I've been seeing trailers for Snowman and The Foreigner lately. Not sure yet if I'll need to see them.

And looks like Mackensie Davis is going to shine in Bladerunner.

I haven't read the novel for Snowman, or "The Chinaman" for Foreigner, which might be a mimic film of Death Wish.

I saw a tv commercial for Blade Runner 2049 yesterday. Harrison Ford's back in a continuation of Deckard's story, and the effects look pretty good. I'm not getting my hopes up, but I don't think it's gonna stink.

Looks like Deckard has been hiding for 3 decades, so it's like a resurfacing of Deckard's story, secrets, mystery.

Dekard's an old man now. I wonder if Rachel aged with him or stayed young, or if she's even alive.

Are we trying to say that Deckard was a human? Not a replicant? Was that firmly established in any of the various cuts or edits?

Sean Young was attractive back then, but quickly went off the rails after BR. Who could be cast now that resembled Rachel? Or us there enough quality footage to CGI the entire role?

At least Blade Runner isn't going to be a movie that Hollywood can ruin for me by making a needless re-release of it. I couldn't stand the original movie.

It doesn't make sense, really... Ridley Scott, Sci-Fi, dystopian future, Harrison Ford, freakin robots. Everything I liked growing up in one movie. It just didn't do anything for me.

I dunno. Maybe I should watch it again, now that I'm older. Maybe I just didn't "get" it. It's got to have been almost 30 years since I saw it.

Gotta put this someplace. Sorry if it's off-topic a wee bit.

Now filming, Hellboy (2018) starring David Harbour,
Director: Neil Marshall,

"Hellboy comes to England, where he must defeat Merlin's consort
and Nimue the Blood Queen. But their battle will bring about the
end of the world, a fate he desperately tries to turn away."

I just hope he still has his cats.

Book of Henry was supposed to be released 16 June. I did not see it showing until last Monday (26 June) when it had 2 showings, so I went the next day, and the theater cancelled the showing I went to, and I see no other showings anywhere.
So the cinemas are not giving it much play, much of a chance.

Bad Batch is supposed to be out, also - but I have not seen it showing anywhere.

And Baby Driver is out 2 days ago.

Next up from films in this thread are Valerian and Dunkirk on July 21.

Finally got to see Book of Henry. No Firefly episodes this week, so I looked and the first 3 Redbox were out of it. The 4th had it plus Bad Batch.
Book of Henry has wonderful acting, but it's not light topics. If you enjoyed Bridge to Terabithia then this might be for you. Wonderful cast. There didn't seem to be anything requiring a silver screen. So it's not so bad I missed it in cinema.

So I also watched Bad Batch. Not what I was hoping for. Jim Carrey was not a draw for me, but he was unrecognizable. Keanu has been wandering off the mainstream a bit lately, and thus is another example. Some barbaric scenes and themes. If Cherry 2000 and A Boy And His Dog are your favorite films, Bad Batch might be to your liking. Bad Batch refers to nonconformist members of society, exiled to a penal territory. The writer/director spent too much on trying to portray drug effects.
The DVD also includes a short by the same writer/director, called Six and a Half. Lacks the drug and gore themes, but not much question the same source as the main film.

Just found out that I made a mistake and placed Shape of Water in the 2018 category and it's scheduled release is Dec. 1, 2017.....ooops!

Also add to the list Maudie, an indie film, with the same actress, Sally Hawkins, in the lead role as in the Shape of Water. She is amazing, she was also in Blue Jasmin and eats up the screen every time.

Well, Thor is no longer at my local theater, now that I have a chance for a flik.
But Justice League is still there.
No Shape of Water, 3 Billboards.

Yeah, saw it day before yesterday. It's pretty good - it's sort of like LOTR meets End of Watch. Lots of action, mixed with magic and Orc folklore.

It's not Shakespeare, but it's watchable with good pace and easy to follow.
Will Smith and Joel Edgerton do a good job as the cops forced together as partners.

I finally was able to watch Snowman.
With Rebecca Ferguson, Val Kilmer, Michael Fassbender.
Although a bit slow to start, and delving into disfunctional families and alcoholism beyond boredom, it does have a good mystery within. Sometimes it felt like Se7en or Wind River, but not consistently enough.
If that sounds like what you're looking for, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
It is placed in Norway.
