Brenda: Another thought about M. Riel. I wonder what would have happened if he hadn't come home. Would or could he have become the catalyst for uniting the Metis in the US?
Brenda: Are we off to war THG?
THG:
THG:
Brenda: I've heard a variety of music growing up from classical to rock and roll. 50's to country and western. Cassette tapes created from recording off the radio, tapes and records from the library. Then the bands that came in and some disco.
Brenda: Well, since you've read about the hard time I can have getting help. I need things to help me able to do what I need to do.
Brenda: Oh, I know SIG is doing great in spite of everything. And that's good to see. Though I think she's only 10years older than me. Makes me feel a little lazy too. I do need to make a list of publishers I have sent too because with out knowing the who I did, I can't figure out the next lot.
6ixStringJack: I've never actually used those pads myself, so you'll have to let me know what you think of them. I've always either muscled something alone or had help moving it. The closest I've gotten is putting the small sticky pads on the feet of everything after I restored the hardwood floors. They work pretty great, although I still only move the heavy stuff if I've got some help. Even with the pads, I remember I did move something really heavy and it did scuff up my finish a bit, even if it didn't gouge anything or break through the finish. But they're great for moving things like my couch when I want to vacuum under and behind them.
6ixStringJack: You've never been tainted by having all the music at your fingertips. I remember how much more music meant to me back when you had your dedicated albums and you actually had to go to the trouble of loading them up to give them a listen. And how important your cassette tapes were to you because that was your means of customization. I don't even have any of my old albums anymore after I went digital.
6ixStringJack: If you need a kick in the ass, I'd look to Sigs for it. She's getting so much done right now despite her health and age it's making me feel pretty guilty about how I'm spending my time still slaving away on that project in the A/C instead of going outside and getting what needs to get done finished.
Brenda: Yeah, he loved it when I told him. It was a great idea but like I said it wouldn't work on the nightstand because it's in an awkward position. I've got some furniture slides now and I just have to get off my butt and move the blasted thing.
Brenda: Yeah, I love my music. I would be lost without it. I don't listen much on YouTube. But I have all my cassette tapes and CDs and of course my vinyl. So when I want to listen to something I have lots to choose from. Very few times in my life where I haven't been surrounded by music for whatever reason.
Brenda: It does. I also know about the kick in the ass. I kinda need one now to get looking again at publishers. I have a lot of material in my email that should help tell me what publishers we've gone too. Should also make a list. I hope you can get your friend to help you.
6ixStringJack: Haha! Nice. I don't even know where the plate idea came from. Just popped into my head when I was thinking what we could do to slide stuff over since you didn't have those furniture slides. I was just kind of going through my own head what I've got in my house that wasn't a tool and that most other people would have that would work. It was plates and magazines, and I figured the magazines would probably get shredded up even though they'd get the job done.
6ixStringJack: I probably should listen to more music instead of having YouTube up in the background all the time while I'm doing project work. I used to have a huge music collection but I'd lost that somewhere along the way, and trying to "listen" to music on YouTube is frustrating because they constantly pause videos or stop playing in between to check if you're still watching. Behaviour that YouTube barely does when you're listening to anything that isn't copyrighted music.
6ixStringJack: Sounds like the system works for you. It usually does for me, but sometimes I need a good kick in the ass about it. My friends have been pretty busy this year, especially the one who's dad died and who knows a lot of stuff and doesn't get bogged down thinking like I do. I could really use his help over here with a few things just to get some inertia going on the important stuff again. Finger's crossed.
Brenda: Oh by the way SIX. I was at my chiropractor yesterday and told him how I got the bed move into its spot. He loved your idea of plastic plates. Maybe he'll use that idea in his house.
Brenda: Ah, you go for perfection and I get frustrated. It's like listening to music when I write on the computer. I have to have it on to help my brain work. The poet helping me can't stand anything on that might disturb her. But everyone is different.
Brenda: That is exactly right for writing at least for me. I got the whole first part they way I wanted it. But then the ending was bothering me. Once I had that worked like I said I just wrote basically backwards and adjusted the two pieces until they fit.
6ixStringJack: The hardest part, at least for me, is when you're going back and doing the middle stuff and you start to realize that you've got something really good going on there, but it's going to require dumping most of the ending stuff that you were so sure of just a day or two before. Sometimes I fall into a "Perfection Loop" and nothing notable gets done because I'm paralyzed that any work I do either way will end up being wasted.
