Just happened across this title yesterday in the sci-fi dvd bin and have to admit I had a similar reaction to it as I did when I saw the Firefly DVD for the first time, "I don't recognize any of the actors and I've never heard of the show..." (Ok, I recognized AB and AT and GT and RG and I'd seen Private Ryan... but I'd never heard of them in this show...)
Anyone here ever seen any eps? 2 reviews at Amazon interestingly enough say, "Basically it's like watching a slightly less interesting Firefly with British accents. If you like B5 and Firefly, this is a good addition to that genre drawer (fellow DVD compulsives)."
And: "in some ways it kind of reminds me of Blake's 7 & Firefly."
Anyone with firsthand knowledge?

Starhunter plays some days on the Space network, and it really really sucks. You cannot compare it to Firefly, unless you say "Firefly demolishes Starhunter and all it stands for 20 times over."

I completely agree, it both sucks and blows at the same time. Just has that really really cheesy sci-fi feel to it

I couldn't help myself what with 2934 bazillion days until the BDM - and I went out and bought the StarHunter box set (got a good deal from a guy near a dumpster behind a local Target, I think his name was Bill). So far I completely agree with the 2 posts above. Actors going through the motions hoping for their next REAL gig - guess I can't blame them after seeing this... so far. I'll press on and give the show the benefit of my time and money - it ain't no Firefly! (Not that I was thinking it would be).
Next question - any one seen Crusade? When you search for StarHunter at Amazon they try to lure you into buying Crusade as well (cunning, evil capitalists that they are), and some of the reviews have a familiar ring, "And second, the show was not canceled because of anything to do with the music or waning fan interest. It was murdered by, as another reviewer said, brainless tv execs."
Ouch - we know that story all too well, eh?

GUNRUNNER

Ah I remember Star Hunter. It started showing in my area the same night as Firefly an hour latter. (There might be a few seconds of it on my old Firefly VHS before or after Bushwhacked because I taped over it). It hung in there for 3 or so seasons on UPN and then vanished.

Watched it a few dozen times, liked the bounty hunter concept, but didn't miss it when it left UPN.

CYBERSNARK

Starhunter wishes it was Cowboy Bebop, let alone Firefly.

Crusade OTOH rocks. It's by JMS, whom I think of almost as highly as Joss (JMS is high-concept, while Joss is more about personality). Plus, it has Galen, one of the most fun characters in the Bab5 universe. He's like Jean-Luc Picard crossed with Wesley Wyndham-Pryce.
