Its almost impossible that the movie coud be that bad, so maybe it will actually be good. ---------------------------- DUZ XaT SEM RiT TQ YQ? - Jubal Early http://www.nooalf.com

It was an instant hit on Channel 4 because James Bond was all the rage at the time (they call it trending now) and NBC took advantage of the craze by introducing this show. Napaleon Solo and Ilya Kuryakin were 2 of the coolest spies on TV. But, of course, no one could beat James Bond. Now we have the feature length movie coming out with Armie Hammer, Henry Cavill (yes, that Henry Cavill) and Alicia Vikander (the stunner from Ex Machina). Oh! and directed by Guy Ritchie...........this is gonna be awesome! Not only will it be filled with exciting, rough & tumble action, it's gonna be funny as well. I'm there! SGG

Are folk who rave about the original show the same folk who are agog about Dr. Who?

SGG Which film this year will surpass female love interest + buttkicking more than Alicia Vikander? Other than Ex Machina. Are folk who rave about the original show the same folk who are agog about Dr. Who? I started to write an answer but something happened and it was erased. I will try to recreate it to the best of my ability. The film that immediately comes to mind is MI:5. Vikander's robot android outshines Ferguson's Ilsa with a virtuoso performance in an independent film (it had all the mannerisms of a large production, but who's tone, pace and substance was transmitted with the subtlety of a jungle cat stalking it's prey). It was powerful and glided over the skin like a silk scarf. Ferguson delivered Ilsa with a stealthy assurance that was barely captured on camera, it was something to see; and it nearly out-maneuvered Cruise's Ethan Hunt in it's undeniable rawness. Vikander's Ava portrayed a cunning innocence, a lesson in showing emotionless emotion. Yes, I know that sounds weird and nearly impossible, but the subtlety of her performance is remarkable in it's ability to lull you into a hypnotic trance and you believe every movement, every breath, every glance. Suddenly you realize she pulled you into her world. I have to watch it again, even though it remains vivid in my memory. I fell for it, like Caleb, I fell for it. I was in the Twilight Zone and I loved it. I say again, Bravo! Ferguson, I felt, was in charge. From the moment she entered on screen until the moment she exited, she was in charge. An undeniable force that commanded attention and you followed orders with a big smile on your face. These two women should somehow wind up on the big screen together. Vikander is one of the reasons why I will be seeing the Man from UNCLE. If I see Ferguson's name attached to a movie from here on out, I'm there. It is a race to see which one will be nominated for an Oscar. Even though comparing these two films is like apples and oranges, I give the slight edge to Vikander. SGG

Quote:Originally posted by JO753: Quote:Originally posted by SHINYGOODGUY: What!!!??? OK, in the the seen I saw, see? Illya & Napolean are driving a convertible MG on a narrow road in a wooded English countryside. Looks like a nice day, but then they are being shot at. Bullets keep zinging by but they dont speed off, jump out and dive for cover. No. They just calmly stop and get out, looking around with their gunz drawn, easy pickingz for anybody with enuf marksmanship to hit a moving car, az they were. So, unless I missed the part uv their story that explainz why they are bullet proof, it wuz a stupid and clumzy excuse for an action sequens. ---------------------------- DUZ XaT SEM RiT TQ YQ? - Jubal Early http://www.nooalf.com

SGG Vikander needs to be nominated this year. For Ex-Machina, and perhaps also for UNCLE. Assuming 5 nominations available, which other 4 actresses would bump her out? Perhaps Mirren for Woman in Gold. Who else this year (so far)?

Have you seen Lock, Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels? Similar but not as funny as Snatch. I don't care for Tarantino though I love "Desperado" but again I also happen to love Antonio Banderas. I tried watching "Lock, Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels" and couldn't get into it.

I liked it then, but that doesn't mean I have to like it now. Same goes for Avengers. I thought it was cool then, can't stand to watch it now. We only had three channels to watch back then, we had to take what we could get. Seeing that stuff now makes me wonder if I was stupid at that age, or at least very gullible.
