Imagine you had the power to make any movie you wanted. Be it a prequel, sequel, reboot, or completely original film, what would you do? What franchise would you like to work with, no questions asked? Just imagine a studio exec came up to you and said, "would you like to make a *Insert movie name here* film?" What movie would make you say "YES!" immediately (also, before I get a bunch of Serenity sequels, yes that is a great choice, but what else?).

And, if given this chance, how would you do it? What would you do story wise? Who would you cast?

I'm just curious what you guys would do.

Me, I have a few I'd do. I'd love to make an X-men movie, but I would want Cyclops back and I'd include Sentinels. I thought the end of X2 would have been a perfect set up for Sentinels. After the worldwide attack the general human population would be so afraid they'd accept just about anything to protect them. I would also want to give Cyclops a real chance to be a leader and decision maker. Personally, I love the character (after Joss got a hold of him) and I thought he got shafted in the movies.

I would remake "Vanishing Point" with Nathan (The Captian) Fillion as the star, driving a new "HEMI" powered Challenger.

If not Serenity, then I´d remake Episode 1 & 2 of Star Wars and make them good.. Or POTC 2 & 3 and make them less extravagant

"Summer Glau can simply walk into Mordor.."

Been making the movie since 2005- we will be done this winter - see link below.

IF our pending distribution deal doesn't change this, our cast will be:

Gina Torres
Laurence Fishburne
Rosie Perez
Tim Curry
Jewel Staite
Jason Scott Lee
Adam Baldwin
Andy Serkis
Mark Hamill
Monica Bellucci

We have three sequels planned. After that I hope we can do a live action comedy about alien abductees who have crashed on an alien planet trying to figure out to get back to Earth.

I would remake "The Spiral Road".

I thought it was a great film when I originally saw it, but since then I have read the book and realised how much greater the story, written by Jan de Hartog, truly is. The only reason I can believe they left out large portions, I also consider the most important, of this book is they felt it would be offenseive to the audience of the 60's. I feel we are much more mature then that and complete novel should be placed on film for people to see. It makes no sense to throw the best works of an suthor in the trash and make a mediocre film.

So if your lurking in your local library, look this one up.

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

Vanishing Point has already been remade once, in '97 with Viggo Mortensen.

Other than Serenity 2, I'd go for something more original, such as Alfred Bester's The Stars My Destination. I'd only produce, because Terry Gilliam would be directing.

I'd also like to take a crack at Heinlein's The Moon is a Harsh Mistress, but with a different script than Tim Minear's. Sorry, Tim.

Also, Starship Troopers should be remade by someone who respects the text.

I'd LOVE to see Transmetropolitan on the big screen, but I swear to Buddha if they actually use Tim Roth for the part of Spider (and they have threatened to) I'm gonna puke! Don't get me wrong Roth is absolutely perfect for Lie To ME but he just doen't have the anti-hero charisma to pull off Spider Jerusalem. I actually have a picture in my head that looks like a tough Russian or maybe African-American for a new spin? If you have no idea what Transmet is- just ask

i would want to make an adaption of "Tomorrow, When The War Began" and the whole series by John Marsden (because it is a great series), and an adaption of "Seven Ancient Wonders" by Matthew Reilly (because it would make an awesome movie) and try to make a decent western that isn't a remake

A little movie called Serenity II.

Other than that?

Star Wars Episodes I-III without an enormous budget and new fangled effects. Old school stop motion and animatronics. Also, no Jar-Jar or Hayden Christianson (who made me feel like Anikan was a whiny little B-----) and a real screenwriter.

The Green Lantern... with a certain Canuck as Hal Jordan.

And then I have this idea for a Beauty and the Beast remake... but it's really dark and twisted and scifi.

Transmet would be awesome. Mark Sheppard (Badger on Firefly) could pull it off. He played a character similar to Spider on BSG.

