Russia suspends flights to Georgia amid unrest

President Vladimir Putin has temporarily banned Russian airlines from flying to Georgia following a spate of violent unrest in the country.

He signed the decree - which will be implemented from 8 July - on Friday.
It came after some 240 people were hurt a day earlier in protests that were ignited by the appearance of a Russian MP in Georgia's parliament.

Ex-Ecuadorian president confirms Assange meddled in US election from London embassy

The report cited hundreds of surveillance documents detailing Assange's time inside the embassy. The documents describe how Assange met with Russians and world-class hackers at critical moments and acquired powerful new computing and network hardware to facilitate data transfers just weeks before WikiLeaks received hacked materials from Russian operatives.

Big yawn. Seriously. This is pre-event propaganda to soften us up for the persecution of Assange by the US.

Met police examine Vladimir Putin's role in Salisbury attack

Scotland Yard has examined the role of the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, in the novichok nerve agent attack in Salisbury, it has been revealed. Putin is assessed by UK intelligence agencies as having been “likely” to have approved of the attack in March 2018 on Sergei Skripal, a former Russian military officer, and his daughter, both of whom were left seriously ill but survived.

Russia demands Google stop advertising 'illegal' protests on YouTube

Russia is intensifying its pressure on Google to censor political dissent in the country. Media overseer Roskomnadzor has sent a letter to Google insisting that it stop promoting "illegal mass events" on YouTube. It didn't like that YouTube channels were using push notifications and other measures to spread information about protests, such as the recent demonstrations objecting to Moscow banning some opposition politicians from running in upcoming elections. Some users are allegedly receiving these alerts even if they're not subscribed to the channels.

The company won't have much choice but to respond. The Russian agency said it would treat continued promotion as "interference in the sovereign affairs" of the country and consider Google a "hostile influence" ostensibly bent on obstructing elections. Officials would have the "right to an adequate reaction," Roskomnadzor said.

Fallout from Russia's mysterious missile disaster suggests a nuclear reactor blew up

A mysterious explosion at a Russian weapons testing site earlier this month released various radioactive isotopes, creating a cloud of radioactive gases that swept across a nearby town, the country's state weather agency revealed Monday, and experts said the mixture removes all doubt about what exactly blew up earlier this month.

"These are fission products," Joshua Pollack, a leading expert on nuclear and missile proliferation, told Insider. "If anyone still doubts that a nuclear reactor was involved in this incident, this report should go a long way toward resolving that."

Putin says Russia's building an unstoppable nuclear-powered missile — it's probably just a really 'bad idea'

Russia claims to be developing an unstoppable nuclear-powered cruise missile, a weapon with roots in technology the US considered too expensive, too complicated, too dangerous, and too unnecessary to pursue.

"A nuclear-powered cruise missile is an outrageous idea, one the United States long ago considered and rejected as a technical, strategic, and environmental nightmare,"

Pike, who is deeply skeptical of Russia's claims, characterized a nuclear-powered cruise missile as "an act of desperation."

Russians demand free elections in Moscow, defying protest ban

MOSCOW (Reuters) - A few thousand Russians took to the streets of central Moscow on Saturday to demand free elections to the capital's city legislature on Sept. 8, defying a ban which has been enforced with violent detentions during previous protests.

Weeks of demonstrations over elections for the city legislature have turned into the biggest sustained protest movement in Russia since 2011-2013, when protesters took to the streets against perceived electoral fraud.

Chanting "Russia will be free!" and "This is our city!", protesters marched through one of Moscow's thoroughfares. Reuters witnesses estimated their number at a few thousand, while Moscow police said only 750 attended the event, which has not been sanctioned by the government, making it illegal.

A scientific sample of Putin's recent explosive diarrhea proves that Putin eats his Trump Steaks with ketchup, just like the US President likes to eat his.

It is unclear at this time whether it was Trump or Putin who influenced the other first with this odd culinary choice, but sources close to the President say they often meet to dine on overpriced steaks slathered in ketchup during secret meetings while discussing the merits of firing nukes at hurricanes.

If true, this is not only the proof of collusion the Democrats have been looking for to finally get the impeachment proceedings into full swing, but it also shows that neither Trump nor Putin have good taste.

It's a mess for Putin because when Trump is gone payback is coming. That said, Putin doesn't have the budget to fill Americas shoes. His entire budget comes from oil and it's the size of Italy's. Not enough to do more than bluff.

What will come out of this is a renewed effort to straighten NATO. All Trump succeeded in doing was to point out weakness that exposed it attack. They will cut the fat and excommunicate the bad actors. This will happen as we fix the holes in the rule of law in this country that let Trump be Trump.
