I've just got to say how proud I am that today the whole world will be watching what we do best......Pomp and Ceremony in it's full regalia.
It's the Brits showing the world what our history and tradition means to us and we put it on show for the world to ogle at.
Congrats to Prince William and Princess Katherine for theirs and our special day.

John

Your sources lack, like, any kind of credibility.

I was reading about Will and Kate, and they seemed like the sort of progressives that you would never be able to elect in a democracy. Of course there's a class panic over the whole commoner thing, but they're keeping mum about it because they know who rules.

Anyway, congratulations to them, and many little princes and princesses to dominate the globe.

I suspect the Queen will abdicate at some point. Consider that she inherited a throne that ruled an empire, and now she holds a chair that doesn't even rule one state of Britain. I suppose she should pass it on while there's still a Britain.

Yeah, RionaEire. Whole street had a party in the back alley(we back onto a big empty field).Lots of booze and grub and watched the wedding on a projector screen.
I love days like this. It's WHY we have a Monarchy.Where else in the world do you get a whole nation brought together to celebrate two people tying the knot?
Where else in the world do you get such pageantry on such a structured and lavish scale.
No matter how much dissenters may slag it off, undermine it, steep it in socio-political argument or simply just not like Her Maj, you can't argue with what you saw today.
It is occasions such as these that ALL of us SUBJECTS can come together collectively and celebrate BRITISHNESS. Not as Imperialist bigots with overhyped opinions of ourselves. But as proud folk who appreciate the history and traditions, with all their successes and failures, and shout to the rest of the world, "You may not like us, we aren't the power that we once were, but on days like this, we have the worlds attention.
Today is what the Monarchy is FOR.It is our stability, our heritage and our National Identity and I would fight to the death to keep Republicans from our door.
It is days like this that people around the globe UNDERSTAND why we keep our monarchy and today I stand a proud Brit.

Pfft. Anyone with the most basic knowledge of genetics should know that stirring up that royal gene pool a little bit is a fantastic idea. Seems like it's been a longstanding obsession, but 'common' blood has made it into the royal family periodically for hundreds of years. Good thing, too, or they might have problems beyond male-pattern-baldness to be dealing with by now. The genetic outcome has never been bad, and for crying out loud it's the 21st century. Anyone who actually has a problem with it should be ashamed of themselves. I say good for William for refusing to bow to such ridiculous and archaic standards of who he should marry.

Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

I didn’t watch, but have seen clips. It would have been far too long for me to watch---I did tune in a couple of times, but aside from some glorious music by some absolutely GORGEOUS little boys and men, it didn’t interest me.

I’ve heard that 80% of Brits weren’t interested---which seems belied by the crowds!--and that many are angry that $2 million was spent on it--which is kind of a fair complaint. All in all I just accept that’s the way it is and to be expected, and it’s kind of nice to have some royalty still around. I’m happy for Britain, and agree a whole nation brought together to celebrate two people tying the knot is a really, really neat thing. Your country deserves having a day when all of you can be happy and celebrate together...every country does, and few get it. Our Presidential swearing in is the closest we get, and there’s NO comparison!

I think her dress was lovely...I liked Di’s whipped-crème-puff dress, it fit her, but this was much more “real” if you will, and Kate looked gorgeous. They both did, and I’m happy for them. I sincerely hope their marriage is as happy as Will’s dad’s was sad. From all I’ve heard/seen, both of them are much more mature and sensible people, so they’ve got a better shot.

I’m sorry PN got under your skin, PK. Nobody takes him seriously (at least I sincerely HOPE not); just muse for a minute on how miserable a person he must be and how awful it would be to be him, and it’ll all go away. Regarding DT’s theory, IS there a “panic” over the commoner thing? I hadn’t heard anything like that--admittedly I haven’t been following it all, but it seems to me Rose is right that in this day and age, it doesn’t mean much. And I don’t mind the term “muggles”, they were pretty cool people in Potter’s world, weren’t they? And aren’t all us Yanks “muggles” anyway? By the way; Rose, they DO have problems beyond male pattern baldness because of the inbreeding. I, too, think it’s great he married a muggle. His dad married a “royal”, and look where it got HIM!

