Have yet to see Munich, so I can't comment.

What did you think about Copland?
I think I forgot to include that in the best films of that period.

And now I remember:
In Bruges (2008) IIRC my gut hurt a lot from the humor. And maybe I choked on or spit out my soda a few times.
The Debt (2010) Perhaps my favorite Jessica Chastain performance to date. It seemed to me a similar feel as Munich (2005) did.

Hey JSF,

I liked Copland, but it's been a while since I last saw it, so I really don't remember much of it.

I haven't seen The Debt, but I love In Bruges - hilarious!!

Quiet as it's kept, Sly is a good actor and in the right hands a great actor.
He should have won an Oscar for Creed.

Did you like Munich?

Having said that, I understand that it may appear that way, but you had asked
that we compile a list of "our" choices for Best Film. Even if I did copy my list
from an Oscar website,

Hmmmm.

Seems like Hollywood started to die in 2017 maybe 2018, by the time the other Weinstein scandals hit and Covid and all the woke SJW virtue signal islamo gay diversity transexual casting came along it was truly dead.

Hollywood started to die before that. 2015 to 2016.

Growing up in a Republic was nice... Shame we couldn't keep it.

Margin Call was pretty good. It's 12 years old though.

I'd never heard of it before, but just watched it recently. It's pretty apropos at the moment.

Godzilla Minus One seems to expose how Hollywood has been dying, growth of indie US movies, European, Indian, South Korean.

Firefly was 22 years ago, Ironman 2008 and Nolan Batman Begins 2005

Guardians of the Galaxy is Ten Years Ago

Hollywood is dead

Best films now Asian maybe some from Europe or Latin America, some US indie movies

Arrival and Rogue One qualify they are 8 years ago...but I'm kind of gone of that whole Star Wars franchise...they still make movies a new Captain Marvel Flop, Black Adam Shazam flop etc
'Guardians of the Galaxy' ist funny it has entertainment but is it the 'Best'?

So what is there to pick

Parasite
Godzilla Japan
Burning
Never Look Away
The Assassin 2015
RRR
Sisu
Cemetery of Splendor
...the Hollyweirdo ones
Oppenheimer?
Avengers End Game / Infinity War
Spider-Man No Way Home
...then the rest might be foreign again
Train to Busan
Force Majeure
Jauja
Happy as Lazzaro
The Lobster
Zama
Right Now, Wrong Then
maybe pick something from South Korea...a random S.Korean film

We've got Dune-2 which was ok

so the Oscars will give its winner award to SKorea or Mexico and Japan and other non-Hollywood film again?

not a lot of success anymore

2015-2025....we are nearing the end of Hollyweird

Musicals yes you get some ok ones in the USA, China, lots of dancing in movies of India Bollywood style

but Hollywood still unbeaten since the Golden Age...
