There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

Ed Bryant has primarily been a short story writer, anthologized in many books, including Again, Dangerous Visions, Terry Carr's Best of the Year and Universe volumes, as well as collections of all his own work. One of the few novels he wrote was a collaboration with Harlan Ellison, Phoenix Without Ashes, based on Ellison's pilot script for the television show "The Starlost." Other than that, probably his best known work is Cinnabar, which is a collection of linked stories involving a fantastical city. In my opinion, his best overall collection is Particle Theory, which includes the Nebula nominated title story as well as other nominees "The Thermals of August" and "Strata," along with the Nebula winners "Stone" and "giANTS." I have just ordered those titles even though I already have them in paperback. I'm buying these at full price, and I may eventually buy all that they offer even though I could request a free review copy.

Ed has apparently had medical problems recently, amassing huge bills, and ReAnimus Press is trying to do something to help him out. The titles they are offering are not available yet, but they say the first quarter of the new year is the target for availability. But if you go ahead and pre-order now they say the funds will make it to him right away. The email I received said they are donating most of the monies to him as opposed to their usual commission. Harlan Ellison is donating his share of the proceeds from Phoenix to Ed. Also, they say they will be releasing all of his work but so far on their site they have just nine titles, but it is possible that others will be added in the near future, or maybe the ones they have duplicate stories that are also in other collections that are listed at fantasticfiction.co.uk.

Please note that the e-books from ReAnimus can be purchased for either Kindle or Nook (or both for just one price), and I think also the Sony e-Reader and maybe apps for Android and other devices, but if you have any questions about that just click the "Contact" link at the top right corner of their site. Oh, and the above link that lists the Bryant titles they are offering does not include my associate account tag, so I won't be getting a commission for these either.

I snagged it this morning and have read the introductions and prologue. I had forgotten that this book was written solely by Bryant, with Ellison credited just because the novel is based on his original pilot script for "The Starlost," which was heavily rewritten for the version actually produced.