Oh, PK, I believe it’s “Catherine”, hee, hee, hee...how strange that a damned yank would notice that and you didn’t, eh? I don’t get quite how Catherine translates to Kate, but apparently it does. All in all, I’m tickled for you guys and I hope it leaves a warm afterglow for some time to come. Don’t be in any hurry to return to the idiocy of reality. You BE proud, mister; we have a lot to thank you guys for, and pomp and circumstance is FUN!

Yep, Kate is a diminutive of Catherine...is that not common in the US? More common these days is Cath or Cathy, and usually Kate is reserved for Kathryn spellings. Occasionally I have had Kate although I am usually Cath.

Not all diminutives resemble the original name closely

And oddly enough, on the Beta site, your earlier response looks just fine. But on the original site, it's all greyed out, as if you didn't close the quote properly in your response. But it looks good here.

Oh, and on your other post about the critters of Australia, I just wanted to say I had a possum on my fence today. She was pregnant, and quite large, but working her way down the fence between my property and the neighbors', going along the top of a 6-foot-tall wood privacy fence, and doing so VERRRRRY slowly. Took her about 45 minutes to go from the back of the house to the front! I let her be, since she didn't appear to be in any distress, didn't seem rabid or aggressive (I got within a few feet of her just to see if she showed signs of aggression, and she absolutely didn't); I'm guessing she worked her way up one of the large trees out front when she got there, and I wish her many fat babies and a happy, healthy life.

John,

That's really disrespectful to Will and Kate. I'm offended. It's not often that I am offended, but it does happen. I think the last time was when you blamed the people of Israel for something their govt. did, (unless you blame yourself for bombing Libya...)

Magon,

The US is like Australia in that we're all the descendants of lower class folk here, so people are just named Kate. It doesn't have to be short for anything.

Katie Perry is "Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson" but Katie Holmes is actually named Kate. Same for Kate Hudson. Kate Winslet is a Kate, kate beckinsale is a kathryn, personally, I think "Cate" is a silly thing to do, sorry ms. Blanchett ;)

Kate is like Molly and Sally and Polly and Betsy. Probably this had some origin in the Celtic uses of names that were related and became lower class parallels. Early on in Britain, the lower classes were actually celts, and spoke celtic languages and were occupied by british forces in castles speaking latin and german and danish and french, so there was some evolution of class to names. Katherine, however you spell it, was posh, and Kate was lower class, but by the time people got here, or most likely, there, as well, the class concept was lost, and people actually ended up with names like Polly.

I don't even know where it comes from. Google says "Mary, from Molly." I have a strong suspicion that people in Ireland were actualy named Molly, but then they have names like vhari which they spell mhari so go figure.

DREAMTROVE

The world is a tricky place.

A quick google returns this:

"As long as a house is like yours, and as long as you work together with your brothers, not a house in the world will be able to compete with you, to cause you harm or to take advantage of you, for together you can undertake and perform more than any house in the world." - Nathan Meyer Rothschild

"We are like the mechanism of a watch: each part is essential." - Nathan Meyer Rothschild

Quote:

"Give me control of a nation's money, and I care not who makes her laws" - Mayer Amschel Rothschild

I always thought it was "currency," but I can't be sure, most people who say her, say money, and I know that given the date, no one would be referring to Britain (or any nation) as it. Anyway, why do people think this is so sinister? Are laws good? Would I rather be ruled by lawyers? I would rather, actually, know who is in charge, and Rothschild lays it out plainly, and I'm thankful for that. I like knowing. This is one of the quotes that made me give up on politics.

The Rothschild Family is a lot less powerful now that the control over the GBP has been handed to the FSA. It doesn't do a lot of good to be financial advisor to the Queen if there is no power in that throne. See, the snag is that Mr. Rothschild might be part of the team, but he isn't playing ball. Seems he doesn't want to give up the pound, which doesn't sit well with the boys at Goldman.

