Curious...

“We must abolish the cult of the individual decisively, once and for all.” - Nikita Khrushchev

So, being a INDIVIDUAL is a liberal mindset, is it ? So says Mussolini. So why then, are all these LIBERALS so hell bent on destroying the concept of the individual ?

Ayn Rand sums it up quite nicely ... “The smallest minority on earth is the individual. Those who deny individual rights cannot claim to be defenders of minorities.”

So because you saw the word "collective" used, you immediately rejected the content of what they were saying (you can't face the causes and consequences of climate change individually but only as a global society) and went straight for Communism and Fascism instead?

There is a LOT of wiggle room between complete individualism and complete, de-individualized conformity. Why go for the utter extreme when you could just look at what they meant in this individual statement?

Marco Rubio summed up Reaganism quite nicely in his SOTU "rebuttal": I got mine, and fuck you. He's glad he had the collectivist student loan program to get through school, but fuck you if you ever want or need help from the government. He's great with his mom sucking off the government tit, but fuck you if you think you deserve a penny of that Social Security money you've been paying into for the last 50 years.

Yeah, that kind of "individualism" *IS* psychotic. As is the modern conservative movement. And, like another kind of "movement", this is one that should be flushed immediately.

The ones going to the utter extreme are those on the Left. The Founding Fathers were well aware that govt was a necessary evil, but warned of it getting too big. As it clearly has become.

Hey Mr. Auraptor,

He was talking about GLOBAL Warming. That means that everybody in the world will be affected, not just the US. Do you think that if we just close our eyes that we, as a nation, will not be affected by the results?

Do you think we will solely survive climate change while the rest of the world goes down in flames? Will America separate from the rest of the world and somehow float safely on the rising oceans? And what does Mussolini have to do with it?

Everyone in the industrial nations must come together to at least nullify the effects of climate change, or we will suffer along with the rest of the WORLD.

Consider the water bottle................

Now, how does Mussolini fit into that. Go ahead, make the connection.

The oceans rise and fall, through out the millennia. Always have. Climate change does occur, and will always occur, but there's nothing man can do to stop it.

This issue has nothing to do w/ Climate change. Mussolini was talking about the need to basically enslave everyone into the mindset that what's good for the State is all that really matters. That point of view runs counter to the very idea of what the Founders of this country had in mind.

Quote:

Everyone in the industrial nations must come together to at least nullify the effects of climate change, or we will suffer along with the rest of the WORLD.

Do we need to do more to clean up this planet ? Yep. Is there anything we can do to " nullify " climate change? No way in hell. Nor should we even try.

But since you're so hell bent on making this about climate change ( credit the propaganda machine which has you seeing this as any sort of an issue at all, instead of the bigger point, of govt power gone amok ) Remember what Hugo Chavez said, at where?

A 'climate control' conference.

Quoting Karl Marx , for starters. You ask me what it has to do w/ climate change?

Ask Hugo Chavez the same question. It has NOTHING to do w/ climate change. It has to do w/ massive, big govt control, and abolishing the rights of the individual.

So you just chose to leave out all those other parts in your initial rant, right? You decided to focus on the quote about climate change, and then you're made because people took you at your word and discussed climate change as a problem bigger than any one individual, and now you're shitting your diaper about that. Oooookay. I really didn't know this sort of revisionist history angle was even a thing. Like, a serious thing. Honestly baffled.

Is this where you put Stalin and Hitler and Mussolini and Franco and every other dictator firmly in the left wing corner to "prove" that all left thought is evil and nothing bad could ever arise from the political right? Is that the angle? I mean, do you honestly think that the further right you go nothing bad could lurk at the extreme end? That the political spectrum is a one-direction line from good to evil? That all totalitarian oppression could only arise from one corner only? What about theocratic oppression, is that also born from extreme left-wing socialism? What?

So who's given credible evidence for that theory, then? And why, oh why, did Hitler so brutally act against his socialist brethren if they all wanted the same thing?

This nation was built by individuals. At times they VOLUNTARILY joined together on ships or wagon trains to set out for the unknown. At other times they set out alone, intent on facing and conquering whatever they encountered on their way to making a new life for themselves. However they chose to do it they had one thing in common. They were escaping the all encompassing gaze of government, who they viewed as an impediment, not a help.

Well, except for that time that they all banded together to win their freedom from England, and then took the added pains of writing down in a very specific document all the rules that bound them all together from them on.

Or did you think that each of the thirteen colonies decided to fight the British Empire all on its own?

That's because certain folks here are too afraid to discuss the issue, being so in love with and beholden to the concept of big govt, and nanny state policies.

And as usual, you felt you just had to pop off about something you know nothing about, and then accuse others of saying stuff simply to hear themselves.

Widely regarded as 'right wing' ideology , by extreme, hard core LEFT WINGER propagandists, who want to distort the facts. Sure.

Fascism is all about the Left wing, big govt control over the individual, which is exactly the opposite for what the freedom loving, TEA Party types stand.

