Probably already been asked a million times, but it'd be interesting to see the different backgrounds we all have.

I'm an editorial assistant, what about you?

When I think of an interesting signature you'll be the first to know.

LADYSINGS

Currently laid off at the moment but I just heard word on Friday that I am being called back to my old position. The hospital that I work/worked/working for laid me off because of health reasons. (Yes, I know that is illegal but they [or should I say "she" because it was actually the director of my department] found a loophole) I have been laid off for four months. But, I am happy to say that the "higher-ups" forced her to take me back because the department has gone to Hell in a handbasket since I left. (Don't you just love Karma?!?!)

Anyways, my official title is Control Clerk in the hospital's Professional Billing department. I know, I HATE that title! Everyone always asks me, "Are you a control freak?" I always like to reply with Joss' line, "No, I am a control enthusiast."

To explain what a Control Clerk is....it's basically a jack-of-all-trades. I maintain our billing software database and am the unofficial computer guru of our department.

I'm a therapist in a children's mental health program in West Virginia -- the state with the highest rate of child maltreatment deaths in the U.S. Author proceeds from the sale of my first science fiction novel are donated to prevent child abuse. I can't afford to advertise, but I have had some success through pro bono contributions, including two book reviews. Please see the following links. So, I guess I'm a writer too.

Robert Eggleton

www.fatcatpress.com - the publisher, click on the book cover for a sample and to order

www.wingspanquarterly.com -- a satirical essay about its promotion, click on the cover, then my name

Most recent mention

www.specficworld.com/books/index.html -- a site that gave me free advertising for a year

www.baryon-online.com/baryon103/rarho.html -- 1st professional review, by a famous science fiction reviewer

http://www.missourireview.com/tmr-blog/?p=310 -- most recent review by the editor of a major book review firm

http://katlynstewart.com/author.htm -- 1st free advertising on a child abuse survivor site

There have been other contributors that were not mentioned above so as to eliminate redundancy of content.

Actually, some Chinese railroads ran steam in regular service until about a year ago. Branch lines and industries are still using some that were built in the late '80s. (The fanfic lightbulb went on when I randomly correlated Chinese steam ops with the cultural blend of Firefly. )

Here in the States, there are about 150 operating steam engines run mostly as tourist attractions. The one I work on is 81 years old and still runnin' like a champ.