If we're talking scifi then I am going with a movie that is actually in pre-production: "John Carter of Mars" Edgar Rice B., a great set of books (especially for young folk interested in fantasy and bored with high school).
I am trying to lower my expectations because it will be an extremely hard movie to make - a central character is 10 feet tall, has green skin and 4 arms and is being played by Willem DaFoe... somehow. Hey, I thought Gollum would be impossible or at the very least, seriously bad, and I was completely wrong there.
I hope they can pull it off - there are 10 more books in the series.

I would love someone to produce a good, intelligent, big-screen version of Patrick Rothfuss's The Name of the Wind.

But I am scared that it would be mutilated.

It is an excellent book, but it could be adapted horribly by anyone overlooking the wry humor and subtle characterization of the novel.

I think I would do The Sandman, although it would have to be a series of films to get as much of the story in as possible. Ideally it should be done as a long mini-series but were talking movies here so that's not an option.

I would also like to do an Alien war movie. One like the rumoured Alien 3 could have been before they went in a different direction. One where it's just us versus them, USCM v Alien, no Predators (I've nothing against Predators though).
Having said that a Terminator war in the future would be one I'd consider, a proper full on battle on a huge scale.

One of my fave styles of movies is the Short Cuts type. You know where lots of different characters appear to be unconnected but through events and people they do know they end up being connected and affecting each others lives without really knowing about it. I'd like to see one set in a smallish town where a crime (murder maybe) brings out all the dark secrets and hidden lives of everyone.

As for cast I would definitely employ Summer and Nathan and probably Mark Sheppard as well. As for others it would be Brad Pitt, Michelle Williams, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Dakota Fanning, Laura Fraser, Stephanie Leonidas, Tom Hanks, Simon Pegg, Reese Witherspoon, Viggo Mortensen, Sam Rockwell....
....to name a few.

I'm pretty amped for that one. But as for how they'll make Willem Defoe 10-ft tall....? You realize this is a Pixar movie, yes? Their first live-action/animation hybrid (well, except that commerical in Wall-E).

If anyone else was making it, I'd be nervouse. But Pixar has yet to do me wrong.

Is Pixar Disney and vice versa? Some fantasy scifi things don't have a good shelf life outside of our imaginations or fantastic paintings. You know, it's just so NOT real that if you try to make it look real it just underscores the fakeness.

Ender's Shadow (I think almost like it more than Ender's Game these days)

I can't really think of who to cast though. Will all those child actors it would be very difficult to cast. Plus Bean would need to grow quite a bit during the filming. I'm thinking a lot of CGI would be required. Still it's a great book. I just love how Bean drove all the instructors crazy with how he figured out all their secrets.

Initially as Gaius Baltar's Lawyer "Romo Lampkin".
Romo Lampkin eventually ends up as the President by series end...
Mark Sheppard was GREAT in that role (hate to say it; but I liked Romo Lampkin more than Badger. From a "Damn he nailed that role" perspective...)

I'm surprised that The Thing wasn't on that list.

I knew about Little Shop of Horrors though. I bought the original on DVD about 15 years ago. Hilariously, they had "STARRING JACK NICHOLSON" on the cover with a big picture of his face.

He was in the movie for 2 minutes. He was the masochist that Bill Murray played in the 1980's musical.

Jack was funny in his own way. He didn't get off on the pain and get all over-the-top like Bill Murray did, but if I hadn't seen him in a ton of other things before I saw this movie, I would have thought he was a comedian just because of how he delivered his ridiculous lines.

Honor Harrington, definitely. And yes, Claudia Black would have been a good choice; I met her once and she's as impressive in person as Susan Ivanova was! Nowadays...Gal Gadot, maybe, with some camera trickery to bring her up to Honor's height?

A British version of Hitch-Hiker's Guide, none of the Americanisms.

A movie of UFO.

A proper sequel to The Incredibles, in which the son of Syndrome and Mirage is hell-bent on revenge.

A Blake's 7 sequel - were they all killed?

A proper version of Starship Troopers - in Rico's universe, no way in hell would someone barely out of boot camp be a lieutenant!

The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress, yes. Have Space Suit - Will Travel was fun, too.

Doubtless there are others.