But keep trying. After nearly a decade, proving that you're no closer to getting it, does't mean you'll never get a clue.

If only fringe left-wing propaganda supports the idea that fascism is born of the radical right-wing, it should be easy for you to find citations from numerous respected, neutral historical sources to support your opinion? Or, really, any neutral and respected source?

Unless you mean to imply that the general body of historical research is left-wing propaganda and only a small, brave enclave of a privileged few know the "real truth"? I mean, I know I generally consult the Oxford dictionary as my preferred piece of fringe communist propaganda, but I didn't know that the righteous and just were aware of just how radical that basic dictionary was. Geez, you guys are good.

Most of the universities are dominated by big govt, far Left wingers, so anything they don't like or want the public to loathe is going to be painted as " right wing " .

But big govt is ALWAYS a left wing ideology, no matter what guise it takes. It runs counter to what the founders of this country had in mind, assuming anyone actually teaches real US history any more.

I'm guessing that's not too often the case these days.

I never typed in 'absolute monarchy'. Re-read what I posted.

Govt is a necessary evil, It should exist, but not be given too much power. The US Constitution was pretty clear on that matter.

It's not that complicated.

I'm as conservative as you can get, but I've never once thought of liberals as being Nazis or any other type of fascists, and whether any of them have thought that of us is irrelevant. They have their views, and we have ours; all proud parts of the political and cultural debate. The cornerstone of representative democracy in America is the vote, and it's proven itself as the best remedy to any perceived tyranny for 230 years.

Why should I deny something which has no basis in reality ?

Denying it would imply that I was loony in the first place.

First we have to accept the fact that we do live in a civil society. There's too much personal sensitivity about almost everything these days. A person's perceived rights aren't always necessarily valid, but if they truly are, then he must seek judicial remedy through the courts. Big issues can lead to protests and political movements. These actions influence public opinion which may or may not manifest itself in the outcome of next vote. No matter what happens, there's always another election around the corner. That's the great thing about democracy...you can't always win.

I find it amazingly ironic that you would still support the invasion and occupation of Iraq. What would you have said in 2003 to any Iraqi voicing just such an opinion as you've stated here?

It only took you a decade to figure that out.

I have to say, little rappy is a flagrant display of lack of facts and illogic in this thread. I would go through it all but that would take too much time - and certainly not do him any good. Yanno, the whole thing about FACTS actually causing people like him to burrow deeper into the warm shit of their ideology instead of coming into the light of mental clarity.

I do want to point out one of his howlers, though.

He clearly doesn't know what the phrase "cult of the individual" means. Now, a simple Google search could have given him context, which of course he failed to do. Apparently, like with Geezer and Wulfie, the inability to learn to use Google is part and parcel of the mindset.

'Cult of the individual' is a translation from Russian. In the speech given it refers to the worship of a single hero, the assumption that a single 'fearless leader' is responsible for the arc of human history. For example, here are two quotes from the speech ...

"... everything making for superstitious worship of authority would be deleted from its statute (of Marxism) ..."

"... While ascribing great importance to the role of the leaders and organizers of the masses, Lenin at the same time mercilessly stigmatized every manifestation of the cult of the individual, inexorably combated the foreign-to-Marxism views about a "hero" and a "crowd" and countered all efforts to oppose a "hero" to the masses and to the people."

In other words, it's not about individual-ISM, it's about worshiping a single individual as paramount above all others.

A better translation would have been 'cult of AN individual', or, as has been re-expressed 'cult of personality'.

But hey, I hope he keeps it up, b/c frankly, he was warned years ago that the path of being an ideologue is a path to insanity - and it amuses me to see him resolutely marching along it. I hope to see more examples of his devolving mentation in the future.

Nice spin, ikiki. If that what you have to tell yourself, by all means...

How curious that you blindly buy into the propaganda they shovel, as a means for why the commies did what they did, en route to murdering millions of INDIVIDUALS who didn't buy into the collectivist ideals.

Pity their slaughter didn't teach you anything.

Yes, why should you actually READ WHAT WAS SAID in order to know the actual words - when you can just make shit up on your own? Or in this case, parrot it from a website that's nearly as ignorant as you are - b/c frankly, you don't have the brains to think this crap up.

BTW - nowhere did I claim that what they said was true, just that it's what they, yanno, actually said.

But far be it from me to try to educate you. You're too amusing as you are. Carry on little parrot.

Indeed, though I see it slightly differently. This thread is just further proof that the Rap exists for no other purpose but to illustrate the preposterous stupidity of the modern neocon Right. His posts paint a vivid, detailed picture of the utter nonsense of Teabag/Koch/Faux/Rush/etc for those of us who would otherwise never experience it firsthand. It's close to brilliant, how he brings the Word of the Ridiculous Right to the masses. It's just a shame that he's too much of a stereotype to be quite believed.

Anyhow, thanks again Rappy (or the hand in the sock, as the case may be) for doing such a fine job of making the rest of us look good. No one could do it the way you do.

Carry on.
