow inclusion as "uncredited" - would it not? It's been out a while on DVD now.

Though I'd never have noticed it myself, I believe your point to be valid.

The reason is pretty simple - it's not Kal Penn.

That would explain much.

His twin brother? Who do you think it is?

It's John Cho, Harold from Harold and Kumar

John Cho plays Sulu and has many spoken lines.
I'm not sure who this bridge officer is that you're talking about without seeing a pic or rewatching the film again.

Having watched it many times, I've never spotted him in the movie.

And even if it is him, it's not unheard of to leave little cameos like that uncredited. I don't think Bryan Singer's cameo in Nemesis is credited. For that matter, neither is Will Weaton's voice work in this Trek.

You are correct, Cho plays Sulu, quite obviuosly and credited as such.
Kal Penn, or his twin, is a Bridge member, I was assuming an Officer, blue uniform, in most of the Bridge scenes from the time Kirk first comes on the Bridge, until the last scenes, I think after his relieving Pike of Command. In those last scenes the position is filled with a woman also in blue uniform. The position is standing behind the console, to the right hand side of the Captain's Command Console (The Chair). It is to our left of the Captian's Chair as we are viewing it. It often blocks our view of the Communications Console, where Uhura is, when our point of view is the center display screen, so the camera must move around for us to see Uhura at that console.
I think that in STTNG it would have been the Security Officer's Console, where Yar of Worf where.
I was thinking that if Cho and Penn finnagled this, Penn wouldn't need to remember any lines, and could just walk on set for a few days, and maybe many of these Bridge scenes were shot in only a few days of the shooting schedule.

Anyhow, imdb has been quite good at filling in these uncredited actors and roles. I was wondering why it has not done so yet, having much time to do so, and I'd assume geeks galore at imdb would have watched ST a few times by now.

I was fair certain I'd seen some credit given Will Wheaton on this Trek, not sure where or what for, or maybe if it was on imdb instead of the film credits - but I had thought it was someplace in the film credit roll.

Just checked around on several sites - you're not the first person to think that was Penn, but it wasn't. Just a guy who does look a fair bit like him. Penn was working in Washington when Trek was filmed.

Some screen caps:

Looks a lot like him, to be sure, but it's not (though he did show up once on Voyager).

I cannot see those, but the freeze frames I did seemed fairly clear,
ST filming was Nov 2007 to Mar 2008, and he interrupted his film carreer starting Feb 6, 2008. I don't see where that precludes his work between the two.

From the above posts and some research done by myself Kal Penn is an actor who was half of the duo Harold and Kumar in a couple of films, John Cho playing Harold to Kal Penn as Kumar.
John Cho is in Star Trek hence the link to people believing that Kal Penn has a cameo.

The above post is correct.
I can view the links to the photobucket shots now. The correct character has been frozen in those shots. However, there is great distortion, Chirs Pine does not look remotely recognizable, nor Zoe Saldana in the second pic.
When I froze my meager 32inch, he was quite clearly the twin of Kal.
I would be interested to hear that he actually has a name other than Kal.

Other than being a bit blurry, I don't see any distortion. Looks like Pine and Saldana to me. Pine is capped mid-shout, so he looks a bit off, but it's still easily recognizable.

It aint Kal. Accept and move on.