If you think about it, it makes perfect sense. The problem with globalism is this:

Only those with a bank of issue have any power. Powerful people gather together to decide the world's fate, and in order to be heard, they must join in discussions and social circles "fit in" as it were just as you would in a frat or a church. This means they adopt each others positions, and everyone heads over the waterfall called "One world currency." This is the way to dominate the globe, if currency controls a nation. Makes sense, right?

Snag Alert: Each player has their own bank of issue, and joining the one world currency makes each of them no longer powerful, but a vassal of someone else at the table, if not out of the group altogether. Each time one of the globalists falls for this, the others will notice, and so they will more and more oppose the true goal of globalism.

Okay, moving on.

2. Prince Philip is no one's responsibility but his own, I'm not about to blame Kate Middleton and Prince William for him. Reality is that his views are not uncommon for a globalist. They're uncommon for a Nazi, so he's a sucky Nazi.

3. Someone had to.

Quote:

The ultimate plan was to have the Fascist Germans get involved in a bloody stalemate with Communist Russians, while the British and the Americans consolidate their grip on the world especially the Middle East where all of the oil was.

That was the result, but not the plan: Germany and Russia represented zero threat to British dominance of the globe because neither was a naval power. Britain assisted Russia in capturing oil and the war destroyed Britain, but not through anything tactical. It demonstrated air superiority over the sea, particularly in the US vs. Japan, and that change handed the world to the US.

A real theory would probably involve someone trying to use Germany to overthrow Europe. The stalemate with Russia was fed by Churchill, but before him, it was not something that I think one would have anticipated. The result was considered a disaster by Britain.

4. Defeats the prior argument. Either the crown is Nazi or not. I actually don't care whether or not anyone supported Germany before it had done anything evil. It's those that emulated Germany after it had done something evil, especially those emulating the evil.

5. Again, so what. Not only is this not news, the US was allied with Germany until Germany allied itself with Japan, and we were in conflict with Japan over the Pacific. Still, we only put a token effort towards defeating German, almost all of our effort went into defeating Japan. Almost everything we took from Japan we lost to commies or corrupt third world dictators. It was a disaster.

6. Not news.

7. Neither is this. Neither is news to Kate either.

8.

Quote:

The Elitist Royal family will never truly accept Kate into their circle.

That would be the salient point. I think I mentioned it just now and a couple people poked fun at me for doing so, and this is what I didn't want to waste time trying to explain to them.

Niki, if you're reading this, take note of the things in quote boxes above. These are the puzzle pieces you are missing.

John, continuing: That is really up to her and Will now isn't it? The problem with royalty is that one day, someone else is king. Right now, the issuing power lies in the square mile, and the monarchy is trying to get it back, but it's not Liz doing it. She would like to end the monarchy and hand control over to globalists.

I think the press killed Diana, and they did so after she had left Charles for an arab. I suspect that conspiracies about killing off Di and Dodi reach too far. It's hardly a disgrace to the monarchy to marry into power, and Di was a princess before she married Charles. I would go with a simpler conspiracy, similar to Michael Jackson: She was worth more money to the media dead than alive.

I assume Kate is much more familiar with the Family than that. You don't have to marry a prince to meet the Rothschilds. Right now, she's probably enjoying the whole Cinderella thing, but in time she might care about whether or not there is any power to the throne. If William is having doubts about Di, that's a positive sign. It means he has a proper dose of skepticism.

I suspect Charles will never be king. Not only is he statistically unlikely to outlive his mother, but he also lacks popular appeal. No one wants an unappealing figurehead. To make matters worse, Charles and Camilla have no children and cannot have any, and that never bodes well for a royal family, also, it's a second marriage. The whole thing would make for a terrible image. If the monarchy cares about image, and they care about little else it seems, then Will and Kate will end up king and queen.

Oh, if Alex Jones had something specific to say, post the text, or links to it.

If they want to earn my respect, they will go to war to overthrow the British monarchy, kick out the kosher banksters, free the Commonwealth, free Scotland, free Ireland, free Wales, kick out the illegals, quit the EU, pay BP oil dividends to each citizen, stop invading and genociding...that's a start.

