A movie (I assume a book first ) and now a t.v. series?

What am I missing? A super long train that goes around and around in a dystopian world that's nuclear winter cold? How is this a thing? Seriously, the idea of a ' Super Train ' was a joke in the 70's. It's a freaking 19th century technology, so why and how is it a symbol for future sci-fi ?

It clearly wasn't made for me.

The movie was decent. I'm willing to give the series a shot. It's definitely a story that you have can't think about too much. The basic idea is the world got super cold and this train engine can run forever and keep everybody warm. So, they're just going around the world over and over again as an excuse to keep the engine running and keeping them alive. Now why they'd have to keep the train in motion to run the engine is beyond me. Apparently there's no "idle" setting. You also can't think too much about how awkward it would be to have everybody moving from car to car of this train. I think it would serve them well in the TV show to establish that there are multiple levels. That way people could pass over or under each other without constantly having to cross paths.

Anyway it's more about thinking how society could continue in such a restricted situation. Of course the answer is "it couldn't". However, we're supposed to ignore obvious issues and think about "what if".

What if? Give me “the Martian“. A bunch of people on a freaking train? I don’t get it.

I mean the train thing is pretty easy to handle in my mind. The world went to hell and this train with it's revolutionary engine just happened to be there at the right time. Since it's the only thing with heat a bunch of people got on and they're the last survivors (that we know of).

I'm sure the writer chose that setting just to force the characters into close quarters and a lot of added tension.

Even space ships feel more open than being stuck on a train.

Do people not understand what it takes to keep a train on its tracks? And what it takes to keep those tracks clear of debris? Landslides, snow drifts, washouts... it's an absolutely asinine concept! A train that perpetually keeps going around and around... The Last Ship sorta kinda makes sense, but a train? Hard pass.

You have to have some ability to suspend disbelief if you're going to enjoy watching anything bud.

If it's not a woke cringe fest and the characters don't do stupid shit that nobody would ever do in real life under those circumstances, the circumstances themselves don't really matter all that much.

I mean, The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe was an enjoyable read for me back in High School. I'm 40 years old now and I've never met anybody who has or who knew anybody else who had a wardrobe in their house that was a portal to Narnia.

I am a fan of a 400 ft tall kaiju that fires atomic breath, Police call boxes that travel in space / time and space hookers 500 years in the future.

But trains that encase class warfare struggles and never need any outside maintenance … not made for me, I guess.

I'd never see it myself. I certainly wasn't defending it. I never even knew about it until this thread.

So... speaking of movies made for me...

Who's else is excited about Bit?

Yeah. I see that too.

https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/bit

Wonder why a bunch of woke critics are talking about this dumpster fire now? But I do see a bunch of them also commenting on it last year.

TheQuartering just had a new video on it today and said it was a new movie.

the-numbers.com says that it's "(Announced)".

But come on man.... You're not excited???!!!

Check out this review:

Nicole Maines delivers a commanding presence in Bit as the film becomes the queer feminist vampire movie that we've been needing for so long.

Needing it! NEEDING IT!!! I NEED THIS!!!!

Personally, I think a Feminist Zombie flick would be a more appropriate representation of the source material, but this could be one of the most hilariously bad movies we've seen since Troll II.

The director is a whore too and admitted it in an interview from last year...

So, Brad, why an intersectional feminist vampire story?
I’d done two movies that had a very somber tone, and I wanted to do something fun. I also knew that genre would get financing, because at 30-something years old, I want a movie, damn it! I needed to prove I could get one of these through. No more little writing gigs that my name doesn’t show up on or anything like that. I needed this.

lol...

The title for this article is priceless.

The Unlikely Story Behind the Year’s Best Intersectional Feminist Vampire Movie

A lot of those made in 2019 then, were there?

Actually, after some review, I see some comedic potential in such a movie. Think of the all girl gang ' The Lizzies ', from the movie The Warriors . But they're vampires.