I agree with parts of that agenda, but, alas, I'm not king. I'll make a couple comments: They don't have to overthrow the monarchy, they *are* the monarchy. Will and Kate have no intention of making England white again, sorry. It seems they're very multicultural in their own associations. Good for them. They have yet to genocide anyone. BP paying a dividend? I'm not sure. That's what they do in Alaska and Iran, and I guess it's a better model than the dole, but it will never get them off of oil. At the moment, BP is a global menace.

Kicking out the bankers, they will need bankers, but they should review the situation. If they inherit an actual throne it will come with an actual currency, and someone will have to manage it to make it competitive with the Euro.

Getting out of the EU is a good plan, as is independence for the celtic states, but again, as I said, I'm not king.

What do you have against Pakistanis? Or Mexicans for that matter? Humans migrate. We're free to do so. That's a large part of liberty.

JONGSSTRAW

I watched the whole thing live and thought it was magnificent. The grand spectacle was quite emotionally moving, and it felt great to see such an amazing and positive event taking place. My wife cried through most if it. It was like watching a living fairy tale. A very great and proud day for England!

Americans felt the same way during the moon landings, during the Vietnam Wars and assassination extravaganza.

Are you saying Will and Kate never got married? Now *that's* a conspiracy theory!

NIKI2

Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

As to the double posts Magons; I was having that problem a lot too before I switched over to the beta version. I also had the problem of hitting the key to put up my post only to have the error message, then go back and post it AGAIN, which caused a double post! Same thing as Mike mentioned. It started happening a while back, out of the blue, so maybe you’re having somewhat the same problem, I dunno.

I don’t hear the Nancy = Ann thing, usually it’s Nancy = Nan, and tho’ I have heard the Margaret = Meg thing, more often I hear Margaret = Marge. The Harry and John thing I hear a lot, our John F. Kennedy was referred to as Jack a lot. I have trouble with my name, as people misspell it almost invariably, because it usually comes from Nicole, whereas for me it comes from Nikovich.

PK/DT; it’s a waste of time being offended by PN. One of his main PURPOSES here is to offend, so letting him know he succeeded is beneath you. I just ignore him, I put his sickness down to sickness and let it go at that. Saves me a heck of a lot of time, not reading his bullshit...much less RESPONDING to it! Betcha he doesn’t even read most of the time, just sees the subject and splatters the thread with his ugliness.

PK, of course he’s a little prick, you’ve surely known that for ages. He doesn’t believe in anything, he hates everything/everyone, and is only here to spew his hate. Have you ever seen him express ANY belief in ANYTHING? That should answer it for you...letting him get to you is like letting Kane get to you, just a waste of energy. I wouldn’t be surprised if h WAS saying they never got married...wouldn’t know because there’s no way I’d read all through any of his posts, but anything’s possible, given his mentality.

Just don't let one troll's racist assininity bother you, is what I'm saying; he's not REAL and not worth your attention. I've never figured out just why he IS here, except to troll and, as Mike has said, to gain money from any of us clicking on his links. He certainly has nothing else to offer...

The US is like Australia in that we're all the descendants of lower class folk here, so people are just named Kate. It doesn't have to be short for anything.

Well I'd kind of reframe that into, 'we're all the descendants of folk'. Some folk have managed to get themselves a name in their life, sucked up to some kingly type, stolen lands off someone else, killed a lot of other folk, discovered and exploited a natural resource or aquired a fortune some other way and their descendants have profited from their 'success'. That is all class is, prick us and we bleed the same substance. Go back far enough and our ancestors were digging around in the mud like everyone else.

Niki,

Perhaps for you, but I choose to be offended by very little, hence my being offended is a measure of something, and represents contrast. If you choose to be offended by everything, than there is no contrast, and the offense has no meaning.

RIONAEIRE

Beir bua agus beannacht

Well I watched a little of it, saw that short kiss. I heard that Kate has something resembling noble blood somewhere way back and that's why he could marry her without abdicating.

I see a lot of value in tradition and ensuing comradery. Tradition has a place of honor in my own life, possibly because I don't do well with change and I like familiar things, but also because I enjoy the continuity of it.
